Comparing this season to 2014/15 Great Escape
dmayne7 replied to tickler28's topic in Leicester City Forum
I wouldn't say that I was certain about it, but I remember saying to a family member with 10 games to go, that we could definitely stay up. That team was exactly that; a team. Had been together a few years and experienced the heartbreak of the playoff game and channelled it into something positive. The ones that have faced adversity here, have never been able to deal with that (Vardy aside). Not to mention that the 14/15 team generally played very well and were in such a false position, hence the hope I had that we could turn it around. We are where we are because we deserve to be. Apart from the place in the table, the situation is entirely different. -
If so, you'd have to change your username to 'Always the year after McAteer doesn't play for us'. Would love him to be successful but at times, he genuinely looks like he shouldn't be a pro footballer at any level. So out of his depth.

Cutting but so true
-
He's so much better than last time we were in the PL but still pretty rank. It's criminal that he cannot defend one on one. Not as in, he's bad it, it's that he basically cannot do it
-
If we do go as expected, I kind of hope we have 5 years of mid table mediocrity just so we can recalibrate and get out of our minds the recent success, and the pining for that. Will make supporting these jesters much more enjoyable
-
It's not really is it? He's scored some important goals but he has to be the most negative attacking player I've ever seen. First instinct is to always turn back
-
Ayew cracks me up. He could not do anything more slowly if he tried. Great player to have on when chasing the game.
-
If McAteer is in your squad at this level, you deserve to go down. Gave away the free kick, lost his man as well.

Some intensity

Bouba Pelmare
-
So poor isn't he
-
We've lost the plot now
-
Hardly dominated. We've been in control but not carried lots of threat
-
How was that not a foul on Soumare
-
With what part? You don't think he's been poor; totally fine. You want to claim that he hasn't been caught out; that's just ignoring facts
-
Happy with this approach if we are prepared to really crank up the last 20/30 mins. Do still need to move it a little quicker at times.
-
Personally think he's been pretty poor today. Very laboured on the ball and caught out a couple of times
-
Ah, so Woyo thinks there has been some mistake and Rudkin has actually put an extra 0 in there. Understandably a bit annoyed as he thinks he's only being offered £10k a week. Deal will be finalised when somebody tells him that Rudkin really is that thick and it's no mistake
-
Iversen is plenty good enough as a back up. Yes, he's awful with his feet but if it makes sacrificing the ability to play out from the back in order to have a very dependable shot stopper, then that's a sacrifice you make.
-
He's pretty quick so don't know where this myth has come from, he's got exceptional movement which is something that can't be taught. Not saying he's absolutely amazing but when you factor in how inexperienced he is, he's still clearly shown he's better than bang average at championship level. Don't mind selling him if he's not going to feature but just seems like a pointless signing considering he did look very good when he actually got a chance. Lots of ifs and maybes but continue the same kind of numbers and you could double what we paid for him in the summer (when you consider the sums that some championship teams pay now), which also has a bigger impact in PSR terms. If this gives us good flexibility in the market now, then absolutely sell him but if it doesn't, and we need a striker option, he should be back in the squad. If the £7m that was mentioned in the comment I replied to, is the case, then it's utterly pointless in the world of PSR
-
But he's not a 'bang average championship striker'. Look at his age and his record and tell me how you come to that conclusion? He's quite clearly a good striker at that level who will only get better. He's definitely shown he will score goals at that level. £7m is giving us next to no profit in terms of PSR and we desperately need a striker what ever division we're in. I don't disagree with your general logic, but I don't think Cannon is a great case.
-
Even if you don't rate him, you can't say that £25 quid isn't a bargain for a PL footballer

LCFC will NOT face any charges for breaching PSR

He's an intelligent (though nowhere near as smart as he thinks) man who has an opinion on EVERYTHING, literally everything. Because of that, it means he will say lots of things that make sense but just as many, if not more that are utter nonsense. This is one of those occasions. You also have to factor in that this is a guy who's been involved in high level business/media for 3 decades so he's far more comfortable in front of the spotlight and use to churning out the smoke and mirrors defence. -

Quality. He's lost the plot. And the Everton fans crying in the comments even better -
We need to talk about social media and fans

Came into this thread and it's like more like the FT equivalent of a self-help group . Why any grown adult would spend loads of time on social media is beyond me. I totally understand using it for a bit of news on the odd check in but it's so obviously unhealthy for people, it not like it needs a watershed moment or some big exposé on the negative effects. I guess YT is probably the exception in that yes, it's still full of talentless pricks, but there is also a ton of high quality, informative and helpful content out there. When it comes to the PSR stuff, the whole club is in the gutter that I really don't see why people were getting in to such a frenzy about it before any concrete news. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best is my mantra. Hopefully it will give us an injection of positivity and some impetuous to do something good with the rest of the season.
