  1. I approached someone who had dropped some litter with a comment about having some pride in your area. 'It's not my f ing country bro'. Was the reply. I bet it is when it suits, and thereby lies the problem.
  2. I've just bought a first aid kit. I thought I would treat myself.
  3. You should have asked forum support to change your user name to, A Year Without The Fox.
  4. Does anybody come even remotely close to this level of obsession for vinyl?
  5. I believe it is a serious error of judgement or an incredible act of naivety to write Dr. Who. The correct way is Doctor Who. It's akin to spelling God with a lower case g or drawing a picture of the Prophet Muhammad.
  6. [Pedant mode on] It's a banner. [Pedant mode off]
  7. Re deleted posts: I think FT is a great site and moderated quite well and it isn't a responsibility I would wish for. There are, inevitably, inconsistencies with this moderation however. One that springs to mind is jokes or comments at Christian 'targets' such as God Himself, Jesus and so on, usually remain on these boards. Jokes at the expense of other denominations, especially Islam, get taken down faster than a, well, very fast thing. It all boils down to offence/tolerance towards other religions. In my view, and it is not my intention to upset anyone, some acceptance of mocking and a bloody sense of humour should be accepted by all. None of this my God is bigger/better/deserves more respect than yours, nonsense - especially when you live in a multicultural society .
  8. It is cost cutting, though the council will argue that these areas are now more wildlife friendly. They do have a point. Neatly mown grass looks great but isn't ideal for so many creatures. They also leave many areas of our parks without mowing large areas for the same reason. Downside for we humans ironically, is that it seems to trigger lack of respect for the area, with fly-tipping, litter and so on carried-out by too many individuals.
  9. Anyone have their own Weather station? The forecast currently reckons the wind is gusting at 40mph - which I can believe. However, I've just been on this website and looked at several local weather stations and they all report around 13mph. Even daily average reports for this area are around the same figure. Are these 'home' stations accurate at all?
  10. I find posts like this really irritating. What possible evidence do you have to reach such a conclusion? I mean, come on............
  11. "Susan. SUSAN. Please, please come back, you haven't signed the non disclosure agreement."
  12. Unfortunately, yes. Remember the trouble between Hindus and Muslims in Leicester just 3 or 4 years ago. Troubles that had their origins in India. They even chose a time to riot when the country was mourning the death of our Queen. I didn't say folk shouldn't be proud of their roots, just that it identifies them more and more. In days gone past, it would have been a person's occupation/address that would identify them such as: Fred Smith, a builder from Stretton, has been charged....... It is unhelpful and has sown the seeds of an 'us and them, you're different' culture in too many quarters - in my view.
  13. And there lies a significant, unfortunate and divisive situation, which is becoming more and more prevalent in our once secular society. In times gone by, you would have identified as British. Now, as you have stated above, he's not only British but his religion is listed and his family origins and it is these other two factors which govern more and more people these days. Yes, you have diversity in society but you also have plenty of fuel for division. I don't know the answer, I'm not sure many people do.
  14. Every silver lining as a cloud
  15. I strongly suspect that none of that mone y will be paid back.
  16. Not annoyed but very much related to the roads/driving. Out of curiosity, I went online to do one of the driving theory tests today. I got 42/50 which is one short of passing. In my defence, I did it in 10 minutes whereas you get just under an hour in reality.
  17. Me too. In fact, I rarely get excited even when we score. I'm never even on the edge of my seat anymore when we attack. (can you even call our forward moves an attack?) The title win, FA Cup, Europe was, of course, magnificent and we all knew it wouldn't last. It would be nice however, to still have 2 or 3 players who may make you think, they just might have got a game during those glorious years they are that good. But there isn't, that's how far we've fallen.
  18. Just realised that Time Time, the CH 4 archeology programme from years ago, have new episodes available on their YouTube channel. Archive episodes are available too.
  19. Never thought I would see those words in the same sentence.
  20. Would be interesting to view some of those posts from Vardy's early games. I assume they would be available to view somehow?
  21. Adverts: I can honestly say I pay them no attention at all. I hit 'Skip' on YouTube as soon as possible, they just pass me by when on the radio and ones on the TV often look 'familar' but I couldn't actually tell you what they were advertising . On the rare occasions I buy a weekend paper along with all the 'supplements', I quickly turn the pages with adverts without a second glance. Dunno if I'm typical with this? I guess not, because companies spend fortunes on ads.
  22. Older readers may remember Franny Lee and some of his diving exploits.
  23. They left after 80 mins
  24. BBC report sums it up, ............and though Leicester bossed possession and territory, they hardly created a chance worthy of the name.
