  1. Which is what I intend to do. The problem is, one never knows how good or bad a service can be until you need it yourself. And, of the few times I've needed assistance, the RAC were excellent. That might not be everyone's experience. The one time I need GF it was poor. Again, that might not be everyone's experience. Pay your money, take your chance.
  2. But for me it's not just about taking complaints seriously, it's about service response at the time of need and GF failed and then failed again with customer service as I have yet to get through to someone so I can cancel my policy.
  3. Check the reviews. Some good for simple fixes. Mostly bad for the more difficult ones.
  4. I didn't know which topic to put this in so I started one. What are people's experiences of these? I have used the RAC in the past but I decided to go with Green Flag for the last year as I found the RAC and the AA a bit pricey RAC were very good on the two occasions I had to call them out a few years ago. A few days ago I had to call GF as I had the red engine management warning light come on and it advised me to stop. I was on the hard shoulder of the M6. I took 35 mins to get through to them. I explained the problem and that I was in a risky location. I was told there would be someone with me in 45 mins. 1hr 30 mins later, I call again to be told that the original allocated garage had been diverted to a nearer job to them but I could expect a recovery truck to arrive within an hour. Sure enough someone did arrive in a van. He took a look under the bonnet and said nothing was obvious i.e an oil or fuel leak or a "snapped cam chain". He then said he had no diagnostic kit with him but he would tow me to the nearest services where I should wait for an onward tow to a garage local to me. This was now 7pm. I sat in my car at the services for another hour. Nobody turned up. I rang GF again and they said they had no record of a request to tow me. I gave them the initial reference number and the name of the garage that had attended on the M6. No record. However they did agree to send a tow truck to my location. I waited another 90 mins until someone showed up. They said they could tow me to a garage of my choice but there was a maximum of 10 miles that was free. Anything above that and it was (I think) 16p per mile. I was near Birmingham. Today, I tried to contact GF to complain and cancel my cover. I waited 2 hrs on the phone before giving up. The on-line chat won't accept cancellations. You have to speak to an agent. I can't cancel any direct debit because there isn't one. I paid the fee by giving them my bank details and that can't be cancelled. I will eventually get it sorted but GF plainly are just an awful company. They're cheaper for a reason.

Sad to watch that, as a football fan.
  6. I disagree. The skills and techniques include keeping "gloves up" to protect the head and face and duck and weave to avoid head shots then counter punch your opponent. That's an integral part of the points scoring system. I do agree however, that there needs to be a way of reducing the risk of brain damage as a result of direct trauma to the head. Maybe more padding in head guards and gloves, but use technology to include sensors that register point scoring blows? Unfortunately many people watch boxing in the hope that there will be a dramatic knock-out. And pay good money in pursuit of that. Anyone who is knocked unconscious has, by definition, sustained a brain injury.

  10. Watched this and to see the two of them on TikTok "performing" was really uncomfortable and weird. The mother was probably more culpable than the daughter of inciting the events that led to the deaths of those guys in as much as it was her that was breaking the "code" of her religion and became scared of being found out and therefore risked being shunned by the community she lived in and wanted the potential blackmail threat removed. The daughter seemed over-eager to protect her mother, though, saying she knew people who would sort it. I doubt any of those that were guilty expected the tragic outcome but, at no point did any of those in the chasing cars say it was going too far.
  11. Well, aren't they the picture of decent parenting and a sound educational background? Maybe one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

  14. I doubt, from what I've read, that she has the intellect to act by herself in order to gain financially. The possibility of her trying to gain attention to fill a void that he parents seem to have failed to fill is entirely possible. It irritates me that people will, without any understanding of mental health, put individuals in convenient boxes to suit there own agenda.

  16. I don't think anyone has suggested hoof-ball. Certainly not me. OK it might be exasperating at times when we hold the ball in our own half and pass back and side to side and I get that. I also get that Enzo wants us to play in this way. I also agree that sitting on a 1-0 lead hoping to see the game out, is not a great way to play. And creates much anxiety. The problem also is, if you come out and press early you risk the chance of going behind which then results in chasing the game and continuing a high press leaving you vulnerable to a counter. Being cautious and probing for weaknesses early on might just open teams up later. As seems to have been proven so far.
  17. Not a chance. Who? Who was available? Allardyce? Hodgson? Old farts and has beens. The club took a chance on Enzo, sure, but look how that has paid off. Would you rather have Pearson back. You're an ostrich.
  18. Is there a bar? And a taxi home?
  19. You're correct, that is an unpopular opinion. Not all of either of those vast genres is universally shit, as you seem to imply. I could equally state that all sci-fi films are shit because I don't much care for that type of film. I hate Star Wars, but I really liked Alien and the sequels. There are some relatively recent excellent Westerns. And there is also some excellent modern country music from highly acclaimed and well established young(er) country music artists. Brad Paisley, Blake Skelton, The Shires (British), Lady Antebellum among many, many others.
  20. Haunted by not knowing who she really is. Troubled by mental health issues. Sad and immature, yes. Vindictive and out to make a fast buck. No IMO.

  22. We are currently going through something similar although our daughter hasn't done the final deed but has made numerous threats. We have contacted the GP, (nothing they can do unless she presents with injury or illness at their door),the police, (nothing they can do either unless she is a threat to herself or others) the MH services, (same) the crisis team (same). We have done it just so there is evidence that we have asked, pleaded for help if it comes to the worst and there is an inquest. If nothing else, we've done our best. What any of the services do or don't do, is on their conscience. Not that they have one. People like this are just a problem that needs to be moved on or ignored.
