  1. There were probably a few dozen Celtic fans but I think they must have written multiple questions each and/or the interviewer harper back to them too much. The turnaround in 96/97, play offs, survival etc were sort of skirted over. He was in great form though, really engaging and you can tell he is an effusive character. The best anecdote was probably telling off one of the Japanese lads (didn’t yet know them) in the dressing room for talking whilst he was, stressed that he liked silence, he asked him to be quiet, the guy bowed his head to apologise… it was Maeda and Hatate’s interpreter - of course he was talking!
  2. How many clubs get relegated 3 times in 4 years against the backdrop of record losses?
  3. 1. He's primarily had the backing of the fans on here, the tide has only turned (too late) when it's apparent he's not fit to run the club. 2. The abuse is warranted because he has abused the club with his negligence. 3. He is a shyster. Which is why we're in bed with BC Game, they could hardly be more disreputable. 4. An asset stripper could only be interested in us because we're not a functional football club anymore - why is that? 5. Do you feel more for Top or the club?
  4. It'd be odd to refer to Ranieri as Signor Claudio, and that's as somebody deserving of reverence from the fanbase. The emperor's new clothes act at the club is embarrassing. Vichai did at least instil some standards, culpability and substance. The kid gloves and deference to Aiyawatt is sickening.
  5. It didn’t really need a refurb but then again local drones do start flocking to pubs once they’ve been done up. Looks as though the Old Horse has never been so busy
  6. Everything we do is so telegraphed, we'll try for Martin and he'll say no and then it's back to the drawing board, panic stations, then just giving the job to somebody grateful and out of their depth.
  7. It's hard to know what to do - Slot maybe just was the perfect fit at that time - by sacking him in a post-Guardiola PL though they're being aggressive. Iraola is coveted so they have to move fast. Not going for Alonso is the interesting thing, maybe they think the opposite to you and positional play football really is dead.
  8. At a wedding on Friday - a pint of Pravha at the Grand Central was £9, the Charnwood bottles were £8.40 - a fookin disgrez. I was at a wedding on Saturday as well (feeling it now) at Bourton Hall in Warks and a pint of Asahi was £6.50 which felt very reasonable in comparison.
  9. Seems a bit trite to say because the name is similar but Frog Island in another time could have been our Kelham Island. The Keepmoat waterside scheme was such a waste of prime waterside land, 2 or 3 storey townhouses when even some midrise apartments would have added good massing.
  10. Sometimes even smart clubs get things wrong, football is hard. Their kept their powder dry (sensibly) but went mental without addressing the Salah and VVD issue. It might be that they think VVD can go on for years, or there was just nobody out there worth the money but it was a daft window and I thought so at the time. Jacquet (sp) might be great, Wirtz might make a leap but there are just structural things wrong with that squad. If they appoint Iraola (I'm a huge fan) that may give them the uplift they need but he does tend to burn his players out and their lack of depth is odd. They desperately need at least one very good CB, probably two DMs and to replace arguably their best player.
  11. Very midlandsy and NW heavy
  12. They spent obscene amounts given Salah and VVD are (or were) their best players and both way past their peaks. They're really smart typically but last summer was dumb
  13. I think he's the player that' benefitted the most from a single system and manager - Pep is responsible for 60% of his PL goals
  14. We've had 4 managers in two seasons with different plays styles and personalities, a coach, especially one just starting out isn't culpable for this mess. In his interim spell he had two first half red cards ffs. He might have gotten preseason wrong but he was thrown into the deep end by the club without any help from an experienced head at all.
  15. I wasn’t being hyper literal but he was sacked at his last two for being in charge of his club’s worst ever seasons
