James Brown of Hartlepool has impressed as much as anyone I've seen. He's quick, positive, has an eye for goal and should surely benefit from having better players around him.

We'd have problems with him in the nightclubs before matches.

I hear he's on the scene like a sex machine...

A bit like Frank Worthington then. :D

Sounds just the job.

Even though Fryatt scored a brace I still think we're clearly lacking up front, we need to be taking every chance we get which this pair aren't. I'd like to see Ricky Lambert here, big, powerful and a natural goalscorer. I also think Andy Bishop of Bury and Jamie Ward of Chesterfield would be decent buys.

Like all the other forwards in...err...which league exactly?

Look at today's stats below - we had 10 attempts of which 4 were on target and put away 3 of them. Seriously, exactly where are you watching football where the final score could have been 1-10? :dunno:

I really don't get that crap that is being thrown at Fryatt. He isn't a Premier League striker...but hey, guess what? This is Division III.

Goal Attempts 17 : 10 Goal Attempts

On Target 6 : 4 On Target

Crosses 4 : 5 Crosses

Corners 4 : 5 Corners

Offside - : 3 Offside

Fouls 16 : 19 Fouls

Free kicks 23 : 16 Free kicks

Yellow cards 2 : 3 Yellow cards

Red cards - : - Red cards

% Possession 55 : 45 Possession %

One quarter of the way through a 50-odd game season Fryatt has now trebled the total number of goals he scored in all competitions last season.

He's the second highest scorer in Division One with very close to a goal a game and one goal away from double figures in what is only the first week of October.

There are at least 39 more games and seven months left for Fryatt to get the other 11 goals which would give him a perfectly acceptable 20 goals for the season. We're three points clear at the top of the League and we're scoring at least three goals a game regularly.

The finest advocate in the land would struggle to make a case against his contribution so far. And why would anyone want to? How much better could we realistically be doing?

Time his critics cut him some slack.
