  1. Assume this is used to determine when the ball is played when deciding offside calls? Or is that still at the discretion of the powers that be?
  2. They can go to the concourse if they want? Stoppage in play encourages this. Also, very unlikely to take a lighting strike under a huge metallic structure (that will have lighting grounding devices installed). More to the point, who’s Noone and why do they care?
  3. This isn’t aimed solely at you mate, but the selling clubs will always want to sell pre June, buying clubs want to buy post June. In any sale (of absolutely anything), the power lies with the buyer. If I want a new sofa on 28th May but don’t get paid until the 1st June, I’ll buy it then. It’s so simple but it needs to be looked at from a neutral perspective. We likely couldn’t sell Barnes until after June, as that’s when any buyers were willing to stump up.
  4. Regarding the Lookman/Fatawu comparison…. LCFC had a clause on Fatawu’s loan agreement (I’m not being facetious, I’m aware you know). So Fatawu’s value is likely higher but we paid what was agreed. Had that not been in place, he’d have likely fetched above what we paid, granted it wouldn’t have been £50m. Although I can’t see anyone paying £50m for Lookman either, especially in the current climate. Also, a good coach with a team/squad that costs ‘next to nothing’ could easily get relegated, as could a poor coach with a good squad. I agree, Cooper should be given a fair crack at it, but that includes a certain amount of backing from the board. That said, when a managers time is up, decisions need to be made swiftly and due diligence on a replacement needs to be done as soon as the possibility of a sacking is near, most certainly not post-sacking. That leads to a rushed appointment and weeks in managerial purgatory (neither are beneficial to the club). I’m not really sure where this has come from. We know we can’t spend much, Cooper should be aware and the board/Top will likely deal with Cooper accordingly (unless he morphs into BR). They can’t and probably don’t expect miracles, but he has to get us in touch and keep up there to warrant continued support. I’ve read that we may have brought him in as a manager who could likely gain us promotion should we go down, but that would have to involve going down by a small margin. If we end up adrift, there’s no way a manager can remain in post; too much goes on within a club for his position to remain tenable. Reminds me of one of my rants after a few shandy’s
  5. I was thinking it might be that and did say it could well be revisionism… but 85mins is generous.
  6. If that’s aimed at me, I’m not measuring by success or even quality. Those sides definitely united the country more than the recent ones. I wanted to watch them. Right now I could take it or leave it.
  7. I think nearly all teams are a reflection of the manager. But the current generation seem to play for England as a marketing/PR exercise. Previous generations, seemed to west the shirt with more pride and many of them were bigger superstars than the current squad. Maybe a bit of revisionism, maybe not. I wouldn’t say I’ve celebrated an England goal as much as I did Beckham’s vs Greece/Argentina or Owen vs Argentina for years. Personally, I just feel so far detached from the recent England squads as I’ve ever felt. For me, that’s not all down to the manager, although the sooner he’s gone the better.
  8. Never seen a side with actual talent play into blind alleys so often. Never miss a man out either, it’s unbelievably stale. Every final ball is playing the percentages and hopeful. It’d be easy to say, they’re ‘lesser’ sides and are sitting deep, but a better side could do the same and really punish us on the break (or just beat us playing like a better side can). Englands group games have taken away any excitement I had about this tournament. I was saying earlier, the previous eras… Beckham etc ultimately failed but there was something likeable about them. Some passion, national pride, etc. These lot don’t show anything like the squads of 96, 98, 02 did.
  9. I find it absolutely horrendous. The PL panels/pundits could be better, but leave all the over dramatised razzmatazz for the US.
  10. I think the circumstances were likely influential in the decision to erect the statue. Regardless of what’s occurred since, Vichai was hugely influential to the resurgence of our football club from EFL obscurity to English champions. Although, having statues of former greats elsewhere around the stadium is something that could and maybe should happen. Out of curiosity, who would you have? For me, Vardy is the only one from my living memory that warrants one and he’s still playing.
  11. It was! Couldn’t see any value at all (with modest stakes) so was hedging on the favs with lengthened odds. Wasn’t a great festival for the casual punter was it
  12. I don’t think there’s a horse racing thread (if there is, sort me out a solid and merge). Ascot is over, bit of a blank for flat racing. Frankels female offspring beat a good crown by a mile, probably the highlight for me and had it by 6L to win, Could afford the bills again after that. Roll on National Hunt, the flat is shit!
  13. 100%. When I said he will be pragmatic, I think that also allows the wingers and forwards to be effective. Defend well and use your outlets.
  14. So many on here didn’t want to see the football Enzo played. Understandable. We’ve now got a pragmatic manager who will likely set up solid and not to lose. It’s not the dream appointment, but he MIGHT keep us up. The options were poor, I don’t think I’d have been satisfied with any other than maybe Corberan, and that was one that could’ve gone either way. Glad it’s not Potter, the bloke has delusions of grandeur. Did well with Brighton, to be outshone by De Zerbi and relied on a fantastic scouting programme (which we currently don’t have). We were close to appointing Marsch last season (allegedly) we got Maresca. Things could’ve been much worse. I’d like to see everyone get behind the manager and the squad, accept the losses and hope Cooper builds a team spirit that can keep us up.
  15. Yeah I agree, probably didn’t reply in the context of the whole thread. Although staying up is essential to allow us to control finances.
  16. This isn’t a free hit. Our clubs future hinges on this season. Promotion was essential, if we get relegated (which I know is likely), we could be in serious bother. This is the season that matters. I for one, for this season, don’t care if we stink the place out and stay up. Genuinely don’t care it’s it’s Cooper, Ole or Allerdyce, we just need to stay up. I want someone competent, but I want us to stay up at all costs.
  17. Don’t worry lads, if we don’t get someone in soon, we can do the September til May league table. Leeds style!
  18. Why would Vestergaard entertain a one year deal?
  19. I think we can let this one slide @kushiro Great content as always
  20. You can certainly mention KDH and England in the same sentence if the context is of the post you replied to.
  21. Agreed! St James has probably the best (or at least one of) locations for a stadium.
  22. In that case, spot on! Elland Road is a logistical nightmare for an event like MW and Headingley is nowhere near big enough. Newcastle is ideal. St James is miles better than Elland Road too.
  23. Really late to the party on this one, but I’m not sure how the cities you mentioned suit a Magic Weekend over Leeds (or Manchester if it was there). 90% of fans can get to Leeds in under an hour, Catalans and Broncos aside, Leeds is still closer with LBA and Manchester Airport, again under an hour away. Newcastle for the atmosphere around the city, I’d agree. Location. Newcastle, Cardiff and Edinburgh aren’t the better ones for the fans. Size wise, Leeds is over double the size of Cardiff and Newcastle… and still a fair size bigger than Edinburgh. It’s seen as a northern shit hole that doesn’t have the charm of Edinburgh or Newcastle, but it’s ideal for Magic Weekend.
  24. ‘Get the Rotherham keeper’
  25. 3 cup finals now. The first legs are always cagey and the two 0-0s makes for a great set of game left to play.
