  3. From Moscow and Naples to a Spoons in a shopping centre
  4. Source? Seems too unlikely to be real.
  5. Chris O'Grady still playing for Grantham? What about Lee Tomlin?
  6. You need to make that move to Italy ASAP as you are quite clearly in need of civilizing.
  7. This is a bit sad.
  8. John Arne Riise is still playing, though for a very lower league team so maybe not professionally.
  9. Norfolk-Suffolk border conkers tournament 'encourages cheating' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-67056611
  10. It was all a dream...
  11. Great thread imo, looking forward to reading what is also in the news.
  12. puritan legacy, same in the US. Explains a lot of things in contemporary British society
  13. I'm always taken aback a bit when I read he's 26
  14. Polls suggest that Labour are on course for a majority and that England is not a very conservative country, not in terms of attitudes to social issues nor on the economy.
  15. According to the papers he said this morning Israel has the right to withhold water and power supplies although I haven't heard the actual interview. I guess that's what the Doctor is referring to.
  16. Guess so. 'Spaff jizz job done' got deleted last week so I'm not sure a thread on a 75 year long ethnic conflict in the Middle East stood a chance
  17. To be fair last time I checked that thread someone was questioning someone else's true intentions who then responded by calling the poster a dick or something along those lines
  18. In the last couple of days and for the first time ever I've actually cut a couple of old acquaintances from my social media. And I have basically no personal connection with the conflict at all.
  19. Stare Ignore anything suspicious Walk on the right Slide down the handrail Forget to bring a bottle of water with you Run when it's wet, I'm sure your shoes are grippy Deliberately rub up against that Chinese student sitting nervously next to you
  20. Huge generalisation but I feel Britain is the worst country I've been in bar none for security at events, which is ironic considering the amount of CCTV and posters everywhere telling you what to do and how to act
  21. Probably the most significant improvement in living standards in Britain happened immediately after the end of the Empire
  22. If other fans are that bothered about a club of our strength being in the Champ then they should take it up with the man currently residing in Glasgow who made it happen
  23. Anyone with half a brain knows this and doesn't need it spelling out for them but I was explaining why I think Palestinians get less sympathy than Ukrainians (in Europe I don't even know if they do to be honest). I also doubt you are that careful when referring to other states or peoples to avoid generalisations.
  24. I imagine the Palestinian cause gets less sympathy in Europe compared to Ukraine because: - Ukraine is on our side. Hamas and other anti Islamic fundamentalist groups are not only anti Israel but anti West in general and have condoned terrorist attacks in Europe. In the same way Russia has called for London and Warsaw to be nuked. - They're killing Jews and there are probably a couple of people even on this forum who were born when this was also happening in Europe. - They shoot up civilians and kidnap and rape women
  25. Perhaps I didn't phrase it as carefully as I should have done. I do have generally have sympathy for Palestinians. I would say though I am now much more neutral when it comes to their plight than say 15 years ago. The reasons being the rise of Hamas who are quite simply genocidal Nazis, the visceral images of barbaric terror campaigns such as the one this weekend, and the seeming inability of a lot of pro-Palestine activists to condemn this unequivocally (obviously I am very unfairly generalizing here). Also, Islamist terror attacks in Europe and the US were a big part of my formative years, and the groups that carried e.g. 9/11 and 7/7 were obviously explicitly anti-Israel. Additionally, I generally vote left wing but perhaps I am becoming more sceptical of far-left, loudly pro-Palestine groups and more conservative as I get older, thus more pro-Israel. I am quite well read about the history of the middle east but I don't know loads about the region post WWII, mostly because, as bad as this sounds, I'm generally not that interested in it. So I accept I have an understanding of the conflict that is skewed by my own personal politics and by the media that I consume.
