Huge game and I really don’t feel like we’re ready for it

I had a charlton stream on, they were raving about our backline and even stated “ I wish they were bringing on Thomas for the other Thomas”. Funny how things are viewed differently depending the side you’re on. For them, we were a gritty team hard to break down. Where as to us, we simply were allowing too many chances. both were kinda true. probably shouldn’t have been allowing the danger but we did for the most part deal with the pressure well

Superb defending and keeping, not something we’ve been able to say much. a team full of confidence vs one completely lacking. That’s a good result! Never easy playing a team with momentum.

i think we should be careful with pointing fingers and laughing here, the damage last season would have done to our whole squads confidence, can’t be under estimated. we have plenty of players that could and should be much better but the toxic nature of our season has drained them. i look at players like mavididi and they just look a shell of themselves. Marti has a huge job on his hands and i hope we have a good sports phycologist around the club

3 of the clubs big sales in recent times have come from the academy (Barnes, chillwell, mcateer). our catchment area is bailing the club out of constant bad business.

I’m going to stay as optimistic as I can. if bilal goes for 30m justin for 5 kristansen loan soumare loan (plus any of the other duds) And we can bring in a striker , a cam, and a cm. (All 3 are currently a necessity) I think I’d consider it a good window. Trimmed wages, good for psr and a few of the dead donkeys out the club. All too late for any real praise but it would at least be good steps towards damage control.

Agreed. I’ve played with players like him before, all the tricks and look nice but don’t actually offer any output. I’m not convinced his passing or shooting are of a premier league standard and maybe he’d get away with it as an 8 keeping things ticking over but short of playing for man city or Liverpool, more is needed from a 10. I think it would be excellent for us to bring in 30m for him I really do. That’s more than we got for Barnes I have a niggling feeling if he stayed his numbers would be mediocre and he’d end up being seen as just another ghezzal

You’d imagine any deal we chase will be loan with an obligation to buy. Probably the right way to go about it as well but might explain some of our delay as clubs may want to see what our deduction would be before agreeing to that

Well the club would say we don’t need him because of mcateer. Or at least I’d imagine they would But hard to argue he wouldn’t be an upgrade. I just really hope Marti is exploring if any of these wide players can play in the middle
