Back then this was poorly understood and non forecastable. That morning certainly increased our appreciation of such a feature. a pretty rare event. and the arrival of the less hot air air with that cooler breeze is wonderful this morning. Hopefully a few days of summer weather we can enjoy !

Mid thirties = 34+ we used to use 30c as the bar for a v hot day in the uk twenty years ago, if it was 26c then we thought ‘wow, what a warm day’. Now it barely registers as anything other than normal

2026 has set an annual record with 8 days above 34c since 2013, the years 2014, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2023 and 2024 failed to reach 35c at all. I think you’ve set your stall out too high with mid thirties. That’s still an unusually high temperature for the uk (which highlights high crazy this year is with us having broken the 34c record by early July)

Enzo wasn’t in control of Chelsea’s transfer policy he clearly decided he wanted KDH because he was an insurance policy on the way he wanted to play. As it transpired, the existing players at Chelsea bought into it so he was a bit part player there. The signing of KDH was nothing to do with us giving lurch a contract!

A more regulated system could be financed by charging for applications to cut down a tree over 40 feet tall councils are understandably tight with money so wouldn’t be able to handle new regulations unless they were self financing.

It’s not one tree sunil there are hundreds being cut down every day because there are no restrictions

If in a conservation area or having a TPO then some protection otherwise no restrictions the tree fella said the guy at the council who used to look after the trees was very good and travelled around placing TPO’s on those trees he felt deserved them. But he’d retired and not been replaced. Apparently his name was mr branch …….. (and the guy looking after the public loos isn’t mr shi##er)

Big trees ….. the house behind us chopped down a 60 foot silver birch this morning when I asked why, I was told that it was ‘in the way’ apparently it kept some of the lawn in shade and they didn’t like that Given our issues with CO2 and excess heat, surely we should be thinking about banning the removal of trees over 40 feet tall without council approval
