To be fair, Schlupp would fit Marti's system to an absolutely tee. A LB who can play CM and winger.... He's almost custom made for what Cifuentes wants from his FB's. Saying that, I still don't think we should sign him.

Jakub. Aluko. Okoli. Nelson. Justin Ricardo. Winks. Fatawu. Bilal. Monga. Ayew. Granted Aluko over Ndidi (with Ricardo at FB) and Monga over Stephy are gambles, those are the two that look ready and have impressed in pre-season so far so I'd give them their chance in this system, which I think suits them AND Ricardo centrally.

I'm not sure about the WORLD in general but certainly in the UK, we aren't very liked and people are enjoying our current predicament and it's purely down to our PSR/financial mismanagement. Thats on or owners. They've destroyed the reputation we built under Vichai.

I'm aware of that but getting someone with a proven record to come off the bench isn't realistic. Not at this level and especially not in our current circumstances. A young promising forward and an experienced savvy forward as backup is about as good as we are going to get at present as long as they can show they can do the job Cifuentes demands of them in his system.

Ofcourse, we all know that we need a striker and it is becoming even more evident but on the plus side, I think it's also becoming clear that between Ayew and Evans, we have enough cover for this level. Marti's system really looks like it will suit Ayew as an option off the bench. Something I wasn't convinced of before pre-season.

I thought it was interesting watching Skipp and Winks who would take turns of sitting deep with the other going forward.

I thought the "free man" was Thomas.... was it maybe switching? I was watching Luke and he was doing the same. LB position, CM position, winger, striker....He was all over the place.

If he has, I feel sorry for the alien that got his "talent". That fella got short changed.

As far as a managers first half of football for a team, in a friendly, I personally think it's encouraging. It's clearly not there yet and we need incomings in certain areas of the park but you can see what we are trying to do and if we get the right people in, it will be very enjoyable to watch.

If we sold Daka and Ayew, signed a new starting #9 and got Vardy in as backup, I'm sure we would all be on board but we KNOW thats not what would happen. He would come back as our starter with Ayew as back up and no-one wants that.
