  1. He’s 19 and already this good. Going to be a star. It’s obvious. As is El Khanouss who (might) just keep us up, he’s that good.
  2. Touch of the Muzzy Izzet’s about him
  3. Lot more hope after watching that. The defensive frailties remain, but we played some excellent stuff and on another day, that’s at least a point if not a win. Have to keep it up.
  4. What a beautiful footballer.
  5. Soumare at times in the first half looked really good but watch him for the Jones goal. Bloke couldn’t care less. That isn’t a lack of ability, it’s mentality. And it’s throughout this squad.
  6. The possession we allowed their back 4 was nothing short of a disgrace when 3-1 down. No press, no nothing. Let’s keep it to 3-1 lads eh. Similar to when Cunha held onto the ball for an eternity in the centre circle last week. IT IS A LACK OF EFFORT!! I did not expect us to win, but I expected more fight. Liverpool never got out of second gear. Neither did Chelsea, neither did Wolves, neither did Newcastle. So sick of watching this bunch of players. Over and out.
  7. When do we ever play like that anymore? We don’t
  8. Didn’t expect a win. Just more effort, more clue when we had the ball, more pressing when losing and they’re passing it around the back like it’s a practice game. To have a shot in the last 85 mins of the game? To have more than 1 corner? For Soumare to actually bust a gut when it’s 1-1 to chase Jones in the box, rather than let him stroll past him with ease? The squad lack ability, and that isn’t their fault. But to lack effort is unacceptable. Tossed the game off before it began and sounds like you did, too.
  9. The performance was largely shit though. That’s the problem. No shots since the 10th minute of the match. We were only better because we didn’t have Danny Ward in goal.
  10. I don’t remember a time where there has been such a collective writing off of a football match from supporters and players. I have read so many posts from supporters along the lines of ‘pleased it was only 3-1’ ‘better than expected’ ‘season won’t be defined by how we do at Anfield’ How have we become like this? We were in the bloody lead until the 45th min. Every chance of scrapping out a result if the supporters and players even half believed (or cared). Everton just got a point at Arsenal away from home. Is the gulf between those two sides much bigger than it is between us and Liverpool? I wouldn’t say so. There are no such things as a free hit in professional sport. Particularly when you lose a 6 pointer 0-3 at home the week before. The club really is at rock bottom. Soumare walking in the box, watching Jones run past him to score. Winks being easily brushed off the ball time after time in the second half. Daka being Daka, the bloke is atrocious. Yet another goal down our right, Justin seemingly incapable of just showing a player down his weaker side rather than selling himself (again). Allowing their back 4 to play keep ball more than ten minutes from full time, just watching and admiring them. We have no clue what to do with the ball when we have it. We can’t defend. Too many of them don’t care or believe enough and some of our supporters seem the same.
  11. You’re really putting Soumare in after a few decent performances in 4 years? He was a disgrace second half yesterday. Packed in.
  12. The back 4
  13. Only ones with an ounce of credit are: Vardy who actually had a few decent efforts on goal El Khanouss who has such skilful feet and always looks to go forward Kristiansen who didn’t give up Rest of them 🚮 Buonanotte and El Khanouss are far too similar to play in the same 11 in my view. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why Buonanotte isn’t starting games.
  14. I wanted to go at half time but designated driver, Dad, said no. He said ‘if Luke comes on, then we will leave. That will be the final straw’ No Luke meant we stayed too long, but Cunha standing still with the ball for what seemed like an eternity in the centre circle without a City player attempting to get it off him was the final straw. We left after that. Freezing and utterly deflated.
  15. He absolutely was.
  16. Kingpin of the team yesterday! I thought he was probably our best player.
  17. Is this definitely last night?!
  18. Mads 7 Some good saves as usual. Chelsea number 1 next season Justin 6 Didn’t do a lot wrong and up against a strong left with Cucarella and Felix Faes 4 I was speechless for the goal he caused us to concede. When he’s concentrating and on it, he’s fine but when he has a game like yesterday (thinking he’s better than he is) he’s a liability Okoli 5 Fine up until the second goal where he lets the ball orbit his head for some reason. Pathetic defending Kristiansen 7 Struggled early on but grew into the game and dealt with a very tricky winger very well. Pick of the back 4 Ndidi 5 Deserved a red and didn’t contribute anything of note Soumare 7 Probably best game he’s had for us. He even sprinted at one point! Skipp 5 Disappointing performance. Sure there’s a player in there, but yesterday I failed to see what he really offers El Khanouss 7.5 Nice feet, can pick a pass as well. If he had better players around him and was given more license by the Manager to play on the front foot, he’d get better and better. Would play him next week for sure McAteer 4 He’s not a Premier League player. Bizarre choice to play ahead of Mavidivi, Ayew or even BDC. So out of his depth poor lad Vardy 4 No threat. He needs help ffs. Daka not the answer either. Feeling very depressed about our options at centre forward. We just have no physical presence whatsoever up there. Vardy just ends up totally isolated and their centre halves won’t have an easier game all season than that.
  19. Because he doesn’t make runs into the channels like every other striker in the league does for a start. It’s not his fault, he’s 37. But to start with him at this level every single game in 2024 is testament to how bad our recruitment has been for years in that department.
  20. Okoli Soumare McAteer all start 😂
  21. And I simply don’t get why any football fan can describe a professional sports match as a ‘free hit’ . Honestly.
  22. They will coast into a comfortable lead and then see the game out. Probably bring off their stars 30 mins from the end to give others a run out. We won’t lay a glove on them.
  23. So gutted for him first and foremost. It’s the type of injury that players never seem to quite be the same afterwards. Hopefully youth on his side, he can come back as good as he was before it. It all but confirms relegation for me- he’s our most attacking threat (even though it took Cooper a while to realise it) and we will miss him hugely.
