  1. Are they stop-start sports? It works in say cricket or American football because it's a series of set plays between which the game stops. It doesn't work in association football.
  2. You have to admit it'd be funny if the man Rodgers replaced at Celtic goes on and wins the PL in his first season.
  3. I remember when Chelsea were seen as our rivals, perhaps more off the pitch than on it. No non-Chelsea fan should ever really be cheering on Chelsea. Apart from the one obvious game.
  4. What irritates people about Liverpool is that they use examples of offensive chants at their matches as evidence of what they believe is exceptionally scummy behavior towards them, and that this is because of who they are as a football club. Scouse exceptionalism. The chants are incredibly stupid though.
  5. when you said you had an unusual second name
  6. Unsuccessful in the ballot so if anybody has one spare....
  7. I think the full English is pretty popular outside of the UK, apart from maybe Spain where it has obvious connotations with the dreaded ex-pats. Italians love it. I wonder if for them it's a bit like us going and getting the spiciest thing at a curry house.
  8. Can't win them all.
  9. My last pint by the way was 7 days ago. And the previous one 7 days before that. Quite interesting and exhilarating to find out what non-drinkers feel like.
  10. Travelling by train, every non-London game for me is a new and exciting experience. Getting to the game on time and for under 50 pounds is less likely than a Leicester victory at the moment.
  11. please give some kind of explanation for this incredible and out-of-character act of self-harm
  12. Stagging tonight?
  13. Pound for pound the best signing in football history? Cost 1 million a year after Andy Carroll went for 35 million. In return we'e got 175 goals, countless assists, a promotion, and two major trophies. That's for a club that was mid-table second tier the season before he arrived.
  14. It was called 'Keeping a Clean Sheet' if I remember correctly. Darren Eadie was an extra.
  15. Yeah but they're like that in person too.
  16. we're trying to bury Ward as far as we can like some kind of nuclear waste
  17. Tbh I have no idea I'm just doing the 'why are Anglophones like this?' thing without actually having any evidence they are.
  18. Because they want to give S. America some games without giving them a whole world cup, basically.
  19. Because we can't do it in person. I have a theory that the hyper-toxicity of Anglosphere online discourse is partially due to the fact people in our culture try very hard to avoid conflict in person, and will often avoid controversial topics. Twitter at al are relief valves.
  20. Muzzy Izzet likes a post saying "9/11, while tragic, is a logical consequence of the America's heavy handed foreign policy in the Middle East" and instantly gets released for being a religious fundamentalist
  21. Disgusting and offensive
  22. Had a feeling it was that. Seen and heard it quite a lot recently. For what it's worth I think a lot of people use it without really understanding what it implies.
  23. so is anyone going to say what he said?
  24. You've found them - the person that finds Mrs Brown's Boys funny.
  25. I don't think that's true. Understanding basic football tactics and roles doesn't necessarily need great intelligence. Ok I've never met the guy and I wish him well but he seems a bit odd at least
