What motivation is there for Russell Martin to keep his job?

One day this thread will go hot, i'll click on it and there will actually be a tweet or something saying he's been sacked.

Modern managers whinge about too many games purely because they want to coach teams to within an inch of death. Players don't want it and fans don't want to see their team look shattered. Go back to letting individual quality win you games. Was much more fun.

Tony Pulis managed that side IIRC.

Yeah i'm not saying they were any good in those games, just saying that he had far more than the 7 league games he got. Had plenty of games and he was consistently shit.

They played a lot in Europe though. I think he had a good 15/16 games there.

I think the only one is a bobbled cross from the left that he tried to control instead of hitting first time. Been really starved of chances IMO.

That Spurs game came when we had quite an injury hit squad and our season was essentially confirmed as mid-table whilst they needed to win to continue their push to win the league. Don't think it was as bad as the others (despite it being the most we've conceded at home in this century).

Off the top of my head, since the turn of the century we've had the 5-0 against Villa and Bolton, the 6-1 against Spurs, 4-0 against Liverpool and Brentford and now this. I think these are the only 4 goal+ margins we've had at home but i'm probably missing something obvious.

We can't play a 3-4-3 because McFarlane or Thomas are entirely unsuited to playing at wingback. Gone out of our way to sign two big strikers yet we've got nobody who can swing a cross in.

It should be Dave Challinor. Available with a lot of experience in this league. Built Stockport up into a team that will probably go up this season. Would be the new Nigel Pearson IMO.
