  1. More likely a further demonstration of the club's incompetence.
  2. Not sure it's a great deal when Southampton are getting £42m for Fernandes, who I don't think is any better.
  3. How did Southampton get 50% more for Fernandes? We've allegedly played hard ball and yet still ended up with a low fee and left ourselves 1 day to bring in a replacement. Classic Rudkin.
  4. The options currently available to the manager are generally awful but I still don't think his system is working at all from an attacking point of view. We seem to have 6 defensive outfield players who never go beyond the halfway line. The full backs never support the wingers and the 2 CMs sit 5 yards in front of the CBs. And to top it all off we have a striker who touches the ball more in his own half than the opposition's and a kid playing at 10 who looks out of his depth. It's a mess.
  5. Relying on one moment of individual magic again. Literally no fluidity, patterns of play or creativity other than that. 1 touch in their box in 50 minutes of football.
  6. The poor lad is clearly not ready to be starting in such a key position on the pitch, based on what we saw last week against a team who are likely to be battling against relegation.
  7. That's a separate question. To be honest, virtually any combination of the current squad would be rank. But I'd certainly be playing Ricardo and Nelson. I would also play Daka up top with Ayew behind, though I realise that is also unpalatable to lots of fans.
  8. ...and starting in midfield.
  9. Horrific starting XI again. Got away with it last week, hard to see us being so lucky again.
  10. We've bailed out. Was planning to come up for the game but finished work much later than planned and Google maps was saying that what should be a journey of 1hr50 or 2 hours was predicted to take 3 hours. Will watch on TV instead. Horrifyingly, I'm expecting Marti to stay loyal to the same starting XI as last week, given we (somehow) won. Obviously really hope I'm wrong.
  11. Our track record of signing strikers from the Austrian league is exemplary....
  12. Same as last time they were relegated.
  13. Hopefully today is the last time we see Salisbury and Walker in Leicestershire shirts. More sadly, Wright’s race is also run. Green and Davey are good additions but it would have been good to see another left arm pacer brought in, as when Hull is not available (pretty often) our attack does look very samey.
  14. Agree he played well overall at Charlton but I still found that he was too casual in closing down opposing players, often allowing them time to shoot or cross under no pressure. This very approach led directly to the 2nd Huddersfield goal in the Cup match.
  15. Not sure he will react well to this. Forced his way out of Genk to join us, as I recall.
  16. I think we should be blooding far more youngsters in the 50 over trophy. Playing 2 overseas players and still losing 5 out of 8 games (which seems likely after today's first innings) is both expensive and pointless. The youngsters could hardly have done worse. In fact, one of them has been the best bowler in the competition by a distance.
  17. Nope, another very poor batting effort.
  18. As Moyes said the other day, at this stage in the window, if clubs have missed out on their priority targets, they just "need bodies in the door who can do a job". Not even sure that VK meets that definition, though!
  19. The fact that clubs are allowed so many subs now is not helping our chances of getting youngsters from PL clubs.
  20. The problem is that whichever XI is selected by Marti, it will contain a minimum of 3 or 4 players who fans don't want here and are only being selected because the other options are even more tragic.
  21. Yep. It's been a really poor campaign - the top order batting has been the big problem. We've generally been 3 or 4 down too quickly to take the kind of risks needed late in the innings to get a really big score.
  22. True but that's because buying clubs are getting desperate. Not sure many of our players were attractive enough to be high up on other clubs' lists of targets.
  23. Yet again losing an early wicket. Seems to have happened in every game in this competition.
  24. We'll probably raise £100m from sales, buy nobody and yet still fail PSR again next summer, the club is so incompetent.
