  1. That change is what should have happened from the start
  2. Yet another awful goal to concede. We gave the ball up so easily and then give him all the time in the world.
  3. That sounds better than nornal
  4. To be fair, he then absolutely busted a gut a few mins after I posted this. It's like he's got some faulty software that randomly kicks in every now and again
  5. Would love to compare the running stats of Justin with Soumare.
  6. Yep, because we're saw so many of them given a chance last year. Wanya was in because we had no other options then he was done, Nelson did really well in the handful of games he played but barley featured. No Alves or Braybrooke even when fit. McAteer the only guy to feature properly and he was 22 so not super young. Had a much better team than everyone else so slotting in more youngsters should have been possible. I absolutely do not expect to see a Leicester squad with 4-5 18 years as key members of it, but the amount of chances we give to young players is abysmal. How many cup games do we sit through, frustrated that we've only got 1 or 2 academy players on the bench with none in the starting lineup, and then we're lucky if one of those lads gets 5 mins. That's absolutely no pathway. On top of that, we have so many players that just rot in youth team football with no first team loan until they're about 21, so you've massively destroyed their development. The depressing thing is that, baser on evidence, Monga would absolutely have a better chance of breaking through at Man City than here. That's crazy on every level. I don't think it's about us ensuring that we're making a new youngster a key player every season, but we have to be less conservative in our approach. That means giving lads 5-10 cameo appearances to see if they can make it and then being really proactive in getting loans. So many talented players who will never play professionally and that's because of their mentality (which isn't tested until they get a chance) and mainly down to timing/luck.
  7. What's with this weird victim complex around Vardy recently? And why can't people separate what somebody has done from what they are doing currently. Not seen a single person properly giving Vardy pelters because his legacy is secured and he's untouchable in that regard. But equally, his recent performances have been so poor and our goal scoring record has been abysmal as team, and he's a big part of that. Of course he's going to struggle to have any success in this team but got to say that the West Ham game was the first time I've seen a genuine lack of effort from him. He creates an awful lot of problems because he's not trying to spin in behind but he also does next to no pressing now, spending his time pointing at other people. He won't be the reason we're relegated but he is absolutely part of the problem. Ignoring that is just silly.
  8. That midfield would get ripped to shreds. The issue we have with 5atb is that we have to play a very negative 2/ a pair that cannot progress the ball. Playing Wilf on his own is absolutely mental though.
  9. Probably pretty good chance of that. Even if that doesn't happen, it seems pretty likely that Monga will have played far more senior football than Evans will have by the time he's 20/21
  10. Better than not getting a loan and then playing non-league football in 5 years if he stayed here
  11. Sorry, but in this instance, we only have ourselves to blame. Yes, the system isn't fit for purpose but if we can't bring players through with everything out our disposal then we deserve what we get.
  12. Out of interest, why would they be annoyed with those 2? Is the issue the treatment in the youth teams or is it about the lack of first team opportunities?
  13. The same Liam Delap who made his debut for them at 17? Then got loads of championship loans. Cole Palmer who had played 40 games for the club before he was 21. Not to mention he had the likes of Foden (came through Man City academy and was player of the year) De Bruyne, Silva, Mahrez etc all in his position ahead of him, yet still played that often. Who scored 2 of their goals at the weekend? Oh another young player they've given a chance to. 4 academy players in their starting lineup at the weekend. And that's competing against some of the best players in the world. And even if you don't get a chance in the first time, you probably get fast tracked into a championship of top tier European loan. What do you get at Leicester? Under 21's football with a lower league loan when you're 21 if you're lucky. Objectively, getting out of Leicester as a youngster is a great move.
  14. Wishful thinking. Your logic is sound but unfortunately it's been this way for as long as I can remember and that's with certain coaches who supposedly liked young players (Rodgers, RVN, even Maresca when you actually look the amount of chances afforded to younger players). There's always an excuse to not pick them.
  15. Is it a difficult choice? Go to Man City and get better coaches, better players around you and to learn from etc, and most depressingly, more of a chance to break into the first team. Look at Nyoni who was far less hyped than Monga and he played for Liverpool at 16 and has picked up a handful more appearances at 17. Look at Man City's record for giving youngsters a chance. Would love to know where this evidence is for people thinking that these guys are more likely to get a chance with us, because I don't see it anywhere? Logically, they should but we are absolutely atrocious and developing younger players and giving them opportunities here or out on loan. Thomas probably the only 1 who's actually been given a first team chance as a very young player and even that was out of necessity. Unless we change how we operate, there is almost no reason for him to stay here over Man City.
  16. Just got to the point where he's talking about Vichai . Such a shame that Top seems to display so few of these qualities
  17. Don't think he will. At least not until he's retired as he's got too much respect for the club and wouldn't feel like the professional thing to do.
  18. More articulate and thoughtful than 99% of footballers out there. Probably the only footballer who I could listen to and always find it interesting.
  19. Great to see. Hopefully he gets back in the team for the last few games.
  20. I hope you've got kids otherwise you might not be seeing your other half ever again... Well, except maybe in court when she testifies against you
  21. Definitely something like this but this would only benefit teams like us and not teams further down the pyramid, so not to this extent. You'd never get youngsters go and sign for a L1/L2 club as even a championship/lower end PL team would never take a punt on them when you're getting into the £millions, so they would just reject the chance to join those academies/youth setups in hope for a bigger club. That then further reduces the money these clubs can make and would also lead to producing far fewer players of quality in the country.
  22. Na, we blew it. Of course things can change and we could win an FA Cup or even finish top 4 as a one off but other clubs have all raised the bar off the field (or at least mirrored out successful model, or that of a Brighton/Brentford) so your chance of getting a competitive advantage is very limited. Couple that with PSR and it's very hard to ever get to a secure place. We really should have secured ourselves as a PL club for 10+ years if we'd got over the line with top 4 and managed it better.
  23. Yeah and still got relegated. He had his own way so often which was the problem. Well done for being a total narcissist and it shows in his performances when things go wrong. The only sensible outcome was sacking him at the start of the season after that awful run or to be honest, probably when we went out of the Conference League (pathetic that we didn't win that given we were the joint favourites for the Europa League and crashed out at the group stage). Sure we were 17th or 18th in the expected points table that season but somehow finished 8th. That tells you all you need to know; dreadful management being outweighed by excellent individuals.
  24. Absolutely hasn't softened at all. Probably got worse if anything. Everything about him, his decisions and the way he acted (blaming fans for being making the players nervous at Brighton a particular favourite, when we were actually yelling at the players to boot it clear instead of pissing around at the back). I think you need to split his tenure in 2 as his first 18-24 months would put him up there as one of the very best managers we've had but the second half was failure beyond anything else, including the likes of Taylor. We all know the board are crap and it probably would have ended up like this eventually, but if Rodgers hadn't dismantled everything good we did, absolutely bottled CL football again (though I let him off the first time because it wasn't unexpected and injuries to certain players) and wasted all that money on players he didn't use, then our medium term future could have been completely different. We really did have a chance to completely separate ourselves from the other clubs outside the big 6 for at least a 10 year period or so, but look at us now. On the way back to being a yo-yo club at best.
  25. Or, and this is a radical idea, how about you just ignore them? Unless they are genuinely a twat (thinking of Faes for example who is awful and constantly talking about leaving), then just don't say anything positive. You talk about Skipp who's been rubbish but he's 1 of the few that actually does try (even if he could try harder), so feels just as cowardly to go up them in the street and do that. As Mike says, do it in the ground and actually give it the beans
