    Recession

No it was to avoid people paying too much respect to our precious NHS and forgetting to get off the train.

    Recession

UK economy started stagnating before 2016 and has done so at the same time as increasing immigration. I am generally pro immigration, mostly because I also want to be able to live abroad, and don't blame it for UK's underperformance economically. But it certainly doesn't appear to boost the economy as much as some claim.

    Recession

If GDP grows at about the same rate or slightly less than population, then per capita growth is negligible or non-existent. I think we have pretty good body of evidence over the last decade that that immigration is not the best way to grow an economy.

    Recession

I feel like "I accept this bad decision because it annoys people I don't like" is at least partially to blame for a lot of our current woes

Quite surprised there's not an Our NHS line

This is the second worst bit of news today after the new overground line names
  9. I am a total luddite. I am supposed to be working from home but recently it's been very difficult to have video calls due to poor connection. Seems to be worse on zoom than others. Get messages pop up that the connection is unstable or there's not enough bandwidth. Did a speed test on my provider's website (Talktalk) and it came back as 'speed to router good' but 'speed to your device poor'. What is the reason for this mismatch?
  10. This is interesting and I've noticed something similar. People don't seem that invested. Social media has created this kind of diffused mush of a culture where everybody knows something about everything and only briefly get interested when there's something new and exciting. Like a dog distracted by something shiny. It's also on TV too much. It's like the overplayed clip from Mitchell and Webb. All the football all the time. Add that to the lack of competition in the PL and to be perfectly honest it can be a bit boring.
  11. Can't stand him. I think as usual he was trying to give us some memorable, end of season highlight-reel commentary. But he comes over as incredibly condescending. "You could weep for Leicester" lmao
  12. You can tell Drury really believed it was going to be pivotal. The twat.
  13. I would've looked good first half of that game. But I admit whilst not a full on Praet hater I'm not his biggest fan.
  14. 81 points would be huge considering some teams have got promoted in the 80s in previous seasons. Obviously it won't be enough this year but to hit it in mid Feb would be a big physiological milestone.
  15. Yes it's the stadium mostly, and then a bit because they're from Sheffield. I find a lot of their fans pretty arrogant, and this notion that they are a sleeping giant has really stuck around despite the fact that in the league over the last 25 years they've had similar ups and downs to say Barnsley maybe?
  16. I don't think you said anything particularly controversial. To say the second half was turgid is perfectly fair. I've noticed some people have got very touchy over the last few weeks about any comment they seem to think betrays a lack of appreciation for the football we're playing. Enzo's interview has got in their heads.
  17. We could potentially be on 96 points before the first day of spring
  18. Let's be honest we've been crap second half, not that it matters at all.
  19. baby squad?
  20. I thought so immediately
  21. atmosphere so good I can hear a small child chatting in the background
  22. Given the ball away a couple of times during promising buildups and overhit the pretty easy ball to Vardy. He's been fine overall though and I agree he's a bit picked on, which is inevitable because he hasn't contributed much this season.
  23. ooh ya date
