Taking 20 wickets on a semi-consistent basis looks like a tall order as things stand. We're at least 1 opening bowler short at this level. It's a long season and there will be changes in personnel, we'll probably need to operate shrewdly in the loan market again (Helm had a decent impact with the new ball). Still, bat properly tomorrow and escape with a draw and we're in touch with safety- a lot rests on whether we can win a couple of our 'easier' games with Hampshire, Yorkshire and Glamorgan.

We're certainly missing his captaincy. We replaced him pretty well with Weatherald (though he's an opener and it leaves the middle order very light). Patel and Maharaj are worlds apart.

Shaping up to be a long, hard season unfortunately. Losing Maharaj and Ahmed has done a lot of damage.

I'm not sure what's more damning anyway- getting relegated because of a points deduction resulting from gross financial mismanagement, or getting relegated because we were one of the three worst teams in the second division 5 years after finishing 5th in the top flight and winning the FA Cup as a result of abysmal recruitment? Still think we're a strike bowler short to win too many games- I say the same thing every year (including last year, but they bowled fantastically as a unit). Probably haven't had a fast bowler capable of ripping through top orders on a consistent basis since Abbas. That said, the batting looks very strong and 5+ bonus point draws won't do us any harm whatsoever.

Holland wicket was frustrating- out to the third bouncer of the over.

Souttar was having a go at Cooper. Genuinely think we'd have been around the play-offs if he was fit all season, he set a standard last night that we've desperately missed.
