Got schooled and taught a lesson by Chris Wood today. Wood won almost every long ball on his chest or feet against Faes and then played around him. Could do with a quality CB in January to play against a raw but potentially great Okoli.
-
He defended very well until Sinisterra came on who turned him inside out a few times. One time should have probably led to them scoring but their header hit the bar. Still seems quite obvious from watching that Justin should be at LB and Ricky at RB. It would add another dimension to our play.

That's exactly what I think. I have a vague idea how we are meant to be defending but this changes quite a lot during matches with different shapes. However, I still have no idea how we are meant to be attacking - e.g. direct long ball? Countering? A structured positional possession game? Etc. Also still have no idea what our formation is in possession as this appears to change so much. This shouldn't be the case after 7 matches...

The clubs probably only wanted him as squad option so likely wouldn't get many minutes. Or Alves may have not wanted to move too far from Leicester.

But surely after proving his fitness over a full season last year and being possibly our best player (or definitely in the top 3 or 5) you would give him the opportunity to start the season at full back? Those metrics appear to mainly apply to seasons where he has had recurring injuries. Appreciate he was inverted so covered less metres but this also allowed him to grow the technical and tactical side of his game. At times in games this season we have desperately needed players better at progressing the ball out of def nice and holding possession. I heard Stowell on the radio a little while ago at the start of this season. He described Ricardo as "the Rolls Royce in the side" and that he is at his best as an attacking fullback and couldn't understand Cooper's selection policy. That shows how well thought of he even was in the previous background staff.
-
Last time Ricardo played as a proper full back / wing back for us (not inverted) his defensive work was very underrated. I think he was better defensively than Justin, plus you have the huge advantage of how good he is technically on the ball and at attacking. I still think it's madness not to be playing Ricardo who has been our best player for the last 5 seasons.

Has it been confirmed yet if Vestergaard was injured / too fatigued last match or was he just dropped for Coady?
-
Who was the second choice then after Cooper? Carlos Corberan?
-
It's so easy to call which substitutions should happen in hindsight. I'm sure he had a plan for an outcall, like Fatawu breaking and running into one of the channels to receive a long ball. Maybe with vardy also so they split their defence. But ultimately it didn't work, maybe due to energy levels, players being asked to play out of position, etc.

Ricardo comes on in CM before Hamza. I just really really don't understand Cooper's issues with Ricardo, it's madness

We were mid table with Puel...

Brilliant game by Wilf. Looked back to his best today but also possibly even better than under Rodgers. He improved his game in the final third souch under Enzo and that showed today on top of a brilliant defensive and pressing performance.

There should be a second line as there normally is showing where the offensive player's leg/head/armpit is. Then proving if this is in breach of the offside line or not. I would like to see the Premier League also realise this image. I think his knee is breaching that offside line but as the VAR system was slow with drawing the lines, the official had to make a call based on only the green line. -
Surely Vesty is injured?

Hopefully those 2 points won't be costly at the end of the season

Cooper needs to learn as a manager how to tactically set up a team for each period of the 90mins away from home. That's not how you do it
-
Too negative. Shouldn't be defending that deep on a one goal lead from 60mins. Palace were so poor at the back but we didn't even try to test them in the last 30mins
-
Guehi looks massively overrated after watching that half of football
-
By far Ndidi's best half of football this season. Would love to see his stats from that half. e Especially number of tackles / turnovers of possession.
-
Yep very good player. Can do everything you want from a CM / CDM to good premier league standard
-
How was El Khannouss?
-
Yep best window I can remember and not one I was expecting with or financial constraints. Two strikers in Ayew and Edouard probably aren't going to set the world a light but solid signings for our end of the table and less than 6 million on fees between them.
-
Last time he was available, we got Daka instead and we all know how well that worked out.... I think he's better than what we've got. Vardy is looking sharp but we can't rely on him as he's 37. Good loan signing and not a bad transfer window on the whole
-
Just hedges his bets with statements.... No sh*t we will be getting him late. Everyone also knows we scouted him five years ago 😄

Also played a lot of last season as a number 8
