I'm sorry but even the most ardent Rudkin apologist would have to accept that managing the personnel in the squad is the absolute crux of his job. The entire raison d'être of a Director of Football is that Head Coaches are hired and fired in such short terms in modern football that a longer term employee of the club needs to be in charge of building and sustaining a squad (and, in theory, it's footballing identity.) Rudkin exists, if nothing else, to make sure we have both a competitive and an affordable squad. That's the absolute minimum of "HiS ReMiT." The fact we got relegated with the most expensive squad to ever go down, not to mention the fact we have multiple charges against us for spending breaches in the Premier League, is all the evidence you need that he's had significant failings in his position over the last two to three years.
