  1. Haha, love how triggered people are by this. Maybe it's true that he'll have a little sulk but he'll get over it pretty quickly and be back in the team, putting lots of effort in because that's the only way he plays (and further increases his chances of a move). Pretty sure if he refused to play for the whole season or there was evidence of him really not trying, the club could probably sue him
  2. Don't think you'd have got that with him as he's noted for his professionalism and with all the injuries, I think there is some element of him owing us. Training alone weeks before pre season started under Enzo. And also, he only has a year left so he if had a decent season, he then gets better options that Leeds on a free. Anyway, it's still a good deal all round I think.
  3. Most of those lads will be a lot less whilst we're in the championship (still very unhealthy wages) as they likely have relegation clauses and subsequently, promotion clauses too.
  4. From a business position it makes complete sense and is actually a good deal. But he was one of the very few who actually gave a crap, and whilst no longer the player he was, still one of the better players in this squad. Had a really, really poor spell last year but it's grossly exaggerated by some. Whether he played or not, that right hand side was completely overrun under multiple managers. Same for him supposedly always turning backwards, it was the same whoever played there because it was clearly instructions from the manager. Anyway, wish him the best but hopefully we can shift VK and then get Aluko involved at full back
  5. What made you decide to choose such punishment?
  6. In terms of young defenders, Sam Gale at Gillingham looks like he could have the lot. Mainly been playing in a back 3 but seen him play either side of that and looks super accomplished. Really aggressive, quick (though hard to tell how that would translate up the leagues) and decent on the ball.
  7. He retired years ago mate and he never played for Palace.
  8. Plus Marti is starting off with a worse team, one lacking in balance, has sold several players who would have been in the squad (and likely more), potential points deduction on the way and the general crap atmosphere around the club.
  9. Yeah but that guy wasn't very good according to some on here. Oh, and I think people forget the amount of goals that came from his long passes either directly as an assist or starting a counter attack.
  10. What the hell are you expecting. And have you actually watched us play in the past year. Not in a month of Sundays would this group of players been able to come away from this kind of game under the previous manager. Not been pretty and things will definitely have to improve, but it's a pretty decent return.
  11. He's got players who are too thick to carry out the manager's instructions as showed when he pulled Vesty and Okoli over, telling them to touch a touch and play it forward quickly. Didn't see that happen all game. Plenty of selections not to like but most of those are because he has no choice, and whilst the options remain as they are, what do people expect. 6 out of 9 given the whole situation, is pretty good really.
  12. Ultimate Jekyll and Hyde performance that. The focus was rightly on the midfield but Hamza was absolutely shocking in that first half; giving the ball away, putting teammates under pressure, constantly turning back etc. Second half bar one brain fade near the start, he was excellent so credit where it's due. He'll give you some fight at least but it's not going to be a great sign if we have to rely on him as a starter this year
  13. 100%. And 2 massive pluses: - Whilst he's not perfect at it, for a modern keeper he's bloody good at dealing with corners and crosses. Won't have many more threatening teams to deal with in that regard and for the most part, he made some excellent claims and punches with next to no protection. - Other thing is that it shows a brilliant mentality to bounce back from the mistake last week with the pressure of being no 1, the general malaise around the club.
  14. Feels ridiculous to say this, one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but whilst that was generally a shocking performance the one thing it actually showed was a bit of grit. Something I can't remember happening for years and certainly something you wouldn't associate with this group of players. Not suggesting that they've turned a corner but there was at least one tiny crumb of a positive.
  15. Probably and yet the previous comment still holds some value!
  16. Vestergaard is so poor in the air
  17. Stupid rule. Should be given as a goal kick (same principle as foul throws)
  18. Mental that he wasn't booked before then. Should be off
  19. Must have been my scathing review of his first half
  20. The midfield is the real problem area but Hamza's individual performance has probably been the worst of the lot. Given it away several times and when he has made a pass, he's either blasted it at people a few yards away, otherwise he's constantly taking too long to pass forward then just turning back (if that was Justin he'd be crucified for it)
  21. Too many things wrong here to change it all. But Alves as he at least has the personality to want to change the game. Ricardo on. Daka to at least offer the option of going in behind. Take your pick who comes off as there's a good case for 6/7 of them.
  22. What's the point in having good hold up play if you then just invite the pressure back on by not releasing it.
  23. What an earth was that throw in? Choudhury played a crap ball back to Thomas (not onto his left) and then another crap ball into the box. He's been absolutely cack in a group do cack players.
  24. Brilliant save. His ability on the corners has been fantastic so far as well as he will get a foul if he doesn't get it. Makes a big difference.
  25. Even if you believe he is one of our best players, he's proven nowhere near good enough for the PL so might as well sell whisky we can. Got a stinking attitude to boot. Makes much more sense to give Nelson and Okoli time together or take a punt on another CB who may have the potential to be better.
