Yep they run the game for us in possession and are all irreplaceable
-
Yep suspect he will play Justin instead of Doyle but will play him on the right against Carvalho and then inverted the full back from the left hand side or push a CB forward if Hamza is injured. Similar system to how we marked Jack Clarke out of the game when we played Sunderland at home.
-
Never seen a central midfielder be so one footed and make it as far as he has in football. It must be so easy for a top defender to neutralise him - just show him onto his right foot and all he can do is try that swivel move he does to spin back to his left foot.
-
Genuinely no idea. He would probably try to use Vestergaard, Coady or Ndidi n the hybrid CB John Stones role instead of an inverted Full Back but will probably end badly.
-
They weren't as deep as QPR, especially towards the end - they played a lot higher and pressed us relentlessly in midfield. Winks was completely overrun at times and was caught about three times in possession which is very rare for him. The back three on today weren't able to break the defensive lines with their passes like Vestergaard normally does which showed and put more pressure on Winks.
-
Very cautious performance today. We went to a back 5 after we scored with coady, Faes and choudary CBs; Fatawu and Doyle RWB. We seemed to tire at the end but found a way to win which was massive. Even though it was hard to watch we didn't give them many clear chances and got a clean sheet which we needed so badly after recent league results. We need to use that ugly win to generate a bit of momentum going into a tough game against Hull where we need to be much better in possession. Ndidi coming back to fitness is huge for us. The impact of losing Vestergaard is underestimated as well. He is so important for us to play through the press and would have made a massive difference to us today as I'm sure he will on Saturday.

Has anyone posted a replay of that choudhury tackle at the end? Looked a penalty... -
I don't rate Doyle as highly as Justin but I think Doyle will be much better in the inverted full back role that we tried with Justin in the second half last match. So if we need an extra body in midfield at some point during the match, I suspect Enzo has a pre-planned tactical tweak to get Doyle to step into midfield alongside Winks and Hamza
-
Controversial opinion....but I can't wait for VAR to come back.... With VAR maybe we would have got 6 out of 9 points in the last three games instead of 0 points....
-
When Vestergaard comes back, it wouldn't suprise me if he tries to play him in the John Stones 'hybrid' CB role instead of playing an inverted full back like Choudhury / Ricardo. So vestergaard would step into midfield alongside winks when in possession and a back three will stay behind him (Justin Faes Coady or similar). Bold statement... but I think he rates winks and Vestergaard as the best in possession in our squad.
-
His drop on form has really effected the form of the overall team. He's been out best attacking player when the team been playing at their. He really needs to find some form for this final run in
-
He needs to link better with winks. Ricardo and winks are great at playing bounce passes off each other to break through the defensive lines. Hamza and Winks never do that so we miss a lot when they are playing together without Ricky
-
Playing KDH on the right sided No8 when yunus came on didn't work as KDH so one footed (left). He couldn't take the ball to the byline and cut back which is a key move for us in the half space. Also we seemed to try and play Justin as a second inverted full back in the second half to provide an extra midfielder. But that didn't work as he really can't play that role as we know. Ricardo is going to be a massive miss in Ndidi's absence
-
Can't play on the right side midfield because he is so one footed. Every time the ball was played to his right to run onto he had to turn back onto his left. For some reason we always seem to play yunus on the left
-
We tried to play him as another inverted full back in the second half but he showed that he really can't play that role
-
Nelson tried to play the runner offside but got it wrong. Should have dropped and tracked him as was too tight - think Enzo also admitted that on the radio interview. Justin should have done better to stop the pass though
-
I like Nelson but he was at fault for both goals. Not Faes or Justin
-
We really need Ricardo back for this game
-
Anyone got a video of the first goal? Who played their striker onside?
-
Me too. Stoke away....
-
Ricardo is one of the most skillful and naturally talented footballers I've seen at Leicester. You could genuinely play him in any of the outfield positions and he would do a good job which shows his high level of skill and knowledge of the game. Hopefully a big club doesn't come in for him in the summer now that he has proved his fitness and taken his game to another level by playing in the modern inverted full back position....I'm sure Pep would love him....

And the Middlesbrough miss....deserves a rest or at least to only play the first 60mins if he still hasn't scored -

Thought Nacho made a big impact off the bench. He dropped deep and linked with midfield to create the overload which helped us maintain possession in spells. He also was a good option for Stolaczyk - holding the ball up better and linking. Also got a good assist. I would give him at least 30mins next match and I think he offers more than Daka when he's got his match sharpness and it looks like he's regained that after the AFCON. -
