This is why those of us who were prepared to be patient with Cooper felt the way we did. Nobody, not even Pep or Klopp, could make survival easy this season. Saturday's team selection was more bemusing than even Cooper's. We've got a poor first XI and a squad lacking depth. Our GK is, even in the manager's eyes, 3rd choice (I hope to god Stol would get the nod if fully fit). We're not, despite the talk on here, certain to go down, 14 points after 17 games is better than the 19 after 29 games in 2014/15. It's highly unlikely we'll get to 15 before new year granted but things can change very quickly at the bottom and there's some terrible teams by EPL standards in this league.

Watching this I'd take a 6-0 defeat right now. That'll be forgotten about soon enough, double figures will haunt is for decades.

Is it really that inevitable? We've been truly terrible but haven't been in the bottom 3 yet.

Grew conceded 14 goals in his 5 games for us. Ward was very poor I'm not disputing that but so were many others, our defendsive organisation was dreadful and our inability to keep possession meant we were doing a lot of it. When you use the word sustained, didn't he have a spell of 5 clean sheets in 7?

There's loads of extremely poor players, who are/were well paid, that season that don't have a 186 page thread of insults. Grew was worse, much worse.

Ricardo and Mark Grew (I go back a long way) were both significantly worse than Ward. He was over priced, then underplayed and then over exposed in a team of players that were largely ambivalent to the plight of the club and weren't wanted by a manager who wanted out himself. He's not up to the job, that's clear, but the level of responsibility he's expected to shoulder and the vitriol towards him is wholly disproportionate.

In fairness to him he had next to no 1st team football, for 4 seasons at his peak age, before being thrown in as a PL no.1, it was never going to be ideal. His contract can't end soon enough for him or us. A free transfer in January would be the perfect solution for all.

One reason we might stay up is I'm able to go more often from January and we've taken 7 points from the 3 games I've been to this season.

Let's hope Filbert doesn't do his ACL
