Genuinely can’t believe there are people claiming to be Leicester fans who think this bloke should still have a job here.

Playing an over the hill BDCR over Alves in Carabao cup games. Do you want me to hate you Steve? That’s how it’s looking to me pal.

To put into perspective the drop off in meticulous coaching between the regime under Maresca and the regime under Cooper. I was told last season that Maresca spent 2 days in pre-season that solely focused on players making sure their body position was correct to receive a pass in different areas of the pitch, that they were making sure their touch on the ball was directed in a certain way to make the patterns of play smoother and that players made sure they were passing to the correct foot of their team mates so it would make the touch and pass easier for their team mate for the next progression. Once you’ve had that level of detailed coaching to help make you a better player, it’s difficult to go back to a manager who doesn’t go into such fine detail. It’s the clubs fault really, when you’ve had a manager who’s life is living at the training ground and studying the game religiously, you need to make sure the next appointment follows similar philosophies and methods.

Their goal in the first half came from the naivety of youth with Buonanotte trying to break on the counter attack and beat a man on the edge of our box and an absolutely woeful bit of defending from JJ - who’s made a habit of being at fault for goals so far this season. Aside from that though we were all over them and were much the better side, it’s the most promising we’ve looked all season because let’s have it right this Forest team are a good outfit, they’re solid in the middle, have good long passers of the ball at the back and are rapid out wide with a big **** who can finish up top. They keep it solid, play off mistakes and play for set pieces - it’s a formula that will get you to 6-9th comfortably in this league when done well. 1st half we more than matched them, we controlled the game, we created opportunities from slick football and we looked Forest’s equals. The problem was we’ve not played this shape and drilled it regularly so as the players fatigued, mistakes were made and this played right into Forest’s hands, Nuno changed their defensive shape slightly to counter the change in our shape and the problem then was Cooper didn’t know how to change and tweak our system to break down Forest in the 2nd half. That’s the problem with having Cooper as our manager, at the highest level, your manager has to be able to read the game and change the shape of the side/tweak the system, yes the players made mistakes in the 2nd half for their goals but after Nuno’s tactical shift in the 2nd half we never caused them issues and that is on the manager.

Luckiest bastard going atm. He’s lucky that Fatawu came on with a huge chip on his shoulder.

Aideed looks like he could be a top player. Plays in the front 3 positions, for me he’s not as impressive as Monga but tbh we’ve got so many good young attacking players you could make a case for any of them having the best career in football and it would be a toss up as to who it ended up being. -
If I go for a shit every day and don’t wipe my arse, I may go days without getting shit in my under crackers but statistically more often than not I’m gonna end up with my own faeces sliding around in there ruining my gusset hygiene. It’s a bit like Steve Cooper’s Leicester City, there’s only so many times you can ride your bastard luck.

Bournemouth (H) 1 - 0 -- Post-Match Thread (5 Oct 24)

Aye, their manager is ****ing shite too. -
Ecstatic with the 3 points but he stills needs to go. We won today despite Cooper not because of him. He allowed them to build momentum in the 2nd half by persevering with tired legs for too long, he should have brought the likes of Fatawu and Edouard into the game much earlier to give us an attacking outlet. There will be people in this thread tonight making out he’s the messiah and everyone who doesn’t believe in him aren’t Leicester fans and want to see the team fail blah blah blah but the writing is still on the wall, with better finishing from Bournemouth today they win that game and we’d be in the bottom 3.

Considering the talent that has emerged from our academy, it’s disgusting that Cooper’s broken that ongoing record since 2018.

Cooper’s a spacker.

Hermansen JJ Okoli Vestergaard Kristiansen Winks Pereira Fatawu Ndidi Mavididi Vardy I would play this against Bournemouth and encourage them to keep the ball, be aggressive when it opens up and get back to enjoying it. -
Kasper Hjulmund would 100% manage us. He has knowledge of our Danish contingent and he would actually play progressive football. We don’t have to play how Enzo wanted us to play but bringing in a manager who will give them a good shape and patterns of play to improvise off then we will have a much better chance of staying up this season. https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/kasper-hjulmand-denmark-nordsjaelland-tactics/

Yeah sound but if we didn’t have the 2nd coming of a Danish goalkeeping king in goal we would have lost about 8-2.

“Tell me your new gaffer is shit without telling me he’s shit.” 🤣

There’s too many managers with good reputations that warrant a real look in at a Premier League side. Despite what many people say we have a more than good enough squad to stay up this season.
-
Aside from Kerkez their back 4 is average. I’m not taking Lewis Cook over Winks, I would say there’s barely anything between Skipp and Ryan Christie. I’d rather have Fatawu, Mavididi and Buonanotte over Semenyo, Outtara and Tavernier. Evanilson is better than Vardy at this stage in Vardy’s career. People really need to stop underplaying our squad just because the man in control of it is ****ing dog shit.

To quote Orangecity23: “The team looked bad in pre season The team looked bad in competitive PL games The team looked bad in the cup vs a League 2 team The underlying stats are bad, and indicate results will get worse than they already are if things revert to a mean level with finishing / goalkeeping. If things had gone according to XG, we'd have lost every game. The manager's past is riddled with bad stats that indicate he cannot correct his current long run without a win The manager's past indicates he is very poor at winning away games in the Premier League In game tactics are bad and not working, with noticeable problems with poor team shape and positioning, and players looking confused as to where they should be or what they should be doing There is very little change of tactics or formation on a game by game basis to try to correct this Team selections have been poor Subsitutions have been dreadful, to the point of not even making sense What, exactly, are we supposed to be looking to give us any hope that he is worth retaining, other than vague platitudes about "needing more time", or falsely labelling everyone wanting his gone as being solely motivated by his Forest links - what will he implement with more time? There is no evidence that a better style or cohesive team emerges from more time under his coaching, if his Forest team is any evidence.”

I do agree that the modern positional based approach isn’t what purists love about the game and it definitely isn’t the only approach to the game, I think the biggest issue is that you can’t go from a structured, methodical approach and then turn that off and completely change the way you are asking the players to see the game. You have to take small steps to go from one extreme to the other and Cooper hasn’t done that. You are right that confidence is a huge part of football that often gets overlooked and for me from day one Cooper hasn’t given that air of confidence that he can build on from last season and doesn’t give the players an authoritative leader to get behind.
-
Someone mentioned it previously but the parallels between how Ranieri and Cooper ended up managing our club are very similar. A new leader coming into the club after a period of success. So we as fans have already seen this kind of situation play out before and we’ve seen how a new manager coming in and making subtle tweaks can build on the previous man’s foundations. That being said Cooper set himself up to fail from the outset for me. Despite saying he wanted to build off last season, what we are seeing has no resemblance to how the team performed under Enzo. Enzo was meticulous in planning, he made sure that every player knew their role within the 11 man team if they were selected for a game and the team functioned as a cohesive unit pretty much from the start. I remember watching the first half hour of football against Liverpool in pre-season and thinking “this is impressive to have a new group of players performing like this so early on”. The players were almost robotic in that they knew exactly where the ball should go when faced with different scenarios on the pitch and the patterns of play were rhythmic at best. Cooper has come in and taken that structure away, you can see it in the training videos, Enzo and his coaching staff would use the same training drills and repetition was key, Enzo essentially acted like a conductor for an orchestra, making sure players were all on the same page. Cooper and his staff have taken the opposite approach and are trying to get the players to be expressive and work out solutions themselves and the players clearly aren’t reacting to this, this is why we look so lost in games, you can’t go from an environment of heavily structured play to completely removing the structure, it has to be a process. He’s alienated the two vital cogs in the Enzo machine, Vestergaard and Ricardo and he’s made the roles they played null and void in his new setup. He’s also not getting the best out of Harry Winks, this new system we are playing does not play to his strengths and going back to a double pivot in midfield instead of a full back inverting will not work unless he plays a midfielder alongside Winks that can receive the ball under pressure, turn and get us up the field. Both Fulham and Everton focused solely on marking Winks out of the game and leaving Ndidi free in deep areas of the pitch because they knew we couldn’t play fluidly through the 3rds of the pitch when building from the back with Ndidi. Not to mention throughout the summer, Cooper would make it clear that he felt the team wasn’t good enough in attacking areas and needed reinforcements, it’s not a great message to a group of players that you’ve worked with for a matter of weeks and then imagine being a player from the squad last season and look at who your new leader has brought in; BDCR - no better than what we already have and now preventing the development pathway of the likes of Alves, McAteer and Golding. Ayew - no better than Mavididi, Fatawu, Vardy, Daka and albeit a better player than BDCR, does he really improve us at this stage of his career? Buonanotte - clearly a good player and does improve us but won’t be here after this season Bilal - jury’s out but based on his performance on Saturday he’s gonna need time and nurturing to get up to speed Edouard - no better than Vardy or Daka and we spent the bulk of our transfer money on Skipp and Okoli in positions that we can’t say are of a real need in comparison to us screaming out for a proper striker who can start to take the mantle from the legend that is Jamie Vardy. He’s ****ed it because he’s not at the level of the previous manager and he’s thrown away pretty much everything Enzo built upon last season, despite what he may claim in the media.
