City of Leicester & Leicestershire - The Good and Historical Stuff

In a normal Championship season I always feel like the play-offs momentum is with the teams that finish 5th/6th as it's almost like a bonus chance for glory and you're riding on a high from finishing in those positions and getting in there. This season, with the points tally for the top 3 being so high (even 4th as Southampton are likely to finish on an abnormally high total as well), you would imagine it's going to feel like a massive blow to whoever ends up finishing 3rd. It will take a massive regroup. I feel Ipswich would be able to do it and be up for it, however us and Leeds, after probably expecting to be going up, it would be a hard one to swallow.
-
I think we're going through a rough/tough period tbh and I feel since the Coventry loss in Jan, a lot of teams have kind of sussed out how we play and we've not really looked like we have a plan B either. However, in Enzo's defence he is quite limited with the squad we have, in the areas where we need to rotate more, on the wing and in the middle of the park, we don't have a lot of options, whereas the areas where we don't need to rotate so much, in defence or up front we've got a lot of options and up front in particular, no one has really set the league on fire and others have been disappointing when they've come in. I still think he has a good idea of how to play football but most of our players are knackered after a long season and he doesn't have the quality on the bench where we need it. However, as luck would have it, it seems that Ipswich and Leeds are looking the same at the minute too. Got my fingers crossed we somehow manage to pull our fingers out for the last 5 games to get us over the line.
-
We've got 6 games in 25 days, beat Millwall and Plymouth away in the next week and we're well on our way. If we lose or drop points in these games the pressure on the final 4 becomes immense - we need 6 points this week we've got to go strong,
-
I do hope their (Southampton's) fans do boycott this game as £47 for an away ticket in the Championship is mad. It looks like Southampton are pretty much nailed on for 4th now anyway so they'll most likely want to go to the PO games or Wembley if they get there.
-
You posted that Leeds were initially willing to charge £27 for those same seats so it's them that have then decided to go all the way back up to £47. I'm sure there's seats in our ground close to the away section that will most likely cost our fans more than away fans a few rows away - I'm guessing, I don't know what we charge away fans at our ground. Would be interesting to know if Southampton's £30 was in line with their own fans in the same stand/area.
-
So Leeds were apparently happy to charge £27 then when Southampton wanted £3 more, Leeds then decided they actually wanted to charge £20 more? Sounds like Leeds are just being greedy and no matter how loyal you to your own club their fans should be calling them out for stuff like this.

I didn't comprehend how bad the issue was until recently. I think I watched a Geowizard video on YouTube where he attempts to walk across Birmingham without using roads. There's quite a few instances where he walks along and through rivers and streams and there's sh*t and all sorts in the waterways which was unbelievable until you read up on it.

Well played Martyn McLaughlin whoever you are, pledging a grand - amazing.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
lcfc278 replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Maths and numbers are not my strong pioint at all so I'm struggling to understand this one. The new owners wrote off £71m in loans that the club owed, and they've recorded this as an income? How is that done? Do they put on the accounts that £71m was put in their account and then a week later or whenever after the deadline it goes back out to pay off said loan? -

Did the same for Leeds and they are; 19/20: +€30m 20/21: -€127m 21/22: -€59m 22/23 -€43m For comparison Leicester's are; 19/20: -€16m 20/21: -€6m 21/22: -€63m 22/23 +€32m I don't get it. Is it purely wages that have messed us up? -

With most clubs posting their accounts are we likely to see any other clubs come under the same scrutiny we have recently? Looking purely at transfers I thought I'd look at Southampton using transfermarkt - tbh this season they've done pretty well with a +€165m (€187m income and only spending €22m) However for the previous few years it's not been great, with totals of; 19/20: -€34m 20/21: -€11m 21/22: -€3m 22/23 -€146m In particular with last seasons net loss which was massive, surely their last 3 year period has got to be close too no? They can't have that much more income than us can they? -
Surely even more reason for him not to want to get injured then with no security
-
As if they're counting Tottenham's home games there like they're some sort of achievement. Embarassment.

Yeah, looked like he didn't take it seriously at all. I think Wales have got quite a decent side coming through at the minute, still got some old heads they probably need to sack off now but couple of years they could have a decent team. They need to find a GK though, the fact their No.1 is third choice in the championship and hasn't played this season, not great.

Drinking in the mornings is fun sometimes but go easy pal!

Wow. Surely not a good way to run any business is it?

'Out of the way of Top' in terms of so he doesn't have to deal with them like admin-type, run of the mill stuff that he shouldn't have to deal with or 'Out of the way of Top' as in make sure he doesn't find out about them / things he doesn't need to know about kind of thing?

Does anyone on here have any recommendations for a windows and doors company in the Leicester/Leicestershire area? Looking at having all of the windows replaced but don't fancy going to one of the big boys like Safestyle or Everest.

If we're working out from the two instances that it's between 4 - 6 points per breach, how long will it be before a team decides it's worth spending that extra £m for a player and offsetting 4 - 6 points as part of the process by gambling said player will earn them back the points they would lose. -
I think the Elite League Squad is the U20's (the one below the U21's/23's whatever it is called now.

Genuine question but what are the best local non-league teams to go and watch and just have a bit of that authentic football feeling? Fed up with top level football at the minute, it just feels like it's lost its soul and I don't think I've ever felt so disconnected to Leicester in my 30-odd years of supporting them either. Add in the Super league nonsense, the current EPL/EFL money/deal thing going on at the minute, FFP and all that, the standard of reffing and VAR - it's not the same game I grew up loving and I have a feeling it's the same for a lot of fans around the country at the minute too.
-
No games on general sale since the 2 Tuesday evening games with Swansea and Sheff W and the FA Cup game with Brum. No word from the club if they'll do anymore. Kind of done with it atm.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but there would have been uproar if we'd sold him that summer.

Absolute shambles. Yes the rules seem like a joke but the fact that, even knowing about the rules, that we're in a position where we have to do this. What a joke.
