27 is not that old?
-
I wonder if El Khannouss goes and a few others players that Cifuentes might target his fellow compatriot Oscar Rodriguez who's available on a free. Still only 27, he's not hit the heights expected of him when he was playing for the Spanish national side age 21/22 but he had a half decent season last year in La Liga for Leganes. Could do a lot worse. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/oscar-rodriguezs-sensational-return-to-leganes/
-
If Top sells up I suspect he goes with him to prioritise the horses.
-
Only logical reason he remains untouched as DoF is we are gearing up to be sold.
-
Think thats a massive disservice to Le Bris, he's got a decent track record. Rohl at this stage looks a promising manager with only minor experience (albeit done very well under a bat shut crazy owner)
-
Cifuentes has already said he wants a much smaller squad, I think he'll be looking for us to have a max of 25 1st team players including the 4-5 U21 academy players likely to be used in Monga, Evans, Page, Aluko and Alves. So I think he's expecting 5-6 out minimum and more if we are intending to make signings.

Monga hattrick please - great confidence booster -
This might also prompt Rangers to match whatever amount Wrexham might be offering Coady.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Just looked at his 14 assists from 23/24. Mavididi - 4 McAteer - 3 Fatawu - 3 Justin - 1 Winks - 1 Vestergaard - 1 Vardy - 1 -

Mavididi, Monga, Fatawu, Daka, Ayew. The only player El Khannouss won't have to provide that KDH benefitted from is Vardy. How many assists out of KDHs 10+ that season were to Vardy? There will have been a few. He takes set pieces too, KDH was not overly brilliant at corners or free kicks but Faes, Vestergaard and Justin did manage a handful of goals from set pieces that season. -

KDH scored and assisted about 6 times in 2 seasons in the impressive prior to that though. A drop in class and all that, obviously not a guarantee he'd increase his output to that magnitude but he's very creative. I'd expect 10-15 assists. -

Same as KDH -
Things change fast but right now I don't see Winks having the impact this season as he did in 23/24. Ndidi has been very erratic too and whilst he his contributions in 23/24 were never championed as much as they perhaps should have been, I see the likelihood for him to toil next season. Soumare I have minimal expectation from and Skipp is a mystery. The dynamic we had under Enzo worked and KDH thrived. I'd hope El Khannouss at this level should find it well within his grasp to get at least 10 goals and 10 assists but at a similar level in Belgium he's never had the end product yet. Alves will chip in but I think this team is crying out for a Hamer/Brownhill/KDH goal contributor.
-
I also agree he shouldn't find too much of an issue with this request, but the modern footballer never fails to amaze me.
-
I just don't see either the athleticism from the defence minded midfielders is there to make us defensively solid and nor do I see any central midfielder who will provide high output of goals and assists that KDH previously gave us. Yes we've lost Vardy but Ayew and Daka get us 15-20 between them but not so sure the current midfield get us the 25+ goal contributions KDH gave us. El Khannouss at a lower level might improve his output if he stays, KDH was hardly prolific in that sense prior to dropping down but it's not guaranteed.

Feel your pain and wish you all the very best, you will get through this and get a new era eventually. You're too big an institution not to, not that thats much comfort right now but take solace in the fact this heinous era will be over in the not too distant future. Some of us to a lesser degree have the same feelings here, acknowledging still what we've previously been blessed with. I still think you get a result, this is classic Leicester. Have a look at the nick Hull City were in on the opening day of the 2016/17 facing the reigning champions. Piers Charles hat-trick. -
You not majorly concerned about the midfield? I just don't see the combinations required even at a lower level.

This has all the fcukin hallmarks of a famous Leicester City embarrassment. They could play Ron Atkinson in goal and we'd still lose. -
Debatable. He'd argue what is expected of him overnight vs travelling to and from across each day like he's done for over two seasons. And anyway, even if it was legitimate to him not fulfilling his contract, how often are players continually fined or withheld their wages? They aren't, they have so much power. I doubt we are very strict on clauses in contracts either, not with the laxadasical approach taken to the amount we offer on the flop.
-
Justin has been a solid servant for us, more than got our outlay on him in terms of output. His performances up until his injury in the 2020/21 season were excellent. He's the sort that given his likely high wages and minimal book value that we should be sensible with. If Leeds offered £5m and covered all his wages then I'd call that par for the course.
-
Not quite true though is it. He doesn't have to at all, not unless it was written in to his contract. He can do the 100 mile drive each way every time he has to be in and rhe club can't do anything about it. Not like we have a competent DoF to sell him either is there? 😂😂😂😂
-
I know and yet they are a horrible mix even at this level.
-
I still think central midfield is more important than a new striker, I really do.
