We did that with Soumare last time we got relegated. The problem with that approach is that Soumare came back 🤦‍♂️

Soumare, Vestergaard, and Faes all expire at the end of the season. However, we can’t afford to keep letting players expire rather than being sold as we lose tens of millions that way not recouping our initial transfer outlay. I wouldn’t put it past the club extending a couple of those contracts as it would be cheaper than buying replacements….

We are not going up with Soumare as a starting midfielder, it does not matter who the other 10 on the pitch are with him. The only reason we went up under Enzo was because we loaned Soumare out for the season.

That’s not unexpected given we’ve been a PL club for most of the last decade m, and these big contracts were signed when we were pushing for regular European spots.

Ricky is never fit. I think he’s been injured 95% of the last three seasons.

The squad is exactly the same as it’s been for last 2 seasons, there is nobody to settle.

Our fans are in reality no different from fans of other clubs. The difference is that apart from the Maresca promotion season, our performances, and the club’s ambition, have given fans nothing to cheer for. We have a quite unlikeable collection of players, along with crap and arrogant managers, that we have watched for several season let us down with poor performance after poor performance, 2 relegations in 3 seasons, and we’ve seen everything we achieved over the last decade thrown away while the club has reverted to type rather than establishing itself in the top half Premier League.

Faes and Soumare never have

Yep. Whatever happens Faes, Vestergaard, and Soumare will be gone next season. The catastrophic thing however, is letting so many players leave for free over three/four seasons. We should be selling not letting contracts expire, otherwise we’re blowing 10s of millions in transfer fees that we are put recouping, and where is the cash coming from to replace these players?

Any manager given Soumare, Winks (who doesn’t want to be here), Skipp, and Choudhury as his midfield options would struggle.

You can’t just let all your best players leave or be sold, be left with a load of academy players and turds you can’t flush, and expect any manager to get a tune out of them. Our core squad is now made up of players that wouldn’t / couldn’t make the bench 2-3 years ago. We are essentially left with the dross that got put on mega contracts under Rogers, the crap that Cooper signed, and that random right-back we signed in January who has never played. Plus some academy graduates that have never been quite good enough.

Hopefully, seeing as we’re gonna be in it for another 6-7 years
