Sounds preferable to watching us this season!

She’s half way through the Coda!

My personal expectations were quite low. I knew that we were in a financial hole. I also knew we’d lose our best performing player, from last season in KDH, to try and climb out of it. The squad looked pretty thin for the Premier League. All I wanted to see were a few signings that excited me. I was pragmatic enough to realise that they might not be enough to keep us in the Premier League but hopeful that, even if we got relegated, they would help build a solid base for some sort of reset in the Championship. Players like BEK, Abdul, Okoli, Hermansen and Mavididi have all come into the club over the last couple of seasons with various degrees of success. I don’t mind signings like this as, even if they go wrong, it’s an investment in younger players who could genuinely make a difference. They might even find their level after relegation or have significant resale value if they do perform. I’m still pretty frustrated and angry at a transfer strategy that saw us bring Ayew, Edouard, BDCR and Skipp to the club. With those transfers I’m not sure what Top and JR expected. For me it drained any hope I had of a productive season and, as the season has gone on, I can’t think of a time when I’ve felt more disenfranchised in 40 years following the club. There are just too many players now where I have no expectation for them to ever make any meaningful contribution to LCFC - either now or in the future

Marko Futacs Marlon Fulop (RIP) -
Good grief! He must be utter shite then! Sell!

Put me on the list. Given our dire form I’ve not watched it for a while now
-
To be fair the only positions I can’t see him improving are goalkeeper, striker and (arguably) CB.

Anyone excited about tomorrow's game ?

A hugely depressing, but unerringly accurate summary -

At the start of the season going into games felt like the start of a challenging day at work. You knew it was going to be difficult, but potentially quite rewarding. At this point it feels like I’m going to work as a toilet cleaner at the local dysentery hospital and the only tools I’ve been given are a toothbrush and a couple of wet wipes! -
Previously I’ve not joined in the condemnation of Rudkin for similar reasons to those expressed (so eloquently) here by Mr. Cliff Ginetta. He is, however, supposed to be a fans representative . Defending individuals just feels like deflection if you’re doing nothing to address or comment on the concerns raised. To go from the strong position we were in, to the place we now find ourselves, can only be a consequence of systemic failure over time. We have, however, seen no change at Executive Level despite supposedly going through a root and branch review. Ultimately, I don’t think anybody would give a s**t if Rudkin stays in post if it aligns with better communication with fans and a real demonstrable change in fortunes both on and off the pitch. A defence of the individual just feels a bit easy and lazy without expressing an opinion on the issues the fans are trying to raise. Who are these people actually supposed to represent? The fans or the club?

Much as I love Big Nige and what he did for the club I think the “never go back” mantra is a good one here. NP hasn’t been great at his other clubs and I think that we were very lucky to have the holy trinity of Pearson, Walsh and Shakespeare. I feel a return, amid our current demise, would only tarnish his legacy.

Personally, no and I started watching in 1986 Even when we were shite previously there were players I enjoyed watching. I knew they were giving their all, but they just didn’t have much quality. I’m just not interested or invested in the lot we’ve got now. You see the team sheet and just think “meh!” Some people miss the point when Ayew and BDCR are mentioned - quoting this stat and that. They’re not the worst players we’ve ever had by far. But they represent a muddled transfer strategy from a club who’s lost it’s way and is currently going nowhere

What’s with the optimism??
-
I’m still surprised that a summer transfer strategy where we bought Skipp, Ayew, Bobby DC Reid and got Edouard on loan hasn’t led to a more fruitful season. I mean, when you say it out loud, it’s enough to make me want to draw Rudkin’s face on the side of my wife’s Clio (dressed as a f’king clown) and drive it through Leicester right now!
-
Yep! Normally I'm not in favour of playing players out of their best position but, when you consider our wide options are currently Ayew and BDCR, Ricardo sounds a credible option. He also brings some flexibility in that he can contribute in a few positions
-
Yes. That occurred to me. I'd struggled in the past to define what sort of midfielder Soumare was (apart from a not very good one), but "box to box" seems like the closest description and that's what he should be aiming for as his USP

A bit of context. Levy has been around TH since 2000 and Chairman since 2001. They have a turnover that is more than 3 times greater than ours and, during his time in charge, have won 1 trophy: a League Cup. There has been some unity that Levy is to blame for stagnation at Spurs for quite some time. It’s taken years for this to break out into any sort of significant protest. Nice stadium though.

I think it's brave to put an alternative view on this particular thread and I commend you for doing so. This is all about opinions and it's interesting to see alternative views. I think we are all "proper" fans and only want what's best for the club. I like to think of myself as a fairly pragmatic person and I think that King Power have largely been good for LCFC. Indeed they have presided over the most successful period in our entire history. They deserve some leeway and, I believe, they have been given quite a bit. However ..... I think you can appreciate the King Power reign and still question the future and direction of this club. I've said a few times on this thread (and others) that continuous evolution is what sets apart any successful business from its peers. What KP did clearly worked and they received the acclaim and plaudits at that time. Now, however, it clearly is not working! We've had a succession of very poor decisions taken on and off the pitch and engagement with fans hasn't been great. In fact it feels like an all time low since KP took control. I've always been dubious about whether John Rudkin should be the outlet for the frustration of fans or whether their ire should be directed at another recipient. We shouldn't, however, blame the fans for this. The club hierarchy themselves have put JR forward as their "Director of Football" and, in turn, have not communicated the outcomes of their 'root and branch' review that led to our relegation and the 'off the pitch' hierarchy has all been kept in place. No other candidate has emerged as the person responsible. Meanwhile we've made some very confusing managerial appointments, had a demonstrably poor player recruitment strategy and are still sailing very close to the wind in terms of PSR. It doesn't feel like further team manager changes are going to solve our problems in the short or medium term. It very much feels like a wider 'reset' is required. Something the club has failed to communicate to fans. I don't particularly like the targeting of Rudkin either, particularly if this becomes personal but, as stated, the people protesting are picking the figure that the owners and club management have put forward. Neither Top, Susan Whelan or JR himself have come out and said that they are responsible for the footballing decisions and the buck stops with them. All we see is fairly bland statements that do nothing to appease. I don't expect a detailed breakdown of things that should remain confidential, but even some sort of statement upon the future plans and direction for the club would help. The criticism of the recent protests reminds me of the criticism people get for singing certain songs (eg the lyrics are rubbish, it's embarrassing, don't like the tune, makes us look silly etc.). My response to that debate is always that you'll never get songs that appeal to everyone and any noise will only help to generate the atmosphere that you're trying to create. In that instance, as in this one, (as long as it's within the bounds of decency) I'm just grateful that some people are trying to make a difference

We need a 2014/15 type miracle but, in retrospect, we didn’t realise what we had in that team until the following season. I can’t see Faes/Okoli becoming the next Morgan/Huth. Jordan Ayew is a few steps further back in ability than Riyad Mahrez. Vardy was ten years younger. Soumare is unlikely about to turn into Esteban Cambiasso… etc..etc… etc…
-
I think we’ve been pretty consistent all season. How many did we lose in a row?
-
Yep - we’re down. To be honest when I look at the starting eleven and the subs bench, I just can’t enthuse myself with any optimism anymore. Oddly Wolves haven’t managed to pull away from the bottom 3 yet, but it’s surely only a matter of time before they do.
