He never suited the way Rodgers played. We were far more attacking and left less players behind the ball so had to rely on athletic and fast players to cut out counter attacks like Soyuncu, Fofana and Ndidi. Whoever scouted vestergaard for Rodgers' system did a terrible job. In Enzo's system though with the protection of two other centre backs either side of him and two deep lying playmakers in front of him during the transition, he would be harder to isolate in the premier league. Plus his passing and tactical understanding of the game is so crucial for Enzo's system - there aren't many other CBs worth less than 50millions that are as good as him with the ball.

Chelsea have probably recalled him as he's not first choice here. They will probably loan him back out to another championship team where he will start every week.
-
Got his wages off the books though which won't be low considering the fee Chelsea paid for him

Hindsight is a great thing but Enzo will recognise the formation in the second half didn't work today. I think his plans was to hold onto the ball by playing 3 CMS plus ricardo but we couldn't keep possession He also should have also probably found a way to keep Mavididi on the pitch as we aren't much of a threat with our him and fatawu on. Maybe a 4-4-1 in a deep block.

They run far less on our current system. Justin at CB in a back three and Ricardo as an inverted full back instead of both marauding up the wing as Rodgers attacking full backs
-
Don't normal rate Hamza but today he was brilliant both on the ball and off it. Its refreshing to see a number of our players genuinely improving under a manager...

Me too please

Stream anyone? Thanks

Vestergaard has probably been one of Enzo's first or second picks on the team sheet every week this season. Will be absolutely shocked if he doesn't offer him a deal. Coady is known as a good passing CB and he's not in the league of Vesty on the ball so can't see how we can really replace him with our budget. I used to hate the guy and thought he was useless. However, fair play to him and I now think he can do a job in the premier league if the defensive is built around him.

They look to vulnerable to the counter attack. I expect us to set traps for them to turnover possession and then launch effective quick counter attacks similar to the Birmingham match. Leeds showed everyone in the league the game plan of how to beat Ipswich if you have pace upfront.

Can't see anyone paying a decent amount for a player who has six months left on his contract and will be out at the AFCON. I presume Aston Villa have commenced talks for signing him in the summer.
-
Not last season when they won the treble. They played with twin 8s (normally gundogan, KDH or Silva) and wingers supporting the striker and then one anchoring midfielder (Rodri) Only significant difference was they pushed a CB into midfield rather than using and inverted full back like we do

Haaland doesn't do too badly in a similar system...

Getting "lucky" for 14 out of the first 17 matches means your making your own luck....

Was definitely a tweak in the formation and strategy today. Justin played a lot higher up which suited his game more (would like to see his average position) and provided another outlet for the early ball we rarely play. Also hermanson stepped in to CB with Vesty for the build up and Faes pushed to right back.
-
I thought he would play Ndidi deep instead of winks and then someone like praet at no. 8 with KDH. Ndidi is nowhere near as good as winks on the ball but far better than Hamza. Watford know Hamza well and I feel will target him in possession.

Yep I think the positional changes for Justin (CB in back three) and Ricardo (inverted full back) have been key to them regaining their fitness and sustaining it over a good run of games. It looks like Ricardo will now always struggle to sustain the level of fitness required for the long distance covered and frequent sprints required of a modern full/wing back.

A third of the season gone - your thoughts?
Kierzz replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Very happy with the season so far. The most exciting part is that we can still get so much better and no doubt will under Enzo by the end of the season. -
As you suggest, I look forward to beating them on the return fixture when we have key players back from injury and more options off the bench. I understood and appreciated our strategy with the ball. However, one thing I did not understand with our tactics tonight was why we didn't press them aggressively. We only seemed to.press with 3 or 4 players from the front and the others didn't follow which appeared to be a pre-planned strategy. I appreciate Leers would be especially dangerous if they played through our full press but their Goalkeeper and defence often make mistakes when under pressure and we didn't exploit this (especially considering we were playing at home).

Byram took the ball off him once and he didn't run at him again after that until the last 5mins. He's a big confidence player I think
-
Still lacking a bit of leadership. Lost our heads a bit after conceding and at the end we allowed them to get under our skin and wasted our own time
-
He should be 6th choice out of our options at No.8 KDH Ndidi Praet Yunus Ricardo Casadei
