  1. Yep. That would have given us real momentum and made a sub 400 lead very possible. This is the problem with him. Brook/Root etc drops that and you're annoyed but don't blame them for losing the game. But when you average 30 in 50 test matches, every mistake is heightened. Was about as easy as them come because when it's at your midriff, it's so easy to use that to help you catch it by being a backstop
  2. Not the first time he's given it away sloppily
  3. For some perhaps. It wasn't a one off sadly and agreeing with your logic; you've got to be a really good player, something Hamza is not.
  4. Or, as he has said, he's focusing on the fitness and application of the players as it would be pointless to spend loads of time on style of play only for a new manager to come in a rip that up. Common sense from an employee of LCFC. Shocking I know.
  5. Pretty sure he's got most, if not all of his badges. Was coaching at Bristol City for at least a season as well.
  6. To be fair, Ramsdale was Arsenal's number 1 and Saints had spent a decade in the top flight. Sunderland not long ago in absolute turmoil so it's just crazy money
  7. In practical terms it is effectively your latter scenario, it's just that contractually, it will be a clause to break the contract, and that right is exercised by the player/staff member not the club. Otherwise it's just a straight negotiation between clubs to agree a deal (which is being avoided here)
  8. Leicester City; the club that will turn down good offers for their deadwood and couldn't get a deal across the line if it was life or death. But apparently we're shipping out 15 first team players
  9. The only tiny, tiny crumb of comfort for the family is that he was at a club that, no matter what you think of him, will probably support and look after them better than any other
  10. The caption as well; 'Yes, forever'
  11. Huh? I didn't ask why would we wait 2 weeks because that's exactly what we would do. I was pointing out that losing 2 weeks of pre season with a new manager for the sake of £1/2m when the cost benefit is significantly higher than that, would be so typical of this club.
  12. That's generally how buying out works anyway. It's at the employee's discretion to pay the few to buy themselves out of the contract, but obviously the buying club will either front that fee to the person they're hiring on pay on behalf of. Technically it's never the club buying anyone out of their contract. So in Röhl's case, he'll expect a signing on fee that covers his cost for breaking the contract and then the actual up front bonus. Point is, waiting a couple of days to save £1-2m makes sense. Waiting 2 weeks at this stage of the season (would be different in the middle of the season), would be completely stupid.
  13. Awful. Actually a player that seemed like a decent guy from what I have seen of him to As others say, just married, young kids left behind and his brother dying as well
  14. That's true but then it would be this 14/15 day rule (if he has not been paid), in which case it certainly wouldn't be the end of next week, so that tweet is still bollocks
  15. Also, I should have added that the longer we wait, the less likely we are to see younger players feature. The manager will have less time to see how hard they have worked/how ready they are etc. If he's got a couple of weeks less, it will be much easier to bail out and go for an experienced player in the team as it's a 'safer' option.
  16. As I said, I'm pretty relaxed about it (realise that puts me in the minority! Waiting a day or 2 yes. Losing 2 weeks as that tweet suggests, absolutely not. I take your point that it's just the fitness work currently, but it's also eating into time when the manager can assess what the players are like in terms of character and attitude, how he envisages them fitting in to his tactics etc. Whatever excuses are put out there, the club have had 3 months to think about it and get something in place. Point is, the manager is the one thing you don't piss around with. I absolutely would happily lose a couple of £m from the recruitment budget if it had meant Röhl or whoever being in place from the start, vs saving that to waste a couple of weeks. This is the time he can have the most impact. And that impact is potentially worth a lot more than a few £m.
  17. Yes, it is indeed bollocks. The whole thing is that Rohl has been negotiating a reduced fee to leave, which his new club would then pay. If he just left, the hiring club would still have pay compensation to Wednesday, as otherwise managers would just do that all the time. Have been pretty nonplussed about the whole situation given the overall state of the club, but then it dawned on me that we are now 3 days into pre-season with no new manager. If the club are holding out to save a few quid it blows my mind. Happy to piss away millions and not negotiate on incoming wages when they should be, but when there is a critical need for something, they dig their heels in.
  18. Yep, after a total horror show, results were great in the other games. 2 wins is basically a slam dunk for promotion. I'd imagine even 1 win and a draw with an ok smattering of bonus points would do the job. Even 3/4 draws with strong bonus points (and assuming some of the draws are because of bad weather and therefore effect everybody), and they're basically there. Hopefully a bit of a reset after this match.
  19. On the right? Jeez, he got old fast
  20. Said it in the many faces thread, but the intensity is way better than it has been based on that clip
  21. Intensity of the pre season drills already looks miles better than before. Hope he stays for a long time and is given the chance to hone his craft.
  22. Jesus. Crazy money to pay for a keeper as a newly promoted club.
  23. Worryingly that looks better as a football shirt than half of the crap we've had
  24. The promoted clubs already making some really decent signings. They're all risks but exactly the right type of risk. Hartman could be a massive coup, Bornauw is the perfect gamble for that price and most jealous of Sunderland splashing the cash on Habib Diarra. He's one of those midfielders who's got the capability to do everything.
  25. Hard to be too critical given how dominant they've been, been having watched some of the highlights/little bit live, the majority of the dismissals have been absolutely pathetic. Handscomb's in particular was shocking when you see the balls that proceeded it and the fact he has taken the most ridiculous guard I've even seen.
