I agree with all that. But we’re stacked with wide players of decent to good ability. That’s the point I was making, that there’s at least one position that needs even less attention than GK.

The point, surely unarguable now, is that neither replacing Cifuentes nor Rudkin (tho’ JR should follow MC out of the door) is going to make that much of a difference. Top has to sell or we’re doomed

We don’t know that they don’t. I concede that there’s scant evidence that they do, but literally all well run professional clubs, including in the EFL, do.

One of the very worst players we’ve ever had, and I’ve been watching 60 years. I’ve never seen a player before regress quite like Luke. He was a much, much better player 5 years ago. It should be a sackable offence to pick him. If Aluko doesn’t start at LB on Tuesday I’ll join the ‘Cifuentes out’ brigade.

I generally make a rule of not posting within an hour of the final whistle because emotions can be all over the place. But as I no longer cheer our goals or get too bothered by those we concede, I’m not sure I care enough to invest emotionally. He’s not very good is he? We’re usually piss poor in the second half and while a lot of the blame lies with our awful, mentally fragile players, he’s constantly outthought tactically and hasn’t a clue what to do about it. I’m still not Cifuentes out because the bigger problem lies elsewhere. But I wouldn’t mind him leaving one bit.

He’s already less of a risk than Luke. I’d hope to see him start least half of the remaining games this season.

If only someone, say, I don't know, maybe a journalist, would actually put these stat to him and ask for his explanation...

Massive upgrade at LB helped - went from a regular 2 out of 10 from Luke to Hamza’s usual 4 out of 10…

He’s a fraud. I’ve backed him all season but his selection, substitutions & the picking of Luke Thomas once again - nope, no more. He has to go. MON until the end of the season please

It is shaming that Luke is still on the pitch. Utterly shaming. Giving him a four year contract is on another level, but someone needs to have a word with Cifuentes

He’s no longer a footballer. It’s a crime by Marti to play him. A sackable offence if you like. [I don’t think changing the manager achieves much given the leadership of our club, but each to their own]

Luke Thomas. From an exceptionally low bar he still manages to disappoint. Simply doesn’t have the agility or mobility to be a footballer

This. I can’t recall seeing anything like this before. Four and a half years ago he was good enough to keep Salah quiet and play well in an FA Cup Final. Now, he doesn’t look capable of playing football, never mind professionally. League 1? League 2? No way, he’s miles off both. Giving him a four year contract, presumably on more than minimum wage, has got to be one of the five worst decisions ever taken at this club. And there are hundreds of atrocious decisions to choose from.
