  1. Having just had a child with a non Brit, and trying to move to abroad, we've been coming into contact a lot with both British state bureaucracy and that of the mother's home country. It is quite surprising as you say how smooth and easy the process of obtaining stuff from the British state is. Unfortunately it feels like our elected officials are always threatening to make these processes more complicated and unsuccessful to win votes from a section of our society.
  2. Vardy's game today appears to be live on Talksport youtube.
  3. If those are the only two options to the UK at the moment then there are alternative socioeconomic models we can follow. After all there are many countries around the world that have neither. I think it's Anglocentrism to claim that we have to continue on the same path we have done for the last few decades because that's just the way things are.
  4. I actually think kind of the opposite - one of the reasons everything is ****ed is because people think the past is stupid and backward and we can't learn anything from it. And that anybody with reservations about the present direction is labelled as nostalgic or regressive. But I feel we're not going to agree on this.
  5. Most European towns are not full of vape shops and nail bars.
  6. Also find it interesting how many 'everything is ****ed' guys are also quite sceptical of voters being motivated by nostalgia, as if it's ok to think things are crap now but only if you accept certain things are crap and not others.
  7. I think it's pretty obvious that people who are 'nostalgic' for the past are unhappy with demographic and cultural change. Nothing particularly surprising or controversial about that.
  8. Only one man can save us, time to recall Faes
  9. All Fenerbahçe aren't we
  10. The weird thing about Farage is how little he is held accountable for the big thing we're not allowed to talk about, which I can only assume is because our media class is all terribly embarrassed that it happened and that many of them supported it.
  11. I think the past that British right wingers lament the passing of mostly did exist, it's just they are not particularly honest about why that's gone away, or how and to what extent we can get it back.
  12. Looking forward to someone saying Challinor "knows the club" because of the 2000 League cup final
  13. He's going to rename the month of April after his mum isn't he
  14. We were massive in the 90s - even had a LCFC shirt on the Jarvis Cocker cardboard cut out on TFI Friday.
  15. Er, Pearson was the manager when we won the third division no?
  16. People praising Fryatt, Kingy taking over, nostalgia for Pearson.... really getting ready for the third division eh.
  17. It's also a bit messy because there are probably tens of thousands of EU citizens that were settled in the UK and had kids and then left, and those kids are technically British citizens and now need a UK passport to come for a weekend in Liverpool...
  18. Sure I wasn't saying you're silly, but our wonderful government. It's such a ****ing pain in the arse. I thought my daughter qualified for British citizenship through descent, not that she was automatically one. Thanks for the link. This part interests me which I assume is for dual nationals: The Home Office confirms: “If you have a valid passport for a nationality that can get an ETA, you can use it to travel to the UK without an ETA or a certificate of entitlement.” But if you don't have a UK passport or certificate of entitlement how do you prove you're a UK citizen Jesus... Having said all that I understand this won't be enforced before Feb 25th...
  19. He was a Peter Taylor signing that was actually good, so the guy is clearly special.
  20. The more I think of this the sillier it is. Let's say an Aussie (Bruce), 50 years old, lived in Oz all his life and with an Oz passport, wants to come to London for a week. His Dad, long since deceased, was born in Manchester, so Bruce is technically a dual Oz/British citizen but didn't need a pommie passport. Are you saying he now needs one to enter? For a start, how are border forces going to know he's a British citizen when he walks up to the kiosk? I don't really see how this is practical or feasible.
  21. I don't think Farage is that interested in actually winning the election. Wouldn't be good for the grift.
  22. Apes are magnificent creatures?
  23. Does that make them friendlier to us then?
  24. Thanks, that's how I understood it. Pain in the arse.
