  1. No because those two deals added £5m to amortisation in that season. Not 100% sure if it’s actually 2.5m given that they were signed in jan. the guy on x knows nowt. We were overspent £24m end June 23. The following year is very complex the rules are already in place where allowable losses in the championship are £13m v £35m in the PL per season. This isn’t the first time that a club has been relegated! the fact that it’s a three year rolling number is worse for us. If it was just 23/24 in isolation then we’d likely be fine. of course our legal team will have done their homework on the efl/pl rules regarding a promoted club. We may have already found a loophole. We won’t know anything for sure until late feb.
  2. Any other lawyers want to debate this ? we don’t know we will have to submit our eoy accounts in the autumn because we were a PL club at the end of June so we can’t avoid that requirement. At that time it may leak out. If it doesn’t then we’ll have to wait until end feb for any charge to be raised. if they do charge us then I expect we will challenge the ability to fast track the charges for 23/24 as we weren’t a PL club during that season. dimarco is not finished on our payroll !
  3. To be fair, spurs generate a lot of income and spend it. not sure why you think they’ve got away with murder ? The only members of the rich six who seem to have got away with stuff is Chelsea and Man City. the rest are working within the rules (don’t know enough about yanited’s Covid payment to comment). It’s the rules which are skewed
  4. Possibly the opposite - it’s likely to be a couple points that keeps us up whereas before we needed loads. Unless he’d already been tipped the wink a couple weeks ago that this outcome was likely Everton have no basis for any claim. Forest might have missed a efl based technicality when they appealed last season but that’s now gone. If they’re charged again for last season in a few months then they might be onto dimarco … Uncertain - if we didn’t need to sell him pre July because a breach last season in the efl could be similarly argued, we’d certainly need to sell before July 2025. I guess although the three year rolling totals mean that this scenario isn’t realistic because you can’t just dump everything into one season they weren’t fit for purpose in the specific circumstances we found ourselves in. They are fit for purpose in 99% of circumstances.
  5. That’s been the case for years though re yo-yo clubs Up until last season, no one had broken the £105m/£83m/£61m - delete as applicable
  6. It was still worse financially to be relegated/bounce back than to stay up and take a points deduction although given that we got a hefty parachute payment based on our history and we had relegation clauses on salaries, it might be closer than it should be
  7. You think that’s a certainty then ? there’s still no warrant issued by the court because there’s so much politics and legal argument wrapped around this.
  8. it’s a real mess and the PL will have to redraft their rules sharpish. I wonder if the fact that the season has now started means that 24/25 will have to continue under the rules as written and the rewrite can only come into play for 25/26. im sure forest’s lawyers will be looking through the regs to try and find a few holes re their season(s) in the championship however, I think our circumstances were very specific and others won’t be as fortunate as we have been.
  9. I don’t see the link between your points and our change of end year date Afaik, Psr calcs are to end June, irrespective of a club’s accounting EOY date. but both the PL and the appeal committee statements specifically refer to the movement of our end of year date to June 30
  10. No if we’d stayed up then we’d have sold barnes before end June along with madders. then we’d have met psr to end June 23 Last season would have indeed been a struggle in the PL but we’d have had the income to recruit and try to stay up
  11. I dont understand why the movement of our accounting date to end June is relevant all clubs have to report their psr numbers for the twelve month period july 1 to June 30. That’s why clubs need to do deals before end June. as far as I recall, we moved from end may to end June to bring our accounting period into line with this and also because it tallied with the date when player contracts ended. It just makes the auditors job a lot easier. (And cheaper for the club)
  12. Just to make the point that being relegated to avoid a six point deduction in the PL last season makes no sense. You stay up and you hope to avoid relegation with that deduction - (like Everton did)
  13. Can’t see that it’s related to our accounting period end date all clubs are required to report their psr position to 30 June (irrespective of when their accounting periods are - bringing them together simply makes things more straightforward and cheaper re auditing) this is an anomoly that our lawyers sussed out tbh, those that argued that relegation should be considered sufficient sanction were sort of making this argument in a different way
  14. Not according to the PL/EFL but they will be checking the wording of the rules very closely now! remember that we forced the -10 points rule change when we went into admin. Trail blazers !!!
  15. Last season - not known yet relegation season - no deduction (unless the PL employ nick demarco to find a way around out appeal win)
  16. So it seems that without intending for this to be the case, relegation effectively makes any psr sanction redundant and unenforceable. so relegation becomes sanction enough for breaking psr rules. you'd think that the PL will be going through our accounts to June 30 2024 with a fine toothcomb now! Desperately trying to find that we’ve exceeded allowable losses. No way are we getting the cost of mars bars for the women’s team through !
  17. how annoying for the club to have to fork out £100k+ for effectively disputing a throw in. the penalty - there is no point crying that much for a pen because the VAR will intervene if its that bad a call not to give it. i get that the players are totally pissed off by then because they feel like they've been sawn off several times already. at this time i'll give cooper rope on the basis that he's trying to build a siege mentality. but i'm not convinced that he isn't just a moaner and i cant see where that actually gets us.
  18. surely we will be seeing a lot of players away ? mads and danny victor, janiik, okoli, faes, wilf, bilal, Bobby, kasey any of the younger squad members in U21 squads ?
  19. Now that forest have spent a couple of years in the PL and Villa are PL established (and now in the CL), are we likely to enter a very competitive period for youngsters from n and w Leicestershire??
  20. Ha - he could be my son ! Crying that the ref cost us a point is not the attitude that will keep us up i think cooper is using it as a deflection tactic from his selections
  21. It’s affected the path of the ball Stan so he has to blow up was it directed to Vardy to lay it off to skipp? Would the defender have corrected right without the deflection to co we skipp’s run? and probably most importantly, Torres would definitely. It just have dangled a leg to block vardys shot if the whistle hadn’t gone the law is pretty clear on this one had he not blown up and we had scored then var would simply have dissowed it anyway
  22. I think if we’d sorted something already then he’d not have been on the bench they’ll low ball us and we’ll stand our ground - they know we have to give in
  23. Yes - let’s have three tempo holding midfield players lets sign all these type players who are available
