King Power: A Tale of Rise and Ruin
splinterdream replied to MattFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Our downfall came from giving Rodgers a contract we couldn't get out of, giving sub standard players over inflated contracts so when we wanted to, we couldn't move them on, everything going stale with squad and management, amd then coming to a PSR dead end. Absolutely nothing to do with Seagrave. -
Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Why would we sell what we paid for him? He looks a real talent, unless of course we're screwed financially so we'll take what we're given -

Is it now public knowledge he doesnt have a release clause? You'd have thought if he did, someone would have snapped him up by now -

getting fitness right is tremendously difficult. It's said that Rennie was sacked because he was complaining Rodgers was over training the players warning of injuries, but then 22/23 season the players looked incredibly unfit, Tielemens was very overweight. Then there's style of play that can have a big impact, I'd bet enzo ball requiring fewer runs, then when we're defending in PL, we need that fitness, probabaly small fractions but it makes a difference and probably why sticking to a style is important -

you're right, which is why we need further investment or the KP group need to move on -

great use of the english language, not heard of that one before, but i would be in absolute melt down if we let that training ground go to rivals -

It's all about opinions, but this one is ridiculous imo. If they do sell, the training ground will sell the club -

Everything points to it's a rudkin/top team making impulsive decisions. In a way Enzo was a big gamble, but supposedly the decision was made with someone whispering in their ear, and they got lucky. They seem to be easily swayed and make multi million pound decisions without due diligence. I'm not sure we've been run decently since Pearson/Shakey/Walsh and the coaches and staff that were with them -

i guess if you employ a manager that impresses with his powerpoint presentation, and they sell a strategy, you either buy into it or you dont, and they bought into it. The problem Top has is it seems he doesn't have enough football people around him. We did go cheap with our transfer policy last summer compared to the other 2 but they failed also, worse than us infact. Last season all boils down to Cooper for me, I knew he was wrong from the start, and we all know who wanted Cooper. -

I mention the point because perhaps whilst we"re debating long term strategy, Tops strategy might be more short term which will could influence the decisions made on manager situation and transfer policy -

Tops strategy might be to get us up then sell -
I think you need an option of unsure or not arsed. I don't think Dyche is a bad appointment, but i think there are better, so i'm neither pro or anti
-
Serious question, how was dyche ball when he was last in the Championship? Isn't he known for playing a style best suited to what he has. I'm not a Dyche expert but are we judging him on his firefighting stints at Premier league Burnley and Everton?
-
I will, thanks for the advice, I'll look out for that

It's so you can have a show that's 90 minutes rather than 30 minutes

Watching interstellar again, could it be the greatest Sci-fi movie of all time? I know 2001 space odyssey is pretty high up there, but I think interstellar trumps it.

You know, I could take Wolves over taking us, I could take Villa over taking us, but to have Forest racing ahead now looking at developing the City Ground whilst we can't even afford to sack one of the worst managers in our history, its reallly tough to take.
-
He was given a task, and that was to turn us into from a counter attacking side to.a more possession based side, he needed to start with players who weren't comfortable with the ball and were being told to play football in a different way, despite having won the league. It was a huge task. He started by playing with 2 pivot defensive midfielders, and 1 forward, which is how Rodgers played, however the problem we had is we didn't have the talent to link midfield to attack and vardy suffered as he wasnt a kane type player, im guessing objections and in house squabbling was why he was dropped, nevertheless the job was completed when we signed tielemens and vardy did end up playing 1 upfront for the rest of his career. I dont know if all of that can be credited to Puel, but there was a reason Rodgers took us when he did, that's because he knew we were already set up very well

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")

And another thing, I cant have been the only one saying Perez was a forward/striker, it seemed so obvious to me yet we kept playing him as either a RW or a 10 -

What was he available for, it was £13m i think, had we have signed him and given Kasper an extension he was looking for, we'd never have gone down -

With respect, I disagree, he came on in games and changed it, when he played on the left he was better than Barnes imo at the time, and in hindsight, we couldn't afford not to sign him.
