True. People are much more fragile. I wonder if that's due to socioeconomic factors or the fact that victimhood is not only seen now as a desirable characteristic but can also be lucrative. I guess the two things are linked.

Yes it's horrible. Being thinking about it all day.

Correct. Had a few of their beers and they're very good. This was lovely, not that dissimilar to Tiger which is a taste I like but is not always easy to find.

Tawney by Marble Brewery. Very nice bitter, not very hoppy.

Middlesbrough (H) 1-2 - Post-Match Thread

Makes it more interesting at least -
Praet is such a lackluster Perez esque player. Just totally uninspiring.

We seem to have really great runs then a couple of poor results which leads to another good run. Hopefully if we do lose this we can respond in a similar way.

If we end up in the playoffs it'll be over after one leg

Watching the scores come in in the same pub I watched the Leeds and Cov defeats. Gonna leave at ht and see if that works

But is it not that the use of helmets and pads has contributed to the sport becoming this violent?

I've had a couple of small ones. I do tend to catch them quite easily (like 4-5 a year) but I've tried to improve diet and habits in the last six months as well as taking vitamin supplements. I feel like I'm catching them less now but also when I do catch one it's a lot milder than before, like just a bit of congestion and thankfully only a day or two of a sore throat.

So much of the post game analysis centres on coaching decisions, schemes, tactics. It's interesting but I feel like there comes a time when it tests the limits of what sport actually is.

I think for those of us of a certain age those commentaries are seared into our memory. "That could be....."

Half of his 'iconic' monologues don't even make sense.

Samuel L Jackson films that never made it.

No it was to avoid people paying too much respect to our precious NHS and forgetting to get off the train.

UK economy started stagnating before 2016 and has done so at the same time as increasing immigration. I am generally pro immigration, mostly because I also want to be able to live abroad, and don't blame it for UK's underperformance economically. But it certainly doesn't appear to boost the economy as much as some claim.

If GDP grows at about the same rate or slightly less than population, then per capita growth is negligible or non-existent. I think we have pretty good body of evidence over the last decade that that immigration is not the best way to grow an economy.

I feel like "I accept this bad decision because it annoys people I don't like" is at least partially to blame for a lot of our current woes

Quite surprised there's not an Our NHS line

This is the second worst bit of news today after the new overground line names

I am a total luddite. I am supposed to be working from home but recently it's been very difficult to have video calls due to poor connection. Seems to be worse on zoom than others. Get messages pop up that the connection is unstable or there's not enough bandwidth. Did a speed test on my provider's website (Talktalk) and it came back as 'speed to router good' but 'speed to your device poor'. What is the reason for this mismatch?

I'm sorry

This is interesting and I've noticed something similar. People don't seem that invested. Social media has created this kind of diffused mush of a culture where everybody knows something about everything and only briefly get interested when there's something new and exciting. Like a dog distracted by something shiny. It's also on TV too much. It's like the overplayed clip from Mitchell and Webb. All the football all the time. Add that to the lack of competition in the PL and to be perfectly honest it can be a bit boring.
