We used so much of the rebuild capital on accumulation similar nothing-y players. Cullen, Chaplin, Burns and Smallbone is insane when we already had Reid. We stacked our loans up with 10/wingers too with the exception of McFarlane. A younger GK, a younger DM and left footed LB/CB option would have added way more balance. We’ve spent a lot of money relatively for our financial position but it’s been quite badly allocated really. It has to work out.

Loaning out a 17 year old is also quite unusual. Moving (as in unrooting) twice in about 3 months at that age isn’t good for development. Being on loan here and playing even 35 minutes a game in a familiar environment will help

Long term I think Braybrooke at RAM and Alves RWB is probably a bit awkward on the RH side. Riis Doyle Alves Lundstram Page Thomas JJ CB CB CB GK Is probably our best team and very harsh on Braybrooke

Parafox has been on this forum for absolutely ages, he’s obviously a proper fan - not being impressed with beating a team we just shouldn’t be playing is completely natural. Just as it’s natural to be happy with our first comfortable win so far. I’m more in the former group than the latter but I can see both sides.

Smallbone, Chaplin, Cullen and Reid all on is the most physically ineffectual attack there’s ever been. Really hope that’s happened because the game is won and not something Martin thinks is ok

They are completely out of their depth crikey. We finally have a team out of decent attacking players though and it really shows. Doyle is excellent.

I picked this up in the second hand book shop on Silver St not realising it's about telling the national story but through the lens of Kibworth. Merton College have owned land there for almost 800 years so the records are possibly the most intact of almost anywhere in Britain (not far off in the world maybe?). It's really great, the TV series is worth a watch too.

There is the John O'Gaunt viaduct too which is probably the most under-visited landmark in the county. Nearby Burrough on the Hill is the site of an iron-age hill fort and absolutely worth walking around too, it's really evocative, the ramparts are impressive earthworks. Stag and Hounds does a lovely lunch too and its next door to the Parish Brewery who did at one stage hold the world record for strongest beer by abv.

For the culture war aspect, he doesn't actually get much flak for being a self-professed Green voter, there is a bit of stick for being a vegan but that's quite tame - all things considered. Even putting aside the obviously terrible results, he comes across as arrogant because there's zero self-awareness or reflection. He often interrupts the softest of interviewers, doesn't ever consider the possibility that he might be wrong. He'll throw his players under the bus and will always blame nebulous things like collective anxiety rather than any glaring coaching/tactical issues. In a nutshell, it's a confidence trick because there is no substance behind the man to justify how committed he is to repeatedly failing.
