  1. Went and got Headingly - First Test, First Day tickets today. Looking forward to it.
  2. It was 75% tho - rates for the average pub & restaurant expected to near double.
  3. The increase threshold for employers to claim back is very good smaller businesses. The Tax Thresholds altering as well ends up being a bona fide increase in take home salary. I actually think the worst action is the increase in business rates because that is going to hurt hospitality big. Interesting thing is of course about the furore on NI is that it's not far a repeat of the plan Johnson had in 2022.
  4. I think their train service is an unheralded success of public ownership; high speed trains, well used, very good reach. There are geographical location similarities but equally a couple of huge mountain ranges which make it difficult. You look well they coped with the attempted disruption to the Olympic Games with their high speed lines.
  5. CPS/Police are sometimes conflicted on release of information; they have to question if it prejudices their case. The worry I suspect for them would have been contempt of court situations arising. When people say they can't trust anymore in regards to legal proceedings, it's often a battle of avoiding the case they are dealing with being prejudiced and affected. Tommy Two Names nearly completely collapsed a case against a Huddersfield based paedo ring because he started sharing information which was prejudicing the case. Thankfully there was still 20 convictions and over 220 years of prison time sentenced. EDIT: @urban.spaceman already mentioned all this.
  6. Exactly the same take on my visit last year. The walk from the station to the stadium is a right horrible journey. Ground is like Reading's. Was amazed to find a craft beer bar in some office complex open when we went. You've slightly done over on the fixtures as normally Emilia-Romagna is good for a double day visit.
  7. Don't know your travel plans but Friday night has Reggiana v Sassuolo - basically the real club of EMilo Reggia v the squatters
  8. Don't think that's particularly fair. Napoli were looking to push him out of the door and put a daft price tag on him. Then they absolutely shit the bed when the Saudi deal didn't come off. Conte replaced him his old buddy Lukaku. Napoli were aggressive in trying to sell him. Anyway, Serie A is cooking nicely. Napoli are dangerously building a lead, Conte has his no European weeks and they have the system now in situ that he loves. Although they've been fortunate with fixtures to date. Meanwhile Inter look tired, Juve outside of the 4-4 are too defensive. The next four of Fiorentina, Lazio, Atalanta and Udinese have all started the season superbly well. Roma are an utter disaster at the moment. Milan, outside of their superb derby win, look very unbalanced. Every chance Lazio & Atalanta challenge into the top four race. The bottom of the table is wide open - about 8 teams look about the same quality and keep beating each other - a week ago Nesta was going to be sacked by Monza but he's pulled four points out of the bag. Genoa and Venezia appear nailed on for relegation yet they've still claimed some unlikely points. Parma & Como are both really good to watch but can't defend. Sadly Serie B looks bloody dreary - Sampdoria, Bari, Palermo, Brescia are all treading mid-table water.
  9. Even as an obsessive and general anorak of the sport, I miss the unknown of it. The game is so globalised that we know every player, every team, every league etc. When Red Star turned up to Filbo, no-one had a clue about their players rather than the myth of their early 90s team. World Cup's were intriguing until about 2006 - 2002 is probably the last edition when people really didn't know who played for say Senegal. Such like the number of games, tournaments etc. - less is more.
  10. I started going slightly out of these times but even now the whole notion of picking up a spare is dying due to mobile tickets etc. It's hilarious when English supporters watch a game abroad and can't work out why tickets aren't on sale until two weeks to ten days (most of Southern Europe excepting the superclubs). Football in the UK has joined a lot of society in the UK is so utterly uniform, lacking uniqueness. 80% of the country looks the same, everyone dress the same and does the same things. Subcultures are a dying thing over here. Culture is dictated by money jumping onto a growing trend. The saddest thing on that society point is now how the cost of living is killing things such as pub culture which by default led themselves to community.
  11. The nature of Amorim's press conference does make me think he's trying to get the job delayed until next season. His Sporting team have something to go out on. Also him trying to mould his system with this Manchester United team needs a pre-season.
  12. They are called Nuneaton Town! Big game next Wednesday v Bilston - decent ground Bilston as well. The 'town' as such is something out of medieval times though
  13. McGhee wasn’t a disaster - he had us around the top six after having a team clearly not good enough for the top flight, just did a shithouse move
  14. Don't disagree Daggers. Wouldn't be spending most Saturday afternoons going around the Midlands watching non league. Just disputing the notion about a football ideal on the pitch
  15. Fck me intervals on the canals these days
  16. https://destinationcalcio.com/calcio-weekender-bari/ Sign me up
  17. I am a fully paid up member of the NL Experience but the style of football even as low as Step 5 is becoming very stale. The FA is creating coaches of system rather than talent.
  18. Couldn’t think of a player more ill fitting for a relegation battle than ‘Chilly’. Alongside his terrible injury record
  19. Core strength builds brother.
  20. I see your point - personally I'd be conscious of sharing content with such narration
  21. Well, on Sunday we had the biggest ever collective football attendance in history in one English city. It was London, the games on that day were Crystal Palace v Tottenham, West Ham v Man Utd, Chelsea v Newcastle and Arsenal v Liverpool. The total number of people attending were approx 187,000. It beats the record of 160,000 set in the years of 1947, 1948 and 2022. Quite astonishing if you are as old as me and can remember the low crowds of the 1980s!
  22. I see this constantly on this thread 'shake up the song book' 'your songs choice is rubbish' You have an individual have the ability to change that if you want to improve it. People are conceding responsibility by saying 'yeah but UFS do this' - you can change that, it just takes using your gob and getting it going between fans Football crowds are democracies - you think there's a better way, have a go. The crowd will follow whatever everyone likes regardless of what UFS do or even want. That's been the case since chanting started. It shouldn't be up to a collective of 50 people to write a songbook of songs for the club Allez Allez is the original ultra tune - in the 1980s the Italians used it from an Italian pop song. Alongside that now its the most bastardised rent-a-chant going. The Ulloa song which absolutely boomed has origins back in the Ultra scene in Argentina. Basically every song which keeps catching on in the UK currently between supporters is generally coming from Argies, to South Europe onto Northern Europe.
  23. Yeah that's not a good video. Don't really see why the need to make a left or right thing though unless you want to hang around in the echo chamber of Alex Armstrong etc. Bad parents on all different scales of the political spectrum.
  24. https://footballshirtcollective.com/blogs/interviews/rob-warner-designer?srsltid=AfmBOooWOpfncraBUucS5LJYThxDDGXr5NKpAUmBIpRusc_6iurlRyoG The bald fella on the right is this chap
