Sorry, just realised it would have to be "lost to" not "gone out to" because I'm not sure how the table works in the cricket WC but I'm assuming you've still got more chances?
-
Have you ever gone out to the same country twice in one day at two world cups before? I mean that would be impressive.

Swansea is clear. Not even forecast to rain at all.

I think that's a little different. We're always hysterical in here. We were in the middle of it and people were naturally anxious. There was also, even amongst Leicester fans, a lack of understanding of just how good we were and that we had a core of genuine world class players. We kept buying the narrative that it was a fluke and we'd inevitably collapse, regardless of how silly it was. Winning by 10 points isn't that close. If Chelsea, Liverpool or Man City had the kind of lead we had going in to the end of the season people would have been saying the race was over.

You'll still get there quicker than anyone driving through Newport

Which album do you revisit the most often?

Yeah I was gonna say, now we just need some cocky Gen Z twat to link three bands inspired by the Gaslight Anthem, Street Dogs and Tossers haha. Gaslight Anthem was a bit of a stretch maybe as a comparison to The Boss, they deny he's a direct influence on the band collectively but he definitely is to singer Brian Fallon. I'm not entirely sure anyone particularly sounds like The Clash either tbf. Pretty much every punk band cites them as an influence, I just have a soft spot for Street Dogs. Love the Pogues though. Folk-Punk was probably my #1 music genre in my late teens and early twenties and has been a pretty big presence throughout my life. Listened to a hell of a lot of music growing up that owes an awful lot to Shane Mac et all. -
This was rumoured a few days ago and the URC publicly refuted it. I can't see it happening to be honest. My best guess is that things will just settle down and it'll be a storm in a teacup. There'll be a small review of the English league system, probably a new TV deal somewhere to ease things up and we'll get back to normal. Do think the RFU and the English clubs probably wish they'd been more receptive to overtures from the Welsh a while back though. An Anglo Welsh league would have been and still probably would be the best thing for both English and Welsh clubs, especially the English clubs on the border (of which there are many) who would gain a whole bunch of new local rivals for their fans. Worcester would still be in business imo if that had happened. But that moment has probably gone now we're in the URC.

That's X-COM Baby™! right @Beliall? Yeah probability is a big part of D&D and a lot of tactical turn based games. As per the above gag, xcom is particularly famous for it. You just have to weigh up that risk. You should be able to hover your cursor over an enemy to be shown the chance you likely have to hit. If you're quite squishy it's worth not getting too close to something that can really fvck you up. The biggest general tip I would give absolutely anyone playing any tactical turn based game, though, is to always pay attention to who is next on the initiative order and to ask yourself at all times - can I stop them having a turn? Ideally that means killing them but if you can't, can you crowd control (hold person, Hideous Laughter, etc) them? If not, can I mitigate against their damage or debuff them (blindness, disarm, fear, etc)? I find that my girlfriend just sort of attacks whoever the closest person is (that should probably worry me) without really forward thinking. I've always got one eye on the initiative tracker looking at what is coming up and how I can stop it. Your girlfriend has the right approach to a point. Stop as many people as you can with crowd control, always be trying to minimise what is coming your way. Although the best form of crowd control is murder. If you do want some more specific build help later then by all means do ping up some more details about your party and what you're trying to achieve on here. I am what is generally referred to as a min-maxer or munchkin so I love this shit I do think that's part of the problem though. Larian kinda assumed everyone would be and I think that's the level the difficulty is tuned to which is probably why I take it for granted.

@Alf Bentley Okay this isn't "new" music but it's newer than 1984! Here's some music of my youth inspired by Bruce Springsteen, The Pogues and The Clash. Pay it forward -
Talk to me about your party. Who have you got, how have you built them and what's your approach to combat? I felt that BG3 was pretty easy really compared to DOS2 but then I watched by girlfriend try it on PS5 over the last week and two things struck me. Firstly, it's actually not great at teaching new players D&D and secondly the console version of the UI really isn't super intuitive, I think it makes it harder. It's a brilliant game but not very newbie friendly which is something I took for granted being a massive nerd that's been familiar with D&D for like 25 years.

The difference there is that England in 2019 had a game plan that was specifically perfect to counter the All Blacks. It's like Eddie had been preparing for that one game for the entire world cup cycle and didn't have a plan for the final. Those couple of games were a really good example of the rock, paper, scissors nature of sporting tactics. The idea that England gassed themselves in the semi has always been a bit of a myth. Their game plan just wasn't ever going to work as well against the Saffers who were better in every department at almost everything England wanted to do.

In a grossly over simplified nutshell, club rugby globally largely over reached in the last decade with clubs spending dangerously too much on player wages in an arms race that isn't vastly different to football. Where all footballers want to be playing in the best paid league and the Champions League, rugby players basically want the same thing and because nobody wanted to miss out on playing in Europe they were all taking risks with their finances to try and attract the best squads. So a lot of clubs ended up flying dangerously close to the sun and then COVID happened. Rugby clubs are more reliant on their match day revenue compared to football and what was a really precariously balanced house of cards just sorta fell. There's enough interest in rugby in England that it'll balance itself out and you'll get back to a normal level. The problem is, to do that you'll probably find that any club not backed by a rich benefactor* (like Sarries or Bristol) probably needs to chill the fvck out for a while and just simply accept poverty. Accept you aren't getting to Europe, accept being bottom of the table, accept facing relegation, budget accordingly. That's not really an answer these clubs like to hear and the idea of the English Premiership becoming a second rate competition doesn't exactly appeal to the RFU so everyone's treating it like it's some desperate emergency that needs fixing when the answer is kinda just there in front of them, spend to your means. *obviously the Tigers are a rare exception given they've got a regular attendance of 15-20k to fall back on but that makes you like the Real Madrid of English rugby it's very rare.

@Alf Bentley I think the vast majority of us slowly phase out seeking out new music as we age. Every few years I'll pick up a new band to add to my library but generally speaking I think the bulk of what I listen to is still stuff I loved between the ages of say 14 - 24. This thread is a bit of a monument to that I think. -

Just gone to put this on and realised its an absolute prime candidate for this thread. Was talking to @Markyesterday about post rock and my gateways into the genre and I definitely think that ATDI & Mars Volta had a big impact. On that note, these two definitely as well: -
Is it just me or had this felt like the longest international break in football history. I swear the summer break went quicker. Feels like forever since we last played.
