We’ll await your match report @hackenbacker

I think it’s as simple as Vestergaard and Faes are in the form of their lives.

Souttar has played just one league game this season and observes that when the team is flying as Leicester currently is, it’s difficult to break into the team. “It’s been a frustrating time,” he says. But discussions on his club future, he says, are for later, as his focus right now is on representing the Socceroos at an AFC Asian Cup. That’s a goal that has driven him to keep putting in the work, day after day, during his long spell on the sidelines in the Midlands. “Knowing that the Asian Cup was always around the corner … it was always kind of just try and get yourself as fit as you can,” Souttar says. “Even though you’re not going to be playing a lot, do extra sessions here and there and keep yourself as top fit as best you can. I’ve worked so hard to get here, so my full concentration is on the next month and a half.” —————————————————— I’m guessing he’s focussing on the Asian Cup and that’s it basically.

We’re still in rebuild mode realistically and we need to move on the likes of Souttar, Soumare, Thomas, Ward, Kristensen etc on a permanent basis. Even if we don’t replace all of them this transfer window, I’d rather have one of two players that actually aid the first team squad. We will be looking at other transfer for the summer, so generating space now for the long term, isn’t a bad thing.

I like Kasey and all but Tottenham have history of buying youth players and then they sort of don’t play or do a lot. This is them trying to emulate the bigger clubs, like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City etc so they can buy cheap and then sell on for FFP reasons. Surely people must realise, we’re only in the EFL for a season? It’s not like we’re going to need to sell people like Kasey on the cheap to stay afloat.

Spot on this. We can all appreciate that we overpaid for Ward. However, we all know that he shouldn’t have been our first choice goalkeeper for a large proportion of last season. Poor management by Rodgers to keep throwing him into the firing line. At some point we just needed to shut up shop and try and make ourselves hard to beat. That involved Iversen who was the better goalkeeper at stripping stuff going into the net. I’d imagine Smithies gets named as the 3rd choice goalkeeper as Ward moves on as well.

He’s a Championshio level Keeper really. He did a decent job for Huddlesfield.

I keep seeing all of these “Championship Team Of The Season So Far”. Everyone of them is dreadful. I saw one earlier than only featured Vestergaard and Dewsbury-Hall. They had Leicester reject Johansson in nets!! Rotherham are bottom end of the bloody league!
-
Wilder has been playing him though in the past couple of games. Maybe they will keep him and we will trigger the one year extension to his contract.
-
Luke clearly is technically quite good and I think he’s better than VK in the system we play. He’s just lacks an engine and physicality, which unfortunately are major limitations in the modern game. Unfortunately we have JJ and Doyle who I’d play before him. Thomas often get caught out of position a lot, so I’m not sure he could step inside to form that 3rd centre back.

Mees Hilgers is another that is worth a look. Bank Meite Myron Boadu Mauritania Kjægaard or ………. Xavi Simmons (I’m assuming he’s out of our reach now though)
-
Claudinho would be a nice addition. Can cover the left side and central midfield.

I saw a comment on the Saints Forum about us potentially breaching FFP 😂 Are they serious? Not doing an Everton is partially why we are in this bloody division!

Has anyone got any rough idea how much it is to buy / fit Oak Veener doors? The wife was quoted £8k earlier to change 32 of them! I told her I’ll buy them and fit them at that price! Jeeez!

Yes, it was under the Puel regime. In fairness he’d done okay at Huddlesfield 12 months prior. That summer, for money we signed Maddison, Evans, Ricardo, Ward, Ghezzel, Benkovic and Soyuncu. We shipped out Musa, Mahrez, Gordon, Ulloa. Overall I’d say that was a successful transfer window. We overpaid for Ward but every transfer is a risk. Transfer fee / wages he’s cost us around 4.2m for the 5 years he’s been here, £21m-ish. Bertrand cost us around £10.4m as it was only a 2 year contract (thankfully).

This Danny Ward: Or this Danny Ward:

Apparently Fulham have put a £20,000,000 offer in for Soyuncu. Roma have also offered to loan him. Not going great in Spain for our ex / current players (other than Perez)

Was this person abnormal? When I had a Nokia 3210 about 15 years ago, it was all the rage to program ringtones. Ever since the invention of the iPhone, I’d assumed everyone kept their phone in silent mode.

It’s that bloody cold, I think it might snow!

The issue I have with Alli is that a few clubs have tried to get him back into match fitness, both physically and mentally. We’ve had broken players in the past like Michael Johnson, Michael Ball, Lee Morris and they’ve been a drain on the club. Then others have flourished under a new environment. I’d be tempted to invite him to Seagrave and see how he fares. It depends if Maresca thinks he could work with him.

https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/countries/ 1. 736 - English 2. 199 - Scottish 3. 33 - Wales 4. 32 - Ireland 5. 15 - Northern Ireland 6. 12 - France 7. 8 - Australia 8= 7 - Denmark 8= 7 - Jamaica 8= 7 - Nigeria 8= 7 - Portugal I think when you look down the list, it’s surprising we’ve only had one Norwegian, Czech and Brazilian. Then only two Italians, Croatians and Argentinians!

I come back to my original point. If you understand the game and have an ounce of charisma, it’ll be be more interesting to listen to than someone waffle on. If you have ever listened to a Mourinho, Ferguson, Wenger etc speak when they’re providing analysis, it’s far more insightful than the likes of Joe Cole, Robbie Savage or Clinton Morrison. Sky Sports is largely to blame for this, as they generated an ethos where we needed an hour pre game, then 30 minutes post game, discussing it. Once you factor in that they are covering maybe ten matches over a weekend, the quality is going to get diluted. This is why we’ve ended up with the grumpy and funny pairing of Keane and Richards. Is it insightful viewing; not really; is it funny; it can be. Every show needs an anchor and that person doesn’t need to know sport that week, but be charismatic and entice questioning etc (Laura Woods, Gary Lineker). This however isn’t about men vs women, or ticking a box, it should be about raising the overall quality of sports insight. All TV companies have potentially got to improve and potentially invest in educating whoever they bring in. The challenge for them is they’re just subcontractors in reality, so why would they bother.
