  1. I once went to see Metallica in Amsterdam as the flight, hotel and ticket worked out cheaper than the UK ticket and a night in the hotel. So effing expensive to do things in the UK.

£130 a door is £4160. If you spend an hour a door (won't take that long, even I can do it in that time) they're quoting a rate of £120 p/h... I'll do it for £7,800.
  3. Actually gutting.
  4. Soon to discover that Weetabix cures everything.
  5. Conservative jingoism and xenophobia will always be trumped by their desire for cheap labour.

  8. Bit a shame to start the thread with news of Guenther moving on. Absolutely brilliant character and it'll be a shame to not hear from him https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/67934824

  10. Can't think of too many practical benefits (make your room look nicer with a see through screen I guess) , but really cool to see.
  11. Last time I was there they were forking pre-carved elephant leg from a bucket on the floor onto a griddle. Was grim. Still ate it.
  12. Used to live near The Black Boy and unsucessully tried to nab the sign after it closed.

  14. As if you've not done it to worse. Skim reading the headline I thought it said Cliff Richard for a second which put my heart in my mouth.
  15. Never had a pet so the price of vet bills is an alien world to me. I once collected some "special" cat food for my Aunt's cat that was basically fat and needed it to lose weight (I made a cheaper alternative suggestion that wasn't deemed appropriate). Long story short, £80 for a week's worth of cat food. When the lady said the price I literally burst out laughing assuming she was taking the piss. How wrong I was and the memory of it still haunts me to this day.
  16. Tank must be freezing, is that @Mike Oxlong?
  17. That a giant ball or has Ben White got a miniscule head?
  18. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67903655 Absolute miracle that plane made it down and the seat by the missing panel was vacant. Can't get my head around that type of catastrophic failure. 16,000ft, so just shy of half way to cruising altitude so loading conditions on the plane would be fairly minimal compared to the most significant transients it would experience. Given normal design and regulatory requirements I don't believe for a second this was a design issue and therefore is either a defect introduced at manufacture or during operation that was identified. If it's the former it's a real problem for Boeing. The design of aircraft is so tightly regulated that failures like this shouldn't happen. Unfortunately they've got so much history of absolutely crap QA and QC that how do you ever review the adequacy of the other planes? All investigators can do it review the design which has been done. Full inspection of the offending section of fuselage to see if it was original sin or an in-service issue is all they've got. Either way, you're looking at crap manufacturing or crap maintenance.
  19. Yup, file Joey under absolute bellend.
