  1. Rodgers. Oh, I thought you said is, not has...
  2. Exactly. As bad as they've been and despite us doing reasonably well in that first half, you cant help but go into the second half fearing yet more dropped point(s). Forest the only game so far where we've lived up to the performance for the full 90 (ish). And even then we gifted them some huge chances and it couldve gone very differently.
  3. Amartey off, Perez on. At centre back. Then change his mind and bring Amartey back on again, in place of Maddison at CAM. Perez to remain at CB.
  4. We've obviously not been great, but even in that half there were enough glimpses of quality - and not just from Maddison - that with a shift in tactics and one or two personnel changes, I think we've still got the makings of a good, top-half side at this level. Unfortunately, Rodgers is standing in the way of that, so instead I'm dreading how we're going to unravel in the second half. Again. Palace have been crap as well, mind.
  5. Amartey already causing us problems. Didnt see that coming...
  6. Not yet. Moved into a new flat in July and so far it seems fairly well protected from the extremes - out of the sun when it was roasting, and seems to be doing alright with the cold too. Avoiding the heating for as long as possible with the way things are going, but I have bought a heated blanket to try and avoid turning the (electric) radiators on for a little longer at least.
  7. 11. We must win against Forest or he has to go. So there's 3 at least. We should be winning both of the other home games if we're to have a somewhat decent season, so another 6 there. Especially if he wants to win back support from the fans. The away games are less pivotal to him staying, but a draw in each seems fair as a target. That'll put us roughly 11th/12th in the league judging by the season so far. Still poor for where we want to be as a club, but at least it'd show he's got us moving in the right direction again. That buys him time, but that's it. It won't absolve him of criticism and it won't make me pro-Rodgers (that would need more than just a change in results) but it would definitely help his case.
  8. I've always pronounced it 'tong'. My other half is a geordie and he's always pronounced it 'tung' and rinsed me for saying it incorrectly (they're hardly ones to talk about speaking proper...). Definitely a Leicester(shire) thing
  9. We've got 6 games in October, the last of which is against Man City so that's a bit of a free hit. He'd still need to get at least 11 points from the remaining 15 available against other mid/low-table fodder to convince me that he's turned it around and would be worth keeping on after the WC. 3 home wins on the trot and 2 points from Bournemouth/Wolves away. That's absolutely achievable if he can get us back on form, and would have us looking a bit more comfortable in mid-table, around 11th/12th. And if he does manage to turn it around, hopefully he'll have been humbled by the toxicity that's built up and we'll see a different side of Rodgers going forward. I'll wait to be convinced, though. A home win against Forest is absolutely essential though. Anything other and he needs to be sacked at the final whistle, frankly. Even with all that said, though, I still think we'd be better parting ways now and getting someone new in to have a bit of time with the players before that same run of games, before we get cut adrift.
  10. Sums it up nicely for me. We have a squad which is more than capable of upper-mid table, we're just not putting the pieces together on matchdays at the moment. That's a mixture of tactical failings (down to the manager), lack of consistency (again, manager), psychological failings (players, although the manager's comments and man-management havent helped) and lack of concentration/motivation leading to mistakes (players). A touch of bad recruitment perhaps, but certainly not the pivotal factor. There are others in the squad as well who have genuine quality as well. Barnes is ridiculously good when on form, but needs a better guiding hand to keep him on the right track. Perez has shown glimpses of a real player when utilised in the right way. Albrighton has plenty of experience and can still produce when used in the right situations. Praet is very capable of being a mid-table squad player at least, and even Amartey has his uses, although CB in a struggling side is not one of them. If we make the much-needed change at the helm then I've got no doubt that we'll have enough to stay up, and perhaps even challenge for top half if we get a decent run of form. But the longer we persist with BR, the more precarious our position will be...
  11. We needed 6 new players because of his woeful mismanagement of the squad and resources he had to hand. He may have been right with what he said, but that doesn't absolve him of any blame for the position we've found ourselves in now.
  12. Liverpool had a problem with leaks. Rumoured to be Ward, then it stopped as soon as he was sold to us. Which is about the time it started here...
  13. Huth. Maybe not for his on-the-pitch contributions (although prime Huth would be amazing) but I've a feeling he'd be the best person to light a fire under any players not giving their all and we'd perform better purely from a motivation point of view. Heck, bring him into the coaching fold for exactly that reason. Can't do any harm. See also: Wasilewski. We need a proper hard-case in the squad. On the complete flip side, Mahrez would solve a lot of problems for us going forwards and actually having a somewhat reliable and consistent frontline (Barnes - Maddison - Mahrez behind 1 or 2 strikers) would simplify a lot of our overall game. The lack of an out-and-out right winger just means a lot of our lineups end up confused
  14. 19th September, 10am.
  15. No. He'd have to get us back to winning ways and playing entertaining football, AND retract a lot of his recent comments AND rebuild the bridges he's burned with certain players/board/fans etc. But to a large extent the damage has already been done, particularly in terms of players running down contracts/not wanting to be here. I think I'll always be wary of him and his motives (such as his tendency for self-preservation above all else), and that's not the kind of outlook I'll ever enjoy having. I'd much rather be able to relax and feel positive about our manager, but Rodgers' has lost that, for me.
  16. Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler The rest are Rodgers' team he brought with him, so would be gone as well presumably.
  17. I'd happily take Dyche if he was up for a short-term contract until the summer and then reassess. He did good things with Burnley despite limited resources, and probably would've kept them up last season. He's not the type to take us back into top-6 territory regularly, I don't think, but he'd certainly get the club all pulling in the same direction again which is what we so desperately need. You know exactly what you're getting from him, so whilst it would perhaps be a step down in quality it would be a step up in consistency, which I think is where we need to position ourselves to stop the rot from setting in further. He'd keep things simple as well, so if we did want to go back to a more 'flair' type appointment we'd have a better foundation for it rather than a manager coming in right now and trying to impose a new and unfamiliar way of playing on a team which is already looking confused and bewildered. Like I say, I don't think he'd be the right manager to take us back to the promised-land of top-6 finishes and the CL but I'd feel a lot more comfortable about the stability of the club, which I think is what we need after the last 18+ months of Rodgers' tenure.
  18. I'd waive the compensation (or at least make it a nominal amount £1-2m) if it guaranteed they'd come in and take him off our hands. Last thing we want is for them to be keen, see the compensation price tag and start having second thoughts...
  19. If sacking him means paying off his contract, we could easily just... not do that. Keep him on the books rather than give it in a lump sum, and put him on gardening leave so he's unable to take a job elsewhere. He'll lose out on cash (a reduced lump sum from us, but added to continued wages from wherever he ends up) and his stock will fall as a manager after being on the sidelines for a few more years. Or he could agree to a lower payout now and take his media spin elsewhere to earn another paycheck from another unsuspecting club. And save face in the meantime; I imagine being effectively exiled from management for a few years would be unbearable for someone with his ego.
  20. Well today is going to be a recovery day so if there's any training it'll be light. If it's true that they're in discussions about how to terminate his contract then it wouldn't surprise me if he has already been removed from training duties in the interim and Stowell & the other non-BR coaches to take temporary charge of those sessions.
  21. Tbh, Leicester just need to be more like, well, Leicester. Our identity has completely disappeared of late and none of our players have any desire to impose themselves on the game (or the ability to in the system they've been shoehorned into). I don't want us looking at Man Utd and mimicking them - I want us looking back at what has worked for us over the past couple of seasons in our better spells and go back to that.
  22. On the whole I'd say it's a fail. 1st season was a success to get us to 5th. It could've been 4th, but still an achievement nonetheless. 2nd season was a mixed bag. Another 5th place finish this time felt like a missed opportunity and more of a fail, but we had an OK run in Europe that ended dismally, and of course the FA Cup success. 3rd season was an undoubted failure. Injuries affected things, but still no excuse for some of our performances, particularly in Europe. 8th place and missing out entirely is proving disastrous to our finances already, despite having the opportunity to at least get 7th at the tail end of the season. We had our first European semi final, but it was in a competition that we never should have ended up in - it's criminal that we didn't qualify for the Europa League knockouts. 4th season so far needs no further comment. Unmitigated failure. Some good periods in amongst all that, and the FA Cup was obviously a highlight, but the trajectory over his time here is increasingly worrying and he's taken us from an amazing position to capitalise on our success, to a broken mess of a club which is only going to get worse as contracts expire next summer. The longer he stays here, the bigger a failure he's been. It's only going in one direction, sadly.
  23. Nah, keep quiet. If the Villa board hear all the negativity they might change their minds about paying his release clause when they want to replace Gerrard...
  24. Get in!
  25. Hmmm...
