  1. Good banter tbf.
  2. Win tomorrow and panic over.
  3. I mean he was clearly told to use the hammer that way. I think it’s disingenuous to suggest that his hammering method is a good reason why he shouldn’t be in charge, rather than say his systematic dismantling of the healthcare and welfare systems and his obvious disdain for poor people.
  4. Someone like Fred is intelligent and empathic enough to understand that she’d clearly just lost the plot, and after a couple of days she’d be fine. I don’t think it’s that deep. Notice how he just got on with it afterwards.
  5. He was terrible to my favourite person on MIC back in the day so I still hate him.
  6. It is crazy that net migration is 5x higher than the day of the Brexit vote. Do those people you adore Boris Johnson not feel cheated yet?
  7. A mass stabbing attack in Dublin. Dublin stabbings - latest: Children among five injured after serious attack outside school in Parnell Square | The Independent
  8. I reckon Georgia have a very good chance as they have an actual world class player in their ranks.
  9. I notice the Blast finals day has been farmed out to September too.
  10. The problem with the current tax system is that it penalises those at the bottom and not those at the top. The party who wants to win the next election should surely look at reversing that. Go harder on tax evading organisations, raise corporation tax for the companies that make the most profit and raise the 20% tax threshold.
  11. Maybe we just spoke to people who were very stubborn. I’ve looked on a couple forums and they do suggest that it’s not official policy but you have to keep trying with them. Anyway, it has been a lot easier with octopus.
  12. We had this problem. British Gas don't let you reduce your direct debit even if you're massively in credit, they just give it you back when you leave which is stupid for so many reasons. We switched to Octopus who are much more flexible and we truly do only pay for what we use like @HighPeakFox says, although we did the meter readings with British Gas and they still massively overcharged us. My advice would be switch to Octopus, although I think OVO do the same.

  14. There was something out in the past couple of weeks about a common ancestor being found in bats so probably not, and no way did anyone release it on purpose at a state level.
  15. The Nottingham observations are interesting as now I feel it’s way less sketchy than Leicester. I wonder how much of it is historic, the meadows v st.Anns gangs are all either dead or in prison. I really don’t think it’s that bad. As for Marseille, if you stick to the harbour bit it’s nice but the gang warfare there currently is absolutely insane. I think they’re averaging one murder every two days this year. And we’re talking Kalashnikovs, not poxy little knives and fists.
  16. there’s a new unidentified pneumonia doing the rounds in China. Buckle up folks. Let’s pray it isn’t happening again.
  17. It’s hard to see anything, aside from a war with Argentina, changing the polls right now and over the next 12 months.
  18. If they were going for the autumn, then they’d introduce the legislation at the usual time. Rushing it to January indicates that they need something for April/May time.
  19. Reeves is irritating for those of us on the centre left but you can’t deny that she is now a very competent, driven centrist chancellor to be.
  20. Emergency legislation for January. An election in May looks on!
  21. Suella was ahead of the curve re tents. We will be seeing tent cities in our city centres as councils have nowhere to house homeless people anymore, because they have no money. Cutting NI is going to accelerate this process.
  22. Agree with the Naples and Marseille mentions on here. Genuinely mental places.
  23. This budget is fundamentally flawed by the chancellor telling everyone how wonderful the economic situation is when for 90% of people it is continually dire. Nobody has even attempted to properly adapt post 2008. Just cuts, cuts and further austerity measures (minus covid years).
  24. If you want parents to work then surely you make childcare more affordable? Making people work more to pay for expensive childcare seems cyclical and stupid.
  25. Budget day or as this year will be known ‘how many people can the tories trick with their tax cuts’. By the way, with the state of our public services, tax cuts aren’t a great idea?
