The 25/26 Stat Topic - “Statistically Terrible, Visually Even Worse”
Stadt replied to Sly's topic in Leicester City Forum
It's also the approach. We were shredded away at Preston when we tried to press higher because we were too disjointed and the back line was too slow. Instead of changing the team selection and maintaining the approach, we kept playing a very similar XI and engaged deeper. A less 'talented' but more mobile, transition-y team could work better but Cifuenets doesn't deviate much from his initial approach at all. We don't have an Ndidi-like defensive midfielder, even not quite at his peak he was still a fantastic ball winner and our fanbase probably took him for granted. Any combination of Winks, James, Skipp, Soumare is lacking defensively. I think we may end up seeing Choudhury in midfield again (good enough for a 90+ point season at Sheffield Utd last season). -

Probably not but we don't compare favourably to Midddlesborough, Cov, Bristol City and Millwall who don't have parachute payments or weren't as good as Enzo's team either. Do we have the 10th best squad or 18th best on xGD? Absolutely not. -

Equally, you could choose to read the “25/26 Stat Topic” not click the link, not read the original post, not read the following posts and choose not to post your trite response either. -

Stolarcyzk is joint top for most post shot xG prevented too. We should be about 15th and it’s a couple of Fatawu screamers propping us up atm -
Marti Cifuentes - Style of Play, Tactics and Analysis
Stadt replied to StriderHiryu's topic in Leicester City Forum
If we have to be wedded to this shit system (he almost never deviated from 4231 at QPR) then st least play Aluko. Provides the ability to underlap if he’s on the left and provide receiver pace. If he’d played like Thomas has - most would say he’d (Aluko) never make it. Much better carrier too so he can open the game up, Thomas moves and receives the ball like he’s made out of MDF -
Individual quality will bail us out but the individual quality in Fatawu, James, Monga and Ramsey won't be here next season - then we might drop

We've appointed 2 managers already in a job under the Thais ever. Even one of those was the man they seemingly forced out to make way for ****ing Paulo Sousa in the first place. Not that they've even paid any attention to any managers, you can only draw up a managerial shortlist AFTER you've sacked the incumbent. If we do sack Marti they'll go to transfermarkt out of work coaches and try and contact the 5 or 6 they've heard of, get told to **** off by 4 and appoint Gary O'Neil

Which is still huge progress from where they have finished - we're 18th for xGD with Opta's model . Their squad is pretty poor but Stephan is a good manager he won the league cup and had Rennes qualify for the Champions League. He got Strasbourg into Europe for the first time in years too.
-
Stephan is doing well 20th 18th (Cifuentes arrived part way through 15th Currently 9th He's been very good in France and certainly a better appointment than Marti would have been. Rudkin has never heard of him though despite him being Rennes' manager when we played them

At QPR, first season he went 12-7-10 Second season 13-14-18 At Hammarby 1.87 ppg first season Second season 1.47 That doesn't suggest he just needs time, averages almost half point a game worse off in his second season.

In the 3rd percentile for tackles.

Daka Mavididi Fatawu James Winks Aluko Okoli Vestergaard Nelson Pereira Stol Let's see some width and rotation out wide, we know the wingers can score and our strikers can't. So we should try and get them in better goalscoring positions. Our conventional fullbacks offer nothing aside from Pereira so we might as well try WBs -

I don’t understand why our loans were sorted so late - we could have maxed out our quota by the 1st of August so weren’t scraping the barrel for Carranza. Although I guess somebody will come along and make some excuses for the club like usual. Guiu wouldn’t have been unrealistic if we acted early.
-
Frey got 8 goals for QPR last season. Dykes got 8 the season before. 22-23 his strikers did well at Hammarby, at Aalborg you guessed it 8 goals. Style of play isolates the strikers, they have 3.1 xG between them, even Wednesday’s forwards have almost double.
-
And however many million? The manager is extremely important in a rebuild and Cifuentes’ teams don’t score enough because the style of play is too blunt. Giving him 2 years will be 2 wasted years. Good managers hit the ground running.
-
He needs 5 games, no 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, actually give him the season. No standards mean the fanbase are fine with their own redlines crossed time and time again. We’re genuinely an incredibly lenient fanbase and some on here think we’re Ultras Sur for expecting a frisson of competence. Staggeringly few managers in the modern game start badly and turn it around - citing Ferguson or O’Neil examples are extreme survivorship bias cases.
-
Yes he’s better but the point is he’s an average championship forward historically. Even if we had a 1 in 3 championship striker they wouldn’t score because we don’t create anything resembling a chance
-
You could make allowances for the “it’s the same shit squad” argument if he’d done his utmost to play the younger hungrier players. He hasn’t. He’s sided with Faes, Vestergaard, Winks, Ayew, Reid, Thomas, Choudhury
