  1. Are you watching Top? I doubt it
  2. The inner ring road Eyres Monsell/Aylestone is a huge pain, they really need to add a couple of lanes to parts of it, roads always gridlocked
  3. Has anyone had plantar fasciitus and recovered well, apologies for deflecting the thread but I'm sure it's decent knowledge for runners, and its very frustrating
  4. My total expenditure has varied over the years from around £50-£75k I reckon, I’m only a sole trader, but that doesn’t take into account time off where you earn nothing, I’m also an old school gas fitter so trade slows a lot in the summer, I make 2 thirds of my money through the winter. When I started working for myself 14 years ago, many already doing it said you needed to earn £300 a day. It is scary when you break down everything. Lockdown 1 cost me £20k, as my company is Ltd, very little support from the govt, it’s a roller coaster that’s for sure
  5. Generally because customers don't understand how much it costs to run the business. If I quote for a new boiler, why should I break down the quote? If you don't like the price you'll go elsewhere, if i did break down the costs, you'd be like, why are you charging me £500 ! day? Because I need to pay for gas safe reg, ACS certification 5 yearly, analyser calibration, gas sniffer calibration, tools, uniform, diesel, van, van maintenance, van insurance, public liability, training days, holiday, sickness, I.T. equipment and software, pension, telephone costs, advertising, time spent working you arent on the tools, thats before you draw your wages, and lets remember the govt wants their cut.
  6. You said that trades want £500 a day. Yes they do, because as I know, when you break down the costs, that's what you need to earn to make a living. Now some trades are more costly to be in than others, Gas is certainly very expensive. The cost of living situation has just caused business costs to go up and up
  7. You'd be amazed how much it costs to run a business in the trades
  8. There are just some tradespeople that are arseholes, and totally untrustworthy, doesn't matter how you act. I'm a gas engineer and genuinely do my best for the customer, and have a good reputation as a result. I've had some trades in my houses over time, and some have been shocking, and I've probably been way too nice and they've given me the door mat treatment
  9. My own nan was from Highfields, was the place to be back in the day apparently
  10. I can share an interesting perspective in this debate, I’m a gas engineer and Leicester born and bred. For 9 years I worked in Stamford and Peterborough, but for 1 of my 10 years at British Gas, I worked Leicester South, mainly highfields. I then moved back to Leicester and sub contracted for Leicester city council, and worked in the private homes of people around Leicester and the shire for the rest of my 32 year career. I have seen the demographic shifts in the areas and imo there is concentrated areas of one ethnic group. one thing that saddened me recently was town. My wife, somebody who grew up in Loughborough, always prefers to go fosse park, the rare occasion I go to buy some clothes, I always persuade her to go town as I think it has more variety, but last time I went I think it has now got to the point where I think fosse park is better, I’m even thinking next time I go clothes shopping, I might go Nottingham or Birmingham, which saddens me a lot.
  11. Yet if I take the obligatory trip abroad for a break, I dont see any hose pipe bans there, they always seem to have the sprinklers out and they have a far worse prolonged summer than we do
  12. Well yeah, I kind of expect my government to address this stuff before allowing all these people into the Country, or dont allow them into the Country
  13. I wonder what adding 10 million plus to your population does to water supplies in a Country?
  14. I have no idea what you are going on about half the time. What do you mean our mileage differs? Is it because hes posted more or been a member longer? What are you trying to say in your last section?
  15. Mate, nobody dare say anything to argue the left wing narrative on here for fear you'll get banned. Will probably get banned again for posting this 🤣
  16. I don't know why there isn't some form of negligence prosecution for those responsible, if i make a mistake at work that results in a customer, injured or killed, i'm going to prison
  17. https://news.sky.com/story/murdered-sara-sharif-should-never-have-been-in-care-of-father-and-stepmother-damning-report-finds-13469475
  18. Gas/heating engineer, I use shoe covers but do take them off if I got to the van, dont wear big boots, I generally wear dark coloured clean looking trainers as I try looking smart, impressions and all that
  19. There are shows that are more biased than the BBC, GB news to the right, it still has to have people on the left like Benjamin Butterworth and Matthew Stadlen on for balance, but then you have Channel 4 which has always been the young left wing channel, with shows like the last leg, and Channel 4 news with Jon (i've never seen so many white people) Snow, thing is they use advertising for funding so need an audience to survive whereas the BBC doesnt have that problem because we're forced to pay for it
  20. How do you mean looking Russian? Do you mean they had a red backdrop with hammer and sickle in the top corner? Tbf, Corbyn is a Marxist.
  21. What like Iain Dale, Rory Stewert, Theresa May, David Cameron?
  22. Same as the BBC Gaza documentary that failed ofcom rules
  23. I don’t agree with any of that, I’d only like to see arguments from both sides of a debate, I don’t mind having my opinion changed, I’m not led by anything, that’s why I enjoy talking politics with people as long as it doesn’t get nasty.
  24. BBC verify certainly is
  25. People just dont want to be forced to pay for it
