  1. I'm going to keep telling myself he was caretaker while nobody else wanted the job due to potential points deduction. Can't bring myself to accept he managed our club for four months.
  2. 2 wins and we were dreadful across 90 minutes of those two games.
  3. Worst Premier League manager we've had after Taylor. Rodgers did more damage in the end but is far superior to Cooper.

    Best eva. Would've been even better if I'd read the name properly on the year clue for number 5. #WhenTaken #271 (24.11.2024) I scored 972/1000 (💡x1) 👑 1️⃣📍177 km - 🗓️0 yrs - 🥇193/200 2️⃣📍1.7 km - 🗓️8 yrs - 🥇189/200 3️⃣📍67.3 m - 🗓️1 yrs - 🥇199/200 4️⃣📍214 m - 🗓️4 yrs - 🥇196/200 5️⃣📍1.3 km - 🗓️💡5 yrs - 🥇195/200 https://whentaken.com
  6. Scouted by Craig Shakespeare no doubt
  7. Vardy never really had the benefit of elite coaching, or being round elite players in his early years. Considering that, I believe he is more talented than Kane and I'd argue one of the most talented English players of his generation. He is a very very intelligent player with some of the best movement I've ever seen, a seriously underrated finisher, and a brilliant team player. I think he's our highest assist maker in the PL. Like Schmeichel, the way he can elevate himself and those around him for big games is one of the main reasons we won two major trophies in 5 years. I think if Southgate had used him wisely we could've got past Croatia in 2018 and Italy in 2021. Rooney though might be the most talented English player I've seen after Gascoigne.
  8. he done learned good
  9. I suppose we have to psychologically prepare ourselves for Liverpool winning the league.
  10. I don't think they ever adapted the Alexandria Quartet for the screen. Might be difficult but would make a good series I think.
  11. God this is bad
  12. Inevitable.

  14. If James McClean hates England so much why does he play for the Irish national team and a Welsh club owned by Americans?! Well? Answer me that.
  15. 1994 was great. Round of 16 and 1/4 finals probably the best I can remember.
  16. Is it fair to say the US president has greater executive power than George III did in 1776.

  18. And there's seeding! Makes you realize again how great the FA Cup is and how we need to protect it. The Italians don't know what they're missing. Would love to see Roma having to negotiate a hard pitch and hostile crowd at Ascoli on a freezing January afternoon.
  19. Excellent stuff. I went to see Sudtirol a few times when I lived in Trento. They weren't in Serie B at the time, I think the first game I saw them play was against Gorgonzola, so they've come a long way. As you say it's beautiful sited with the Dolomites in the background. Didn't know that about the ultras, but makes sense. I always associate that area and Bolzano particularly with us winning the league. I was living in Trento in 2016 and watched us lifting the Premier League trophy in a Bolzano hotel room with a takeaway pizza and a few beers, before going for a long hike the next day in the Tiers valley in all its early spring glory. Was a wonderful weekend. It's a shame the Italian cup is so crap because with the diversity of regions in Italy you really could get some great and unusual ties - Napoli coming up for a replay in snowy Trento, or Inter having to go down to Monopoli in the 3rd round. Real missed opportunity.

    Depression

I think there is something quite dispiriting about living in modern Britain - a culture that generally values individual success and accumulation of wealth and possessions (which is unfulfilling in itself), running up against a state that increasingly makes that difficult to achieve. The built environment and weather often don't help either. I'm not diminishing what other people have gone through at all and I know that this is an extremely complex subject that I'm not really qualified to analyse that deeply. Obviously a lot of depression clearly can't be reduced down to "it's the weather". But I think it's worth acknowledging we all exist in a particular environment and society which obviously play a huge role in our physical and mental health.
  25. I suppose there is some truth in this but it's interesting how cities like Manchester and Liverpool have attempted to reinvent themselves as some kind of last socialist bastions against globalisation and corporate greed (and even Englishness in Liverpool) when they both basically owe their entire existence as major cities to industrialisation, empire and rapacious capitalism.
