The criticism stems from what we have historically done. It's definitely improving but unfortunately, Monga and Page are potentially going to be exceptions. And not because we won't be producing great players but moreso because we're still getting inflated prices because of the fact we were an established prem team (obviously would get a lot more if we were in the prem). Monga maybe different but even though I'm a huge Page fan, it's pretty unlikely we'd be able to get £10m+ based on how much he's played if we're just a run of the mill championship club. To be fair, we're also having a bit of a 'golden generation' so the test will be whether this continues. Not being one of the best clubs in the country is also going to massively reduce the likelihood of who comes to us. And ultimately it's frustrating that we don't get 2/3 years from these lads which of course increases their market value, but it also helps create a connection with our team again

Agree with the general sentiment here but this an extreme view: 1) These clowns have absolutely no commercial acumen or awareness of the economics, otherwise we'd have never be in this mess as they'd have massively improved revenue streams, had significantly lower costs and already pushed hard to sell the club when it's value was much higher. 2) I agree that the impact of this is limited and the logic you provide is very true. However, it will have absolutely offended them despite how onwards looking they are and you can guarantee it has played at least a small role in accelerating their timelines in terms of a sale.

Big fan but £10m+ at his age, injury record and us being in L1 would be incredible business. Unfortunately just means we'll spaff £4m on some plodder who can't cut it in the championship

Half of those have played less than 5 games. It's definitely got better in recent years but if you actually look at how late we generally tend to give players a chance, and how many players we give 5+ games to, and compared that with other clubs, it's pretty bad. No idea why you've made that random point about Yamal or Bellingham? Wait so initially Seagrave allowed us to get great players but now it doesn't really matter? So which is it? I think you're basically agreeing with what I'm saying you're just doing it in a roundabout way. The whole point was that in order for get the best ROI on what we spent, we will absolutely need to be way higher up the food chain because that will allow us to demand more money for players and get access to better talent. I'm not disputing whether Joseph is a good get for us; I really like him. The point is, we spent £100m on Seagrave and the running costs are going to be well in the £millions a year. He's had a decent year in League 2 so his value isn't going to be several £million, nor are we definitely able to say that he's better than anything we could have got for that price (the other element where we get some ROI). We're clearly having some of a golden generation and maybe that's down to Seagrave, but it's much more likely it's down to us having a lot of success and a bigger reputation. But if you're higher up the food chain, you aren't going to be losing anywhere near as many players before they turn pro, especially if you can give them the game time either.

I guess the issue is that Otchere absolutely earned his chance with 3 goals and 1 assist in pre season. Could have used that positive momentum to get a good start here (especially since we started the season without a single striker). Even if he's brilliant, the chances of him getting 20 goals for Cheltenham are close to 0. He could come back a better player but actually be further away from getting a chance here, which ruins his development. So much of making it in football (and life!) is down to timing and luck. If we end up with at least another striker, ideally another versatile forward then it was definitely the right decision. It's just the fact that people are expecting these lads for destroy the league and if they don't, they're clearly not good enough, but it's definitely not that simple. Playing here with better players could see their output improve, even in a higher division; rising tides and all that. The main thing is that they both play a lot. I wouldn't be jumping to any conclusions that they're not good enough of they don't produce amazing numbers.

And by the same token, it's going to be a largely insignificant factor in a young player coming here. It'll be because they are more likely to get first team opportunities/loans (which we've been notoriously crap at). Why would they come to League 1 Leicester when they can go to Man City? You think our training ground is that much better than theirs? I like JJ but it's hardly like he's some amazing steal. If Man City wanted him, he'd still be there

Even with Aah Bisto in, we're still in desperate need of at least 1 other striker, maybe 2. Hopefully we start getting linked to more

When you think about it, the only way Seagrave can start paying itself back is if we actually get back to at least a top-flight yo-yo club. That's why we still got good money for Monga and potentially Page. Otherwise every player will leave before they turn 17 and if they don't, you'll be lucky to get more than a few million, which won't cover the running costs.

Bristric aside, are any of those actually proper forwards though? The fact that we had to end the game with a central midfielder (as in, not a 10/attacking mid) playing as a false 9, shows that we basically have no proper forwards (and I don't just meant strikers). Bet yes, if they aren't involved now, please get them out on loan

Stockport have spent 'big' but I think it shows how out of touch we are with anything below the championship. Absolutely no way we're getting anything close to a combined £2m for them. Would be absolutely staggered if we're getting £1m. Cartwright going to be the biggest and that's probably £250k-£500k (absolute max). Richards lucky to get 6 figures for and imagine Wilson-Brown would be £250k tops. Teams mainly rely on free transfers and loans. Signing a player for money is a bit of a luxury

I'd say it's a fairly weak source (won't say for obvious reasons so I also wouldn't expect anyone to take it seriously). Said in another thread that he's basically open to a move but not been trying to force it through. Kind of makes sense. If Braybrooke gets good game time, would expect him to re-sign. Think he was a bit frustrated he wasn't given a few more opportunities but this is his club and that's a heavy pull
