That leaves us with 0 strikers and still 3 centre backs. So whilst it's subjective, it's closer to being objective if we say that we need a striker more than a centre back. If we start the transfer window shut today, we'd be shorter then up front than at the back. Okoli or Souttar get injured, and we'd still be able to bring Faes in, whereas Bristic gets injured and we have nobody. Ultimately, you're right that it's irrelevant what we think is a priority but if Martin is saying a striker isn't, and at the same time is claiming Cullen is a striker whilst deploying him in centre mid whilst playing somebody who isn't a striker up there, I think it's fair to say that the club have absolutely no idea what their priorities are. Doesn't sound like them does it ? Anyway, I think we both agree that we absolutely do need to actively be looking for some players to come in at centre back and up top, above all others positions.

How is it irrelevant. Which stance is factual; what we have now or what we might have? Is the former, so it is currently absolutely more relevant than what might be. We definitely need to be planning for their departures and have players ready to bring in, but since we're operating on the premise of players leaving before they come in, a striker, in this current moment, is what is needed. And if you want to hone in on the fact certain players are a punt and use that as a basis to discount them, we still currently have 3 natural centre backs on the books who have made senior appearances at a higher level. We have 0 strikers who have done that, and since we're discounting Gray and Aluko, we also have no other options up front.

And yet he's been playing him in midfield? Sackable offence since he's clearly lost his marbles. We currently have 4 centre backs (counting Gray) and then Aluko has looked decent there. We've basically got 1 striker and then a bunch of 10's, so we absolutely need a striker above everything else. Not saying we don't need centre backs but as it currently stands, then need is greater up top. CB also a big priority and obviously if we do lose a couple of them, it will overtake the need for a striker

It's a chicken and egg scenario but I think the stadium starts getting your ROI. But it wasn't just an extra 8k seats, which was my point; it's all the extra stuff that we had proposed that brings in extra money and prestige. Especially frustrating when you see the likes of Forest and Birmingham either planning similar or building new stadiums. We should have been able to take them out of the equation, but that's all down to our on the field performance.

This would be true but for how we've been run. As I think you mentioned below, it's become a cop out for the players and has fed this entitled/pampered culture that is rife in the club. Unfortunately, it's a bit of chain around our neck currently but it was obviously as a positive move longer-term. My biggest gripe was that the stadium should have also come first as that was a way to massively overhaul the commercial side of the club which guaranteed increase in revenue (gigs/events, the hotel etc), where even if we were crap, we'd still be bringing in far more money than now. Seagrave won't do anything in that regard if we don't have a PL reputation/finances because players will just be picked off by big clubs with more regularity, and if even if we have them under contract, they'll be going for a fraction of what they'd be worth higher up the pyramid. I do think that the stadium redevelopment pushes the needle in terms of reputation which has a knock on effect to everything. Take your point about players being more bothered about the training facilities, but you need to reputation in the first place to attract them, when Seagrave becomes a deal clincher.

And that's not a dig at you, that's just the general state of the forum now and a mindset we're all guilty of at the moment. And it does all stem from those people who've buried their heads in the sand about KP, as it's just caused the negativity the other way to go to the extreme (in the cases when it shouldn't, as well aware that the most negative viewpoint has often been an assessment of the reality). Unfortunately some people are now blinded by their hatred, that even if one of crap players does stuff well, they still say that it was awful. To be fair, it just parallels modern society where you're not allowed a nuanced opinion, especially on the internet.

The need for a CB compared to a striker isn't close. And the problem is, I suspect they are needing to let players go in that position before they are able to bring anyone in. We've still got 3 fit senior centre backs, with a young lad who's been in plenty of matchday squads and also people like Aluko who can play there. Compare that to up top. We literally have 1 guy who can play as a lone striker and that's it, which doesn't factor in that he's a complete gamble. BDR, Chaplin, Cullen etc. could play there if up top with somebody else but they are so ill suited to being the focal point. Don't get me wrong, I want to see some centre backs in who can actually do what's being asked of them, but the priority has to a striker

Split personality? In all seriousness, I agree it wasn't quite as bad as some make out. First half was pretty good as we actually moved the ball fairly quickly and pressed well out of possession. We had 80 successful passes in the final third so clearly not just passing it around the back. Just desperately need a focal point up there. Second half was crap though. Still the same weakness in mentality that we always see. But overall it feels like if we start stringing things together, we'll dominate teams but we're also going to gift chances and momentum to the opposition without fail. We'll see exactly how much Martin has actually learned. But I do think it's completely fair if people are going to have no leeway with performances this year, so don't blame them for being furious with yesterday.
