When you think about it, it's absolutely outrageous that we named a stand after Lineker after he helped save the club and then decided to rename it a few years later. Talk about having no respect for our own history.

We've got to get behind him. For better or worse, he's here and there's no chance we could afford to sack him. If things aren't going to plan, all anger has to be directed at Aiyawatt and the board this season. We all (including them when they hired him) know what we're getting from Martin and the team will be full of kids.

That's pretty much where I'm at. Everything from behind the scenes that I've seen and heard has been positive (I'll forgive the odd Brentism in the initial vidoes), and it's been a while since that was the case. My main worry was always his playing style and that still might be an issue, but he seems to understand that we needed a major culture shift and I get the feeling he'll sort that.

That swamp is nearly drained, fair play to McCarron. According to the official site, we now have a first team squad of 17 (4 of them are goalkeepers), but interestingly no Faes listed. Hopefully next on the chopping block.

They've just taken on and refurbished the Old Horse on London Road (done a great job of it as well, to be fair). Presumably focusing their efforts on that and the Rutland & Derby, which I imagine are more profitable.

That's the key- if he's one of a couple of senior pros coming in alongside some youngsters/promising players from the lower leagues with something to prove, this is a decent signing. If not, then it's time to fold the club.
