Southampton Away Sat 4th March 17:30

I am taking my 9 year old son on the coach from the KP and it's due to arrive about 2pmish. With the kick off not being until 5:30pm, is there anywhere suitable for me to take him for food or anywhere to look around in the near vicinity? -
The difference for me is that we are now playing to his strengths, come short, get the ball, lay it off or turn and head towards goal. Previously, because we had Vardy running in behind at every opportunity we wanted a like for like replacement, hence the reason we went for Daka, and we have perservered with that tactic until recently, with mixed results. The penny has finally dropped for BR and he has realised that Iheanacho can be equally as effective if we change our style slightly to accomodate him, we did change and have scored 8 goals in 2 games as a result. Long may it continue.

In the event that this makes it to members, I am thinking of driving down with my son, staying over night and driving back Sunday morning. Any recommendations of places to stay? -
I can see it now, Maddison over the corner, Souttar at the back post waiting for the delivery, towering over his marker, fans getting excited with the prospect of us finally having a threat from set pieces, in comes the corner..............................headed away at the near post under no pressure
-
Is he any better than Anthony Gordon who is apparently worth twice that. For someone with proven PL ability and can hit the ground running, I think £20m is a bargain
-
We've gone from scraping loose change together to pay the tea lady to big spending Chelsea in less than week. If we can get 4 players in key positions out of this transfer window then we will have worked a small miracle.
-
Might actually benefit Barnes as teams set up to close the space down for him knowing we have little or no threat down the right. With genuine attacking wide men on both flanks, it might give Barnes a bit more room.
-
So how does this short term contract thing work then? Presumably it's not a loan in the traditional sense as it's on a special licence. What will that cost us until June? Surely not a huge amount?

Top marks for effort!

That's some of the worst Photoshopping I've ever seen

I've always liked the idea of personalised stuff. I played in goal for years and always had my initials on the wrist band of my gloves. I bought a set of bath towels for me and the wife and had our names embroidered on them. Personalised stuff has always appealed to me, no idea why.
-
Always wanted one, don't know why and my Wife doesn't know why either. Nothing fancy, just my initials or something similar but where do I get it from? There appear to be many places online but all at slightly different prices and all charging extra for different additional services. Any recommendations on a place to get one from and how do I avoid paying more then I need to?
-
Yep that is a big worry, for reasons already explained. If you can't score goals and your'e shipping them the other end, that only ends one way
-
Fortunately we've got what the other 6 teams (apart from Leeds) haven't got and that is the ability to create and score goals, that will be the difference I think regardless of how poorly we defend. Most teams that get relegated do so not so much because they can't defend but because they can't score enough goals to win matches.

If the likes of Bournemouth and other bottom half clubs start to attrack billionaire owners they wont want their wealth to be throttled by the likes of FFP, so can see more backing a breakway league where money is power and they can set their own rules
-
This is an interesting point to start from. According to transfermarkt.co.uk, Newcastle's net spend over the last 5 years is €-349.24m, now clearly they have significant income to net that off against so it's not as bad it it looks, however Leicester's net spend over the same period is only €-39.43m, the lowest in the league by some margin,
-
Once bitten, twice shy then maybe?
-
A couple of thousand more in a stadium for the likes of Everton and West Ham doesn't equate to £250m more net spend though, it makes no sense to me. Are our owners too nice? Does their desire to always act in line with the rules and always be seen to be the nice guys prevent them from taking the financial risks needed to push us up the league?
-
The problem is though, if we don't push the boundaries, we are going to get left behind and you feel from reading between the lines, that is what is frustrating Rodgers. He is right when he says there is only so much he can do without resources. Mentioned again this week about lack of resources and being left behind. The owners long term plan is to invest in the infrastructure of the club to in turn generate more revenue to then be more competetive in the field, the problem is, none of that infrastructure improvements have started yet and could take 2 years to bear any fruit. We could be in the Championship by then with other clubs following the idea of Villa, West Ham and Newcastle by pumping in millions from a seemingly bottomless pit of unregulated money.
-
Rodgers has said in an interview with Sky Sports that our net spend in 3 1/2 years is £10m, whereas Villa, Newcastle and West Ham is £250m. Without the owners pumping money into the club, which is not allowed these days, how is that possible? Please someone explain it to me in simple terms so I can understand. How is a well run club likes ours being left behind by the likes of Villa and West Ham??

When he said "same squad as Gillingham" was Ward in the squad? I know Smithies was on the bench but wasn't sure if we took 3 keepers and just left Ward out of the match day squad? -

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you.
