  1. The cynic in me says that both GOTS winners were the first on the list, and therefore the default vote if people couldn’t be bothered to choose. There’s a case for Youri v Man U for mens’ goal of the season, but there’s nothing right about O’Brien v Durham winning the Womens’. Had to be one of the ones against Tottenham, both screamers…
  2. All the best panaceas are situation-dependent
  3. Let’s just hope someone else gets the chance. As bad as Barnes was, it’s 3 years of coaching and game plans that have left him not knowing what to do with the ball. The only growth Brendan is now capable of is new ways to disappoint.
  4. I woulda gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling etc…
  5. Knocky had those two bangers in one game-the scorpion and the 40 yarder. I want to say Huddersfield, but will probably have to edit to look clever. It was Huddersfield!
  6. The issue with him isn’t that he hasn’t done good things-he definitely has. It isn’t that we lose games from time to time-every team does that, even the sainted Man City. The issue is that when he does something wrong (bring a third cb on to defend a lead, playing Maddison out wide, passing round the back four when one goal up and dominating, watching corners sail into the box without attacking them, etc etc etc) he does it over and over and over again to try to prove the theory was sound. No one minds a mistake, but it’s infuriating to watch him instruct the team to make it the same way every week.
  7. I think Rowling has been brave and foolish in making herself a target opponent in this debate. I also think she’s expressed herself poorly at times, but also that the quotes she’s slammed for are some way into an argument usually. In essence, I believe what she’s saying is that the rights of the 1-2% of men who identify as women shouldn’t supersede the rights of the 95% of women who identify as women. And I agree with her on that.
  8. Deserved result. No ambition to push forward. No creativity. Why was Youri still on the pitch-I contributed more than he did and I’m in Oxford. Guy’s knackered. Still so much of the very basic nature of football that Brendan has to learn.
  9. Bloody hell, just imagine that bench- Lewandowski and Nacho not even starting! Sure we’d find something for Kane to do- filling up the Lucozade bottles?
  10. He was only allowed on one Strip
  11. He wouldn’t. We’d have sold the useless fecker to fund another year of The Kramaric Experiment.
  12. If we did that, wouldn’t Vestergaard have to retire first? I’m in!
  13. Ndidi’s out of form but will come back. Kel won’t hang around to be 3rd choice in a mid-table side. Barnes and Maddison will have offers, or will have agents whispering. Ricardo’s getting back to his best. Fofana’s one of the best in the league if he can get fit without Rodgers wrecking him again. Not that they *will* leave, but if an offer comes in in summer, there’s a lot less to keep them at a mid-table club than a team in Europe.
  14. These would all be valid arguments if we didn’t look so utterly and repeatedly clueless. The losing itself isn’t important. It’s the manner, over and over again, of poor defending, especially at set pieces. For over a year. It’s inept substitutions. It’s players coming back from long term injury, playing three games in a week and going off with long term injuries. I’m not entitled. I wasn’t Nige out when we hit that horror run in 14/15 because we actually looked decent a lot of the time. I’m not Rodgers out for losing matches or for being mid table. I’m Rodgers out because we lose the same way over and over again, got schooled by Forest, missed UCL twice, and as a direct consequence have lost Tielemans and will probably lose more. We weren’t bad today. But tell me you weren’t terrified every time we conceded a corner, and have been forever. It’s not improving. It hasn’t improved for ages. Brendan out.
  15. Lookman MOTM, Ricardo and Tielemans also decent. Ndidi shit, Daka anonymous… Leave
  16. We were much better today. A rub of the green, or Vardy away from a decent result. We set up as well as we could in the circumstances. Even Tielemans showed up today. Not changing my mind until we see out a win and he doesn’t try to sabotage it, but there wasn’t a lot to criticise today.
  17. Thanks-I appreciate the reply, and I understand your point of view. For me, to counter your points: Rodgers has had Soyuncu for three years and hasn’t made a defender of him. He’s negligently, full knowing what he was doing, broken Vardy, Justin, Evans, Ndidi (Little Wes wasn’t his fault tbf). He’s cruelly ruined Iheanacho’s confidence a second time, when he was flying. We have had open goal opportunities at Champions League qualification which he got us into contention for. He’s then implausibly thrown them away through repeated tactical naivety. No, tactical ineptitude. Major players leaving to further their ambitions is on him. I just don’t think bringing our great generation of youngsters into a team he’s managing, where he’s in charge of defensive drills, where he’s the one charged with building a winning mentality, can be good for them, because he’s had a year to coach corners and failed. He’s had a year to work on closing games out with a narrow lead, and he’s learned nothing. One of the arguments for keeping Puel was his knack for bringing youngsters through, and it wasn’t enough on its own to save him. Right now, Brendan is Puel without the transfers.
  18. Even if that were the theory, someone who has watched football since the late 90s might try pushing somebody onto Rice to stop the pinged balls. “Keirnan, just stand on that greasy fecker if he looks like getting near the ball.” Then if Rice does squeeze a decent ball forward, trust Amartey to deal with it as he had all of the second half. In any case, we’ve clearly established that if there’s one thing that Vestergaard is worse at than following his man, it’s winning a header against literally anybody. No excuses for BR
  19. The guy’s a troll, don’t feed him.
  20. This sub in isolation wasn’t. Possibly even playing Justin wasn’t. But he has broken players and made match-losing subs over and over again in the last 3 years. His failure to see out games has cost us the CL, which has cost us Youri. It’s only going to get worse, and critically he hasn’t shown a glimmer of awareness or improvement in all that time.
  21. How is Vestergaard getting more than 1? What would he have to do to be rated worse??
  22. From a game management perspective, it’s difficult to imagine there being anywhere worse to go…
  23. Ok, I’ll bite. I like your posts. Why? What do you see in him? My only reservation in sacking him before the post match interview would be how much it will cost, but keeping him rather than bringing in a football manager will cost us players. Ndidi, Maddison, Ricardo, Barnes-are they really going to hang around in the summer to be coached like this? Let’s get some tactical nous in, get some good feelings going among our still excellent squad (easy to forget I know) and get people wanting to play here next season.
  24. Hate him. Late subs cost us again. Unnecessary CB on with 7 minutes to go: no brain, no spine, no sense of his own weakness. Get out Brendan
  25. I hate Brendan. Youri off, Vestergaard on. Will this arrogant c*** never learn??
