Why is it so black and white with people on here? We need bodies in the squad, we need options - it's a long, long season. Alves has played about 30 mins of senior football - ever! Is it fair on him to just throw him into top flight football, ahead of one of the club's most challenging seasons in recent years, with no other real options in his position, and go 'here you go mate, crack on'? The most likely scenario seems to be one where Buonanotte comes in, and Alves is used in rotation with him over the course of the season - why does Buonanotte coming in mean Alves' development is halted, or that we suddenly think he'll never be good enough for senior football? It's mad. If anything, Alves should be encouraged that this is a loan and not a permanent signing - it gives him space to develop this season, and if he takes it - there's a role open and waiting for him at the end of the season. Cole Palmer is an absolute phenom - he played almost 20 games for Man City before moving to Chelsea and did nothing - even when he went to Chelsea it took him 4-5 games to get up to speed - and this is likely a player with a much higher ceiling than Alves. Can we afford to gives Will Alves that kind of time, with no other options in that position in the squad?

Again, if he helps us stay up - our SOLE objective this season - then it will be job done and thanks very much.

Right now we are simply trying to stay in this league, on the back of financial mismanagement and an incoming points deduction. If we stay up and he helps us to do that, it's a great deal. 'Developing another club's player' is such a weird way of looking at it - we have an objective this season and we need to meet it, and we need to do it in a way that makes sense financially.

This is SUCH a good signing, people in here need their heads checked.

We're coming off the back of a season in the Champ, bad financial mismanagement, there's a points deduction on the horizon - we just need to survive this season, if we do then we can hopefully start to get back to where we were before. Exactly this, Buonanotte signing doesn't mean the door is shut for Alves this season.

Very keen on this. We can't just throw Alves into the starting line up. Even if he wasn't a young lad with no experience of regular football (let alone top flight football) he's still adjusting to life after a serious injury too - we need to take it slow with him. I would expect Alves to make the step up to the squad this season, but we need reinforcements who are ready to start games.

Okoli has clearly been signed for the first team, and De Cordova Reid is clearly an upgrade on Praet/Albrighton. Out of that list of departures, KDH and maybe Iheanacho are the only first team players. He's not a downgrade on Cannon though is he? Another player raised to mythical standards by the Leicester fanbase when he's not playing. Cannon couldn't get a look in when we were in the Championship - he got 2 goals in 13 games in the Champ. Fofana has at least got 4 goals in 15 in the prem, only 10 of those were starts too. And while we're at it, it took Daka 30 games to get 4 prem goals the last time we were in the league.

Most clubs have made 2-4 signings, same as us. Some less.

4 goals in 10 starts for Burnley is decent? They had to play United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City during that run too. Cannon's got a bit of a talent for sure, but he could barely get a look in while we were in the Championship.

He was a great prospect before he went to Chelsea - plenty of players look shit when they go there - I would be well up for this.

The only problem being that it's all completely unverifiable - mainstream media, for all it's faults, generally only publishes things that are verified fact. There's plenty of information out there on social, how much truth? If you believed social media last week, the Southport attacker was a boat migrant. That's my big issue with it. Musk has made Twitter (not calling it X) ten times worse by removing verification, and letting anyone pay for a blue tick - if you've got enough followers and a tick, you can really cause trouble.

It's times like this that it really shows how much social media has ruined transfer windows. Back in the day you'd get maybe one or two lines in a newspaper, maybe once a week. Even a few years back you might get BBC sport reporting rumours on their website. Now you've got every virgin with a Twitter account lining up to bring you round the clock bullshit in the hopes of building their weird ITK profile. So depressing.

I mean there's wanting to cash in, and then there's accepting around 40% lower than your stated asking price. If they're doing it to fund player purchases, how does it benefit them to accept less than they actually need??

I don't believe half the stuff that's been written about this lad so far, it's gone from 'he's open to the move and he's agreed terms' to 'he only wants Roma' for apparently no reason. If Roma don't stump up, but we do, and he has the choice of playing in the PL for Leicester, or for Juve's reserves, then it'll be interesting to see what he picks. But there's no way Juve are accepting £20-£25m when they're asking for £30-£35m, even if the player is crazy keen on playing for Roma.

Maybe NOT sell him for 40% below what they want? Jeez.

Hang on, we're supposed to think that Juve will sell 10m under their valuation because the player would prefer to go to Roma?
