How are people training this week leading up to the half marathon? Is it worth doing a long run early in the week or take it easy on the legs and do a few slow short runs?

Did my first ever 20k yesterday evening. Legs were absolutely done in by the end of it, and today I'm walking like I've soiled myself. Felt so ill for about 2 hours afterwards too took me about 2:07 so 2:15 in the Leicester HM might be a bit of a stretch!

I've signed up for the Leicester half marathon. Furthest I've ever ran is 15k I'm just under 90 mins. I'm thinking a comfortable time of around 2 hours 15 but I hear the last mile is a killer

Rutland water 10k in November. It's in the evening so its lit up. Really enjoyable run and it's flat!

This place is as close as I come to social media these days. Most formats of it are entirely toxic. After a few days away from it I noticed a substantial change in my mindset.

Flying to Amsterdam tomorrow and going to watch the F1 while we're there. Was really looking forward to it... however the wife is being sick, and I've got a tooth abscess. Not only am I bricking it about flying with tooth pain (I've heard horror stories about the air pressure inflicting awful pain) but after a quick trip to the dentist I find out it's going to cost around £5500 to get 2 dental implants to replace the damaged teeth, which are both at the front. He gave the option of dentures or a dental bridge for much cheaper but I'm tthinking I may as well just get them done once and for all

Honestly, yes. I know it's not highly thought of on here but it probably saved me an hour. Not something I do often, and might not do again all season.

I left on 85 on Monday. Hated doing so but had to be up at 5am for work and an important training day. Would never leave early on a weekend but so be it. Probably got an hour extra sleep, there's alot of roadworks going on around Leicester right now. Didn't clog up the stairs though, that's just being a t**t. Each to their own.

Off to Zandvoort for the race weekend, can't wait! Has anybody been before? Staying in Amsterdam Friday to Monday.

I'm looking at joining a new gym also. Have been going to Braunstone leisure centre for over 5 years but it's far too busy now (mostly teens in groups sat on their phones). I live in Glen Parva just outside of South Wigston. I'd love to rejoin David Lloyds at Meridian but prices are extortionate and I've heard it's gone downhill. Any recommendations within a 15 minute drive? Would happily pay £50 odd a month.

Me and the wife went to the Caribbean in December for 2 weeks and are doing the same this year, getting back on 23rd of December. Like you, we're hooked! Went with Tui on Marella voyager last time and are going on the marella discovery this time. No other holiday compares now. I'd highly recommend Marella if you want a more varied crowd (less formal and more casual).

Poor tactics all round from us. Jonny, Livingstone and Jordan shouldn't be there. Topley would be top of my list and I'd have gone with Duckett and Dawson.

I'll pay more attention next time to sweat. Never really thought of it like that. I'm fairly average height and weight, quite fit without being big headed but have been running 3 times a week for 4 years and doing weight 3 times a week.. yet I sweat like a pig even just sitting out in the sun, not sure the heat agrees with me. (No I'm not ginger)

Appreciate that, as I say it took an hour or so after the run to really feel bad so it was unexpected but god I don't want to feel like that again! I'll have a couple of packs of ready salted ready for when I get back tomorrow.
